I just started reading this thread, and on the first page, I was like "Oh my god, four pages of this *rap?", yet I still felt compelled to post, so I skipped to the end and Mookies typing St. Catherine's who? Amazing !!! Anyway, I backup and get it now.

I suspect that what had a good part in prompting this "discussion" [:-,] , was a recent thread about compound locomotives on the N&W, where Old Fart, er Old Timer and Big UP something or other were totaly ripping each other with total abandon. While this was happening, I felt a need to step in with a few calming words when it occured to me these two were simply testing their knowledge of excreme decor complimentation, and were in fact greatly enjoying themselves, at which point I realized the things they were saying to each other could be construed as humorous.

Generally, if you ask questions that are relevent and intelligent, you should get decent answers and dignified responses. And, if you are an *** and insist on it, somebody is sure to step up.

That's my opinion, and I do have a sphincter.

Oh, the "excreme decor complimentation" I just made up, pretty good huh?

I always think a little "difference of opinion" is good for a forum. I like a good dig as well as the next person. Just as long as you don't draw blood.

But along with finding out where St Catharines is - I found out that Canada is a lot closer than I ever imagined! I never had any reason to look there until I joined the forum and found out people exist west of the Missouri river! Sorry for the diversion, but not really - it was fun exploring!

CW - there are a lot of people out there that would disagree with you, but fortunately for me, they don't attack. However, a good swipe once in awhile will keep me humble!

I am somehow reminded of the Loonie Tunes cartoon where the dog thought he was going after Sylvester, but was up against a puma instead.... Rather picture Mookie doing the swiping, though...

Mookie has been known to take a chunk here and there - but age has helped make that more like bitty pieces.

No putdown intended, Piouslion. I was just stunned that anyone else was familiar with Waycross and Jesup. How did you acquire that familiarity? I'm a refugee from that part of the world, unfortunately.

JOdom: As Mr. Hemphill has said on more than one occasion, the lack of a fuller profile does present its disadvantages. I would be happy to speak with you about the Coastal Empire of Georgia. Included knowlege of the Green Frog, Plant Hatch, The Southeastern Corridor, and mabe a thing or two about a great big swamp. I also know some Odoms from that part of the country

Probably should have said economic refugee. Left for better opportunities, and haven't been able to get back. There are apparently two kinds of places in the world, places where one would like to live and places one can make a decent living.

You should probably be careful with saying refugee. You never know when the INS is watching[:D]

You've never heard me speak or seen me. Only a deaf and blind (and not too bright) INS agent would give me more than a passing glance. At one time I spoke a little (a VERY little) Spanish, and one of my listeners (victims?) told me I was the only person she had ever heard drawl in Spanish.

Ole Ivan went right on by between Lufkin and the border with LA...already past, no rain yet, but the back side swirl should water the lawns pretty good this afternoon.

That's one reason I like it - no blathering DJ, no H-H-H-U-U-U-G-G-G-E-E-E-!-!-! car dealership commercials - just rock and roll.

Yeah, Andrew you have to list all the bad apples that really make you angry, let me see:

LC- Your head is so friggin big, your either going to fall over and need firefighter assistance to get up, or your going to have trouble fitting into a locomotive soon- you aint' the best thing since Molson, hate to tell you- don't become one of those Old head "know it alls" who get "righted" every 3 secondes by young wipper snappers like myself

WOW- I do feel better!

Kevin-

I guess you must have a lonely brain cell somewhere in that empty head of yours. BTW, it's "whipper snapper" and I've never seen seconds spelled with the extra "e" either. Is that the Quebec spelling??

Frankly, I'm not sure I buy your claim of former railroad affiliation in any event. You must have flattened a lot of wheels and upset a lot of engineers with your unsafe behaviors. That certainly could explain your not working on the RR. I know that many engineers who don't like conductors they work with have their own suite of tricks that can make life miserable for the conductor. That aside, pulling the air would require the conductor to walk the train and perform an air test assuming there were no defects. Not something I'd want to do as a conductor (why would one want to expose themselves to multiple emergency applications?), no railroader I know would do that for kicks as you imply you have done.

It is really easy to type the words here on the page, much harder to do the job in real life.
