I do believe that "Global Warming" is happening but most folks don't understand exactly what that means to Global vs. Local climates as some places will get Cooler and/or Wetter. Certainly there is a natural Heating / Cooling patterns this old planet of ours has gone through before humans were here. But (IMHO) I believe humans are adding a "spike" to this pattern that could prove to be very deadly in potentially 90 years given current climate models I have seen.
Many climate models shows that by around 2100 AD the middle of the planet will reach "overall" levels that will create massive crop / animal life failures that are needed to support human life. Now will 100% of human life become extinct, can't say; but, we could see a massive life loss like Europe had just recently from a recent heat event. Even if this is all 100% natural we are still talking about an extinction level heat events for humans potential coming in the youth of today's lifetime.
Today we have roughly 7B people, by 2100 AD there are some estimates of 14B. Now make the middle 40% of the planet to warm for crops and raising of animals for human consumption which is were nearly 100% of our food is grown. How do we feed 7B let alone the projected increase in population? When you add in other issues from Methane being release from the Ice fields melting and the increased CO2 levels can make the North / South areas unlivable and we just might squeeze ourselves out of the future making way for the next evolution of ??? to take over.
MAYBE, if we can limit that "spike" and thus lessen the "overall" impact then we just might live long enough to get to that next "Cooling" cycle without being knocked back to the stone-age.
Either way, here where I live the "overall" pattern of Warmer/Wetter Winters and Hotter/Dryer Summers is what is projected and so far coming true as we set more and more records. The below chart shows what is being observed / projected for the US in the next few decades and there are many others that show basically the same thing. Note Colorado and states around us as well as Mexico going "Purple" which is not a good thing as these extreme Heat Events are deadly. Approximately 70,000 died in 2003 in Europe when an extreme Heat Event hit there and there was about a 20% crop failure in France during this event. As we see more of these happening and at higher levels globally we just might be heading for the scrap yard...
Anyway, cup of coffee and some pie please...

Good Morning Railfans!
It's 42F right now heading towards 70's with a chance of Thunder Storms coming in so maybe rain, maybe lightning which could spark more fires. Looks to be one of those years again...
Good Tuesday morning everyone. Starting out with temps in the mid to upper 40s here in Louisville this morning. And from the weather report I heard, temps aren't going to be getting much high than somewhere in the 50s today.
Well, I started the new heart/blood pressure medicine last night. Also had to quit smoking, due to the new med. So far, not showing any signs of any side effects: no dizziness or lightheadedness or anything. Of course, I'm doing what the information pamphlet said, and getting up slowly, not trying to go anywhere in a lightning rush.
Everyone have a very good morning, take care and see you all later.
Speaking of it being a warm / dry winter here in Colorado, this just got posted on CNN...
nice day today.guessers are saying we are under a freeze warning.Cw thanks for supper.Time to get things around for work tonight.
Joe
.....Sunshine, breezy and in the 50's....Nice day, but the wind makes one feel some of the breeze to make it cooler. Weather people indicate it will get to 65....It might.
Quentin
It's 46F heading up into the 70's today. Saw reports of several fires breaking out again but they seem to got a handle on them quickly. The winds and dry conditions just have things ready to burn and it looks like it will be that way all summer. Not much on the Modeling / Railfan perspective for me right now but hope to get in sometime this summer...
I even watched the last round for awhile. Some seemed to play a little like my minature golf game, but mostly it was a lot of skill involved.
We have, so far, 4 eggs in the kestrel nest in the Netherlands. There were 5 last year, so we will see just how motivated Lady Bird is in egg-laying. Will be about the end of April before we see the end products.
Snell Loop had a doe walk past the camera. Lots of rabbit races there, too.
Early up to put out garbage, so nap in order.

Good Monday morning everyone. Yeah, Joe, that was a nice ending, although I only saw it in news highlights: I was so disgusted, I changed channels. And, as some say, as win is a win, even if it is just by one point.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Breakfast is on the warmer bar.
Think I may try to take a walk later, don't know how far I'll actually walk. Depends on how this right leg does. We started out with temps in the low to mid 40s in our area, and supposed to get up to about 70 degrees today, with plenty of sunshine.
Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.
......And that Master's site is a great place of beauty. I would like to just walk {or ride}, around it when nothing is happening, and just take in the beauty.
Everything just looks perfect. Noted how crisp the edge of the grass line where it meets the sand traps....Looks perfect....and all the rest of it just a lush of green beauty.
It must be some honor to win the Masters.
Go Tigers (Detroit, that is)! I was at my daughter's place, and son-in-law is a Boston fan, so I had to keep the celebrating down to a minumum.
I don't normally watch golf, but we were watching the Master's. There were definitely some moments there, including a double Eagle that has to be seen to be believed, and a second shot out of the woods in sudden death that miraculously landed on the green, leading to the win.
Of course there were also some shots that made me feel much better about my duffer game...

well and ugly win is still a win..nice time at G+G today.feels good to be home on a sunday night.chores and yardwork await tomorrow.guessers say we could have highs in the 40's this week?? hmmm.
Well, before I left for Church, I put a couple of hams in the oven to bake. They are now ready, and on the warmer bar. To go with the hams, we have:
1. Your choice of green beans, broccoli w/cheese sauce, mac & cheese, tossed salad, rolls, corn, potato salad, pistachio salad, banana croquets
For Dessert:
1. Coconut cake shaped like an egg, with green tinted coconut as 'grass' with jelly beans on top
2. Cherry cheesecake
3. Peach cobbler
Hope you all are enjoying your day. We have nice sunshine, but with the breeze, it is a little bit chilly outside.
Walt and I think we may have another litter of kittens, via Mama Kiki: we saw her a little while ago, on the porch, and she is noticably thinner than she has been. First time we've seen her since Wednesday (although I seem to remember seeing her Thursday morning, before I left for the hospital.). Don't know where she had this litter. Haven't really heard any noises under the house, but they could be down there, or she could have had them somewhere else. Guess we'll find out in a few weeks, if we see them out in the yard somewhere with her.
Joe, I'm not liking the way the Reds are doing so far today: bottom of the 8th, and they're behind the Marlins. Reds, get your act together, and do something right, like win-the-game.
4.
....Yes, as Paula says....He Has Risen...!
And it's a beautiful Easter Morning here in mid west Muncie.
In about an hour we'll be heading for our Service.
And then, reservations for us and 2 friends at Ruby Tuesday for our Sunday get together and meal.
Warmer today.
Everyone enjoy the importance of This Day. Hope the weather cooperates wherever you are.
happy Easter
was out yesterday working on yardwork at grandpas house.Did see 2 trains on the way home.Off to church and G+G house.
Good Sunday morning everyone. HE is Risen! Happy Easter to one and all. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. Our high yesterday made it to 69 degrees, and we're to see that high again today.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Breakfast is on the warmer bar, including some cold pizza. Came back in last night, and put everything in the fridge, since no one had come in. Guess everybody was out enjoying the beautiful weather.
Wishing you all a Safe day, take care going to Church, work, rail fanning, visiting family, etc. Keep safe and enjoy the morning.
Gee whiz, nobody's been in today. Breakfast has been cleared from the warmer bar, and I've put on the pizzas for tonight. About the only thing I've done today, here at home, is go to the grocery/pharmacy, to pick up a few things, and pick up my meds. The prescription the doctor gave me, to replace the Bystolic, is a heart medicine, that also takes care of blood pressure. It is called "Carvedilol". Sure hope it works!
Here's the menu for tonight:
01. Anchovie
02. Canadian bacon
03. Cheese
04. Chicago style
05. Goetta
06. Ham & green pepper
07. Hawaiian
08. Italian sausage
09. Pepperoni/mushroom
10. Supreme
Everyone have a good afternoon/evening, and see you all in the morning.
Mook, have no fear!! I am doing nothing but resting. I've only been awake and up for right at an hour. Went to bed a little after 9 p.m., and slept the "sleep of the dead": did not know a thing until I woke up this morning. Although, I do have a very nice, BIG bruise on the right leg, from where they did the procedure Thursday.
Good Saturday morning to everyone. We are starting out with temps in the mid 40s or so, and only looking for a high of 69, maybe 70, 71 degrees today. Tomorrow's high is be about the same, so we should have a good Easter, weather wise.
Coffee and juices are fresh and ready to go. And there's a bit of breakfast on the warmer bar. Not my usual Saturday morning brunch.
Everyone have a very good morning, take care, and see you all later this afternoon, early evening.
CW - glad you are back. I am going to call my local hospital and see if I can get something catered.
Food has definitely improved, but beds have not. When I had a burst appendix, I was there 6 days and slept in a recliner the whole time. It was wonderful! Only went near the bed when I absolutely had to and then right back to recliner. I was the talk of the floor, but at least i was comfortable!
Gotta go and maybe heckle the Mudpigeon. Then do as your doctor ordered - rest...rest...rest...
I love it!
Well, I've been home about a couple of hours now; tried to take a nap, but my sister called to check on me, and then I couldn't go back to sleep. Thank you all for your good wishes, thoughts and prayers. Guessing everything turned out all right; left the hospital with instructions to not do much of anything for the rest of the day, call my primary doctor, make an appointment to see him in two weeks, and call the cardio/vascular doctor to see him again in four weeks. Called both, and now waiting for them to call me back with the appointments.
Our Friday Fish menu is now on the warmer bar, but, considering, it isn't as big as it normally is: Cod, bass, halibut, flounder, with cole slaw, pork & beans and fries.
Took some cakes, pies and cobblers out of the freezer, and they're baking in the oven, as I type.
Mookie, the food wasn't too bad: Heart Healthy diet, which consisted of, for supper last night of a tuna sandwich on whole wheat, and a plate of fruit: cantaloupe, orange slices, grapes honey dew melon, and strawberry slices. Breakfast this morning was two pancakes w/syrup, 2 % milk, orange juice, a slice of orange and scrambled eggs.
Everyone take care, have a good afternoon, and see you all later.
Tom....oh, such tragedy...! How sad for the innocent.
Happy Friday Railfans!
Well, we did get some Rain/ Snow mix the other days that made a huge difference. Sadly the forecast shows another Hot / Dry stretch coming and about 40% of the state is under "Red Flag" warning coming into the weekend. Snow pack levels they said today are at a 30yr low statewide.
The past few days we had replacement widows put in the ground floor so hopefully this will give us cooler summers and warm winters by having better windows. The 50yr old old windows with cheep interior storm windows actually kept out more sound; must have been the wider air pocket dampened the sound better.
Peace be with you. 46 and rain in Carolina, with 64 expected later.
A local tragedy yesterday. Some idiot decided to fool around on his wife/girlfriend, and she caught them. The wife/gf shot one of them and they got in his car and tried to drive away. She got in her car and chased them, whilst shooting at the car. They ran a red light, and broadsided another car, killing a nurse on her way to work. The nurse was 36, quite pretty and well liked, who loved her husband, dogs and job. The wf/gf fled from the carnage she made and was arrested later where she was hiding and is charged with murder, 2 counts of assault and attempted murder plus numerous lesser charges, and an innocent family was devastated due to her dumb uncalled for actions.
On that note, have a safe day and watch out for idiots!

COAST LINE FOREVER

A contentious woman is like a constant dripping! (Solomon)
Mutt - tell her not to fall in love with the hospital bed. It is always fun to sleep on chicken wire covered with sheet rock.
Sir C flies to the coast, so it would have to be, what, about 35k+ feet long? He is much easier to catch when he flies by on the ground. A burger and a string usually does the trick.
Around Lincoln - they never move that fast! But out in the open country, they do look like HSR!
Think I will have cold cereal for supper. And if the box is almost empty - no dishes!
CW says Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers............
Apparently she came through the test today alright, but they Are keeping her overnight & running at least one test tomorrow if not 2...............So you all(or Ya'll) are going to have to eat/use leftovers for tonight's supper and breakfast tomorrow.
Mook, how long do you need the pole for your net? I've got several sections of pipe & wooden dowel rods that could be Duct taped together to make a much longer reach!
Joe; I've tried to keep up with the "Opening Day Game", but keep getting interrupted by people wanting to know how CW is doing. I gave up on that, started to do a few things that need to be done around the house and still keep getting interrupted. Go figure.
(guess I'll see the final score at 10:00 or 11:00.)
Just saw the "Thread" on "High Speed Rail in Nebraska", would that be Mookie chasing Mudchicken out of the state?!?!
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Cw good luck at the hospital.Reds opening day today in cincinnati. It's friday.Going to be cool but a nice weekend.Need to get hopping.
Peace be with you. 77 and partly clear in Carolina with heavy rain expected later today as the remnants of the Tx storm front passes through. On a related note, I am ignorant of semi trailer lengths, and based the 80 ft length comment on what the CNN reporter said. Thanks for the correction.
CW, all the best for an in and out hosp visit. As a veteran of long stays, I know they ain't fun and I hope to see you on here later today. Keep the faith!
Everyone have a safe day.
