Went to the Living Room not very long ago to change channels on the TV so I could see our local news for Sat. evening, (ABC) and wound up seeing the Nebraska vs whomevergame. I looked very close, but couldn't see Mookie in the stands.

Thus far here at the house, about 1/2 inch of rain....nice steady drizzle for now, would be nice for it to continue that way with no major storms or downpours.

They're still calling for lots of rain overnight, into tomorrow; looks like the "Governors Cup", "Blue-Red", "whatever football game tomorrow will be a very muddy game!

(which will hosted by UL at Papa John's Stadium-former site of South Louisville Shops & rail yard of the L & N Railroad.)

(which is/was still considered a Haz-Mat site, and UL is trying to get monies from CSX for cleaning up the site-which originally was on the "Super-Fund" list of cleanups.)

Adrian, we have a neighbor who put a couple of black garbage bags over his windows, so he can sleep; he's had to work several different shifts, so guess that's how he combats the sunlight from coming through the window shades.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Canadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

Desserts:  Chocolate brownies, peach cobbler, oatmeal raisin cookies

OH:  we finally did get a little bit of rain, have about a half inch in the rain gauge.  Still drizzling.

Adrian, back in my civilian days on the Ambulance Service, I worked about 2 yrs on the 1800-0600 shift;there is Not enough aluminum foil made to block the windows!(unless you're trying to keep aliens out!)

I do wish they would rename those carpet/upholstery something besides "Rug Doctor", by the time you finish wrestling with one of those, you either go to your own doctor or E.R.! Been just awhile since I've used one.......funny I can't remember the last time we did use one, but definitely remember the after affects!

Good Saturday morning all.  We're starting out with 77 degrees, going for a high of 88 later this afternoon.  From the looks of things, Isaac won't be bringing us any rain until tomorrow morning.

Joe, thank you so much for getting the coffee, and other beverages ready this morning, and for fixing breakfast!  Sarah and Walt are still in Night-night land.  I've been up about a half hour.  Shoulders and back are sore this morning.  Imagine the other 2 members of this household will feel the same way.  Today will be laundry day, and then  a trip to the grocery, for some food to last over the weekend.

Everybody have a good day, take care and see you all later this evening, for our pizza fest.

It is good see a blessing come from something that caused a major disaster. Nawleens was hard hit again when they really thought it would basically a non event...

CW, now that ye have tested the rug machine, come on down and put it to work. I will even fix pancakes for yall and Sarah...

Everyone take care and have a great weekend

Mook, been a BUSY day around here.  Walt and I decided to do our yearly use of the Rug Doctor, and we've been busy vacuuming carpet, couch, and cleaning them with the Rug Doctor.  Have already had to take another 1/2 capsule of my pain medicine.  Guess I'll have to check with Walt to see if he's taken his dose of pain medicine (Kroger All Day Relief).

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way and on the warmer bar.  Although, it is just going to be Fish Sandwiches, w/fries and your choice of cole slaw or garden salad.  Been to busy to fix the rest of the side dishes.

Desserts are the usual.  Glad I had them already made and in the freezer.

Mookie, I'm like you:  I'll take the tomatoes and cukes without the vinegar.

Everyone have a good evening, take care and see you all in the morning.

CW - I love all shades of blue to begin with....but since we are having our own game here tomorrow, I will have to wear red and look like a nosebleed!

My Dad loved tomatoes/cukes and vinegar.  I like just the tomatoes/cukes sans vinegar.  Anyone else notice that seasonal fruits and veggies are really expensive?  Love toms, but just can't see paying $4.00 for a small box of cherry toms.  So I sniff everything in produce and leave it right there!

And with all the wildlife we have in backyard (added a raccoon) can't plant a garden unless I sit in it 24/7.

Saw 2 great-tailed Grackles today in a park as we were driving by.  I have seen lots of them in Texas/OKlahoma, but never here in NE.  We are on the northern edge of their habitat.  We have a short-tailed grackle, so these definitely stood out.

Busy day - nap time - overdue!

Ian - I was right there with you on the salad until you got to the Italian dressing.

Give me ranch, French or 1000 island and put the Italian on the asparagus!  Blindfold

Must go pick out mah outfit for the Blue Sleep tomorrow.  Hmmm - blue jeans, blue t-shirt, blue nails and Driver needs to buy me a cute little blue car....maybe a Mustang?  Might as well get a convertible - don't have any weather anyway.....

Good Friday morning all.  78 degrees here in Louisville this morning, with no rain yet.  That's not supposed to be in here until right around rush hour this afternoon.  The weather guessers are now saying that when the rain does get it, it won't be a continuous rain, we will have some dry periods over the long weekend.

Ian, your salad recipe is exactly like one my Mama used to make, during the summertime.  Except she would just put the cucumbers, tomatoes etc.  into a bowl and pour distilled white vinegar over it all.

Mookie, with your color scheme you've got going, are you sure you aren't on your way to Louisville for the  Governor's Cup football game between University of Ky and Louisville Cardinals, and not just the blue moon? Smile, Wink & Grin

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Regular breakfast is also ready ,along with a small selection of our Friday Doughnuts/Danish.

Everybody have a good morning, take care, and see you all later this afternoon, hopefully.

It's raining down here in SW Ar. Started this morning as now tropical depression (kind of depressing , pun ntended) Isaac started to move in. Looking at weather we'll get a fair amount of much needed rain .I don't complain too much as I've stuck inside. Looks like this storm will mozy it's way up the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.  Enjoy the rain when it gets to you.a                                                                                                                                                                               CW Here's a salad I throw together on better days : Take a cucumber sliced thin, 2,tomatoes sliced into 8 wedges(2 tomatoes per cucumber), for taste I also recommend an onion and a bell pepper or two. Then drown in an approriate amount italian dressing.   You kind of have to adjust the mix for the number of people and budget.                                                                                                                                                                     All the best Ian

Believe it or not, I actually did a little bit of cooking for in here today.  Here is our menu for the rest of the afternoon and evening:

1.  Italian spaghetti w/meatballs, garden salad and Italian bread

2.  Tuna noodle casserole

3.  Beef noodle casserole

#s 2 & 3 can be accompanied with garden salad and Italian bread.

Just heard a few minutes ago on the local news' weather report, that between tomorrow night and Monday night, we could possibly see 3 to 6 inches of rain coming our way from Isaac.  As dry as everything is, you know we'll see some flooding in areas.  Think I'm glad that our house is on a rise.  Am remembering 3 years ago on August 3 or 4, when it poured from 7 a.m. to noon, and we only had a lone puddle in the front yard, maybe 2 or 3 feet in diameter, and the street just up the street, less than half a block, was flooded.

Oh well, enough of that.  Everybody have a good evening, take care and see you all in the morning.

(1) Gotta love those stealth boxcars in Niagra Falls! (ain't gravity and roller bearings fun?)

(2) CW: Foggers are a common site in small town Ag Colorado. With it is as dry as it is (famed Palmer Lake just dried up here) and a harsh winter predicted, we may be buggy last year.

(3) Our zukes, pumpkins, cukes, asparagus and peppers did not survive our 10-Day trip out of the country, but our tomatoes are thriving.(Automatic watering control had a battery failure)

(4) Mooks - got yer nu and improoved nets ready?

Good Thursday morning all.  67, 68 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high of 93 later this afternoon.  I heard on the news awhile ago that our gas prices shot up overnight to $4.18.9 per gallon.  They're blaming Isaac, along with the Labor Day Weekend as the reason.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is also ready:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and toast are on the menu for this morning.

We had an interesting occurrence Tuesday evening:  around 8 p.m., Walt was at the computer, and I had just gotten off the phone from talking with my sister.  Heard a strange noise outside:  it was the mosquito fogger truck, going up and down the street, fogging for mosquitoes.  That is the first time, in the 24 years we've lived here, that they have come through and fogged for mosquitoes.  Right at the same time, his cell phone rang, along with the house phone:  it was the non emergency alert system, informing us that they would be fogging in our area within the next 7 days.  Didn't look out the living room window to look, but those vehicles are the funniest sounding things to go by.  I can't even describe the sound.  Or maybe it was just the sound of the sprayer.

Anyway, you all have a good morning, keep as cool as possible, and remember to stay hydrated and take care.  See you all later this afternoon.

blownoutcylinder, that indeed good news that your malignancy is gone. May you have as good a report as I have had for the past six years or so (I saw my oncologist yesterday, and her only concern now is my low hemoglobin level, and it is six months before I am to see her again).

Well, Mookie, I don't know what to tell ya:  except maybe check with Driver, and see if he's playing tricks on you (husbands are very, very good at that).

Have fixed more salads for supper tonight.  It is just too warm to do a lot of cooking:  chef salad, Caesar salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, and a fruit salad with apple, pear, orange, banana, raisins and nuts.

Sarah got the first two tomatoes out of her garden today.  Both had little holes in them, where birds have pecked into them.

I did manage to get my walk in this morning; left around 10:15 or so, and got back home around 12:30, 12:35.  So not too bad.  Yes, I had my bottle of water with me, and by the time I got home, said bottle did not have much water left in it.

BOC, glad to hear the good news report received by your oncologist!!

Justtin, you all have a safe trip to Michigan and back home.

Hope everybody is staying as cool as possible, have a good evening, and see you all later.

Mookie

Have a dilemma - not sure it is fixable:  brought a small jar of peanut butter upstairs to my office, thinking I would have crackers and pb for lunch.  Decided not to use it, so put it on hall table to take it back downstairs.  Remember grabbing the jar and heading off the first step downstairs.  After that is a blank.  Somewhere between the 1st and 14th stair, the pb disappeared.

It would be hard not to spot a medium-sized jar with a bright blue lid and brown contents....but it has totally disappeared.

Sigh  find myself doing this a lot lately!

Interesting Mook! Maybe one day you you will be looking around for something and find a jar of peanut butter.

Headed for Michigan tomorrow. 5 day weekend! Big Smile

BOC - wonderful news!

I am sure it is the diner food that helped!

Hot and dry again today.  I keep telling people here - it doesn't rain until Labor Day.  And this year, it may not rain at all.  And as far as the gulf sharing some of theirs,  (we would take a boatload), It will pass to the east of us as usual and give it all to Iowa.  And Iowa never sends any back to us!
