No, Carl, she did not indicate to me, if the test showed a recent stroke, or sometime in the past.  Guess maybe I'll find that out, when she gets the report to my regular doctor, which she hadn't done as of 5:45 last evening, when my doctor called me.  Whenever he gets the results from her and goes over them, he said he would call me back.  So, as of now, I'm still in limbo.

Good morning all.....very surprised I'm the first one in here...{at this late time}...The sun is shining here.  Saw 40 on the instrument earlier.

Believe it's to be a pretty nice seasonal day....Some more leaves down on my east side.....So perhaps tomorrow, we'll get the tractor out and do some mulching....Certainly, not needing to mow yet, but I'm keeping after the leaves, and perhaps we'll keep the situation under control that way....

That way, we'll have the yard look presentable all Winter.  Guess neat is the word.

Getting ready to head out to breakfast....and then to the church to replenish envelopes in the pews.  Do that each month once or twice.  Most people do have the envelopes at home, but we keep them avail. in the pews as well.

In the past--sometimes not all that recently--you've had symptoms and/or sensations that could have been the manifestation of--or a masking of--a stroke.   She didn't say how recently she thought this occurred, did she?

We hope the scan (feline or otherwise) leads to a sensible, satisfying, and successful solution.

Visiting our "Family Restaurant" a bit after noon today for a late lunch also was good for watching trains go by.

We were there perhaps 45 min. and had 4 trains pass in that time...Both east and westbound.  {CSX}.

Rain started this afternoon {big Low circulating around us}, and hopefully it will move out by tomorrow.  Forecast does have sunshine so they think it will.

Larry, thanks for the good laugh:  I needed that!!  My doctor called me back a little while ago.  I told him what was going on, and he hasn't heard from the opthamologist yet.  So, when he gets the report from her, he'll call me back and we'll be talking.

Since it is so gloomy and rainy out, here is what I've come up with for tonight:

1.  Sloppy joes w/fries and salad

2.  Vegetable beef soup w/grilled cheese or PB&J  sandwich

3.  Cream of Broccoli soup w/anything from #s 1 & 2

Everyone have a good evening, take  care, keep warm and dry, and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Interesting; she's already had 2 "Cat Scans" from the inside cats, and  at least 4 from the "outside" cats, all that's cost so far is "kitty food". "Lab Reports" might be delayed until we find a "Lab" close by. (unless the cartoon strip "Dog Eats Doug" qualifies.)

All kidding aside, neither Sarah or myself have noticed any of the symptoms generally associated with a stroke, and I've been around her for almost 25 years. (and an EMT for a few of those years.)

Even though the eye doctor is going to contact my GP, I am going to call him myself later on this morning (his office doesn't open up until 9:30).

I'm sure there will be a CAT scan and plenty of lab reports involved...

A woman brought a very limp parrot into a veterinary hospital. As she lay her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the Vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm so sorry, Polly has passed
away."

The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure? I mean, you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, shrugged, turned and left the room returning a few moments later with beautiful black Labrador. As the bird's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the dead parrot from top to bottom. He then looked at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet led the dog out but returned a few moments later with a cat. The cat jumped up and also sniffed delicately at the ex-bird. The cat sat back, shook its head, meowed and ran out of the room. The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry; but like I said, your parrot is most definitely, 100% certifiably ...dead."

He then turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill which he handed to the woman. The parrot's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!" she cried. "$150 just to tell me my bird is dead?!"

The vet shrugged. "If you'd taken my word for it, the bill would only have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, what did you expect?"

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Starting off the day with a temp in the 50s.  Do not remember what our high is to be today.  The predicted rain hasn't made it way into Louisville yet:  they're now saying it'll be here around 9:00 this morning.

A very special Thank you! to Bruce, Mookie, Johnny, Quentin and Larry, for your kind words.  Even though the eye doctor is going to contact my GP, I am going to call him myself later on this morning (his office doesn't open up until 9:30).

Coffee, oj, oj/tangerine, apple, grape, pineapple juices are all freshly made and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer/serving station.

Everyone enjoy your morning, take care and see you all this afternoon.

CW - seems that women have a lot of things go wrong and never know it - silent heart attacks, ie.

We women are very tough!  You may have thought it was just a sinus headache.

Now that they suspect something, they can look into it further.

And we are all here for virtual hand-holding!

It's a relatively new concept that women's heart attacks present differently than men's - a distinction that may have cost lives in the past as doctors (and others) ignored signs and symptoms because they didn't fit the usual profile (chest and left arm pain, difficulty breathing).

But that difference is now being recognized.  Still, it's not a bad idea for folks (especially the ladies) to become aware of how women do present during heart episodes, and not  to ignore those symptoms.

CW, hope everything turns out OK.

Paula, it is indeed a puzzle as to how anyone could have a stroke and not be aware of it, unless it came while you were asleep. Is there a plan afoot for physical therapy? When Ricki had a ministroke in Denver a year and a half ago, we did not think of such at all, and I believe now that we should have; she did have therapy after her two last December. You will be in our prayers.Thumbs Up

CW, I just wanted to say I am very sorry to hear about your recent medical news. I can understand why you are very upset. It seems the medical community is getting a better handle on strokes all the time, so I hope they have better news for you down the line.

I haven't had a chance to peruse my usual news sources today, so I may drop in again later. For now, I just wanted to express my concern and sympathy.

Well, today was the day I went back to the opthamologist.  Not a good report, unfortunately.  Apparently, I have had a major stroke sometime.  So, before she goes any further, she is contacting my GP to request a brain scan to be done on me.  Needless to say, I'm very upset.  How in the world can a person have a major stroke, and not know or realize what is happening to you?!?!?!?!

Our high got up to 71 today.  After I left for my doctor's appointment, Walt went out for a bike ride, to take care of a couple of errands that needed to be done.  Prediction for tomorrow:  cold, rain, blustery (?) conditions.

For supper tonight:

You have your choice of meat loaf w/all the trimmings, or you can have steak with baked tater, salad, and dinner rolls or Texas toast.

Everyone take care, have a good evening, and I'll see you all tomorrow.

All the snow talk.  None of that here.  As a matter of fact, after lunch, we'll be mowing the yard, along with mulching any leaves that have blown over on me.

Partly sunny.  Low as I saw it earlier today:  47.  To be near 70 this afternoon.

Today's ad in paper sez our grocery store is having a big pork sale.  Hmmmm.....

We are having Bruce's weather.  60 yesterday, but 43 right now with a predicted high of 41.  (think about it)  Tinkling right now - I am inclined to think it is more heavy humidity than anything - but snow maybe by this afternoon.  No accumulations.

It's ok.  I have been cold for the last 2 weeks, so just another day in the fridge.

They have put up a "no train horn" corridor near us, so I can no longer hear the trains whistle.  But they can't do away with the noise of the motors!  They'll not take it all away from me, by golly!

CW, you did not have anything to do with that heist of pig's feet in California, did you? Surely, you are not that desperate for variety.Smile It is possible to buy them in some stores here, but I had enough back in the early sixties. I almost had an opportunity to eat some chitterlings back then, but the restaurant had sold out by the time I learned they were being served.

Stay warm.

Johnny, nope, it wasn't me.  Absolutely do NOT care for pigs feet.  Or chitterlings, either.  When it comes to pigs, I'll eat bacon and ham.  That's it.  Don't even care for pig's tales.  I may have been raised in the country, but those things are things to eat, that this country girl says "No way, no how, unh unh".

Well, it is almost midnight here and I hadn't planned on posting today, but I saw an item on the 11:00 news I wanted to mention.

Two or three years ago, in the Lounge, I had mentioned seeing crews removing what had been the original CPR yard in Calgary, later called the Industrial Yard. Because of that removal, the City was able to build an underpass under the remaining double track mainline. They held the Grand Opening of the underpass today. What I thought worth mentioning about that was, there was aerial video taken showing what is left of almost the oldest disturbed soil left in Calgary. The first settlers here guessed wrongly about the new townsite, and the CPR broke virgin topsoil to build their mainline and the original yard. The video showed there are only a few spots left where you can still make out the outline of the original subgrade under the tracks. Once this recession ends, redevelopment of the site will commence, and those final traces of history will be gone. I think I may try to get down there soon to see if there are any opportunities to photograph it before it is gone.

27° now, dropping to a low of 21° tonight, and a high of 46° tomorrow. Time for bed now.Zzz

We had a touch of winter today--a light snow in the valley this morning, and, out here, it was all gone from the ground before sunset.

Mom called last night from Arizona - wanted to know how we'd weathered the storm here.

I told her, "just fine."  It didn't snow a single flake here at the house.

We'll be seeing the white stuff soon enough, though.

Very nice outside:  we have a temp of 70.5 degrees and nice, warm sunshine.  Produce went very well this morning:  guess my talk to everyone did some good, as they all acted like the adults they are, and not little bitty kids.  Very well behaved today.

Since Walt and Sarah are working on the kitchen sink, supper tonight is:

Pizza   Pizza   Pizza!!

1.    Anchovie

2.    Cheese

3.    Hawaiian

4.    Pepperoni/mushroom

5.    Supreme

6.  Ham & green pepper

Hope you have all had a very good day, will have a very good evening, also.  Take care, and see you guys and gals, probably in the morning.

......One doorbell ring last evening.

Glad that "holiday" is behind us.  And now a new month...011 is winding down.

Sunshine this morning.  Some frost too.  35 degrees, when I first checked the instrument.  To be nice by this afternoon.  Hope so.

To be a good weather day.  And I'm looking forward to it.  Have scheduled {in my mind}, of things to do today.  Go pay Fall installment of taxes at the City / County Building downtown.  Sometime today, another mowing, along with catching any leaves that have come over on us with a good mulching.  Tractor / mower does a good job on this procedure.  Sometimes we can get away without bagging any...!

Looks like NBA basketball keeps pushing later and later, if any, this season.  Generally, like to keep up with our Pacers.  This year, when...Unknown.
