The sun is shining, but it is still mighty cold outside.  Temp is to get in the upper 40s, but the wind chill is in the mid 30s.

Our meal selection for the rest of the day is:  Chinese:

Appetizers:

1.  Shrimp egg roll;   2.  roast pork egg roll;   3.  Fried wonton;   4.  Crab rangoon

Soup:

1.  Wonton soup;   2.  Egg drop soup;  3.  Chicken noodle soup;  4.  Vegetable w/bean curd soup

Fried Rice:

1.  roast  2.  fresh shrimp;  3.  beef;  4.  chicken;  5.  House special; 6.  vegetable

Other Selections:

beef or roast lo mein

Beef chow mein

sweet & sour pork

Shouse special chow mei fun

Beef chop suey

Chicken w/broccoli

Beef w/broccoli

Pepper steak w/onion

Moo goo gai pan

seafood combo

boneless spare ribs

beef w/snow peas

We're going to need to bundle up tonight, if we go outside:  supposed to be down in the low 40s early evening to low 30s or upper 20s by morning.  Funny, but I don't recall putting in a request for winter to come just a little over a month early.  Grumpy

Bruce, isn't it amazing how many people believe that the whole world shares their likes and dislikes? I have been tempted at times when someone is stopped beside me with his sound system blaring (and ruining his hearing) something that is unlike what I like to roll my window down, get his attention, and thank him for sharing--but let him know I have my own system so I do not need him to share what he has.

Whenever I hear a vehicle with the reverberating bass, I always yearn for some sort of directed electro-magnetic pulse gun which I could point at the offending vehicle and cause its audio amplifiers driving the speakers to blow out.

a Mercedes SL convertible goes flying by in the snow flurries......Top down, radio blaring, oblivious to the weather...Huh?

CW, the roast beef sandwich and apple pie to follow sounds great.

24° now. There is a bit of snow on the ground.

No new RR news that I can see.

MC's story reminded me of something I saw almost 20 years ago. I was walking about a block from my place, at the next intersection over, where there is a traffic light. I was waiting to cross and a VW Golf Cabriolet with the top down pulls up. It was in early spring and it was only 35-40°, but sunny. This car had a spectacularly loud and clear stereo system. And as loud as you ever heard a car stereo system there was The Carpenters singing, "There's a kind of hush, all over the world tonight"  !!! Bizarre doesn't begin to cover it. I was left there standing almost through the next cycle of lights listening to the sound fading in the distance. That was really a strange scene.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  39 cloudy degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Supposed to make it up to the upper 40s for a high today.  May see some flurries, but its doubtful, due to the dry air.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, hot water for hot tea are all fresh and ready to go.  Bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, hash brown taters, biscuits & gravy are on the warmer/serving station.

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, your morning, take care and see you all later.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  56 degrees and rain, rain, rain.  Just steady rain at this time, but they say it could be really heavy at times during the day today.  Checked the rain gauge last evening, and it had 2.25 in it around 6 p.m.

Mookie, our temp is to be slowly dropping during the day today, and we're to be colder tomorrow thru???  So long as we don't get any snow or any of that other nasty stuff.  Definitely not ready to that yet.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, cold chocolate milk, hot and cold cider, etc. are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, bagels and bear claws.

Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only a week and one day away.  My goodness, how 2011 has flown by.  And I haven't even begun to look for Christmas cards yet.  I usually start addressing them over Thanksgiving weekend.  Any of you I have addresses for, may be late getting your card from us.

Any hoo, you all have a good morning, keep dry, if you're getting this rain, take care, and I'll see you all later.

Chilly.  No snow. Not much wind either.  We are looking pretty good re: precipitation.  30% - hardly worth mentioning.  I am glad.

Warmer this weekend.  That makes me even "gladder".

A gas station on the main drag in Watertown has been undergoing reconstruction of late.  They must have just installed the new roadside sign as it was on tonight when I went by.

I tried to take a picture, but it didn't come out.

I'm sure a lot of folks figured it was a sign of things to come.  The prices listed on the sign:  Unleaded 8.88.9, Diesel 9.99.9...

Well, Walt and I are back home.  Guess everything went well this morning.  Won't really know anything for 24 to 48 hours, whenever the Dr. gets the reports from the hospital, and calls me.  The hardest thing was keeping my head still, when they did the cat scan.   On the Field Vision test, I almost fell asleep during that.  We were back home somewhere between 10:40 and 10:50.  We both went back to bed, to try to catch up on our missed sleep.  Seems like every 45 minutes to an hour, overnight, I was waking up.  So no wonder, I kept trying to fall asleep during the vision test.

The menu for the rest of the afternoon and tonight:

Hamburgers, cheeseburgers w/fries (regular and curly) and garden salad.

Or, you can have leftover warmed up roast, taters & carrots, etc.

I may try to go back to bed, and get a little bit more sleep, probably just cat nap.  A good day for it, with all the clouds and off/on rain.  Current temp is 60 degrees.

Everyone have a good evening, stay as dry as possible, if you're getting the rain, like  we are, and take care.

....That was a really long string of weather front that passed thru here several hours ago....Looking on the active radar on here it stretched for 6 or 700 miles or more....

Perhaps the same system touching up in your area Larry.  See my edited note below in an earlier post.

We appear to be at the northern end of the front, and it has passed us with little more that some rain to show for it.

South of us is another story, including some watch boxes in SW NY and northern PA.

It was really nice today - just over 60, so I concentrated on getting some stain on parts of the house that were ready for it.  As a result I didn't do any work on the roof, and I really do need to get that last couple of sections up there to stop the leaks.  Tomorrow isn't looking bad, so maybe I'll be able to wrap up the current portion of the project.

Another streak of weather diagonial across Indiana right now, moving east. Tornado advisory along it until 8 pm.  68 degrees here now, and some wind has come back to us....Looking out the office window here, there are some fast moving clouds with a heading of northeast.

We should have it cross our area within the hour.

Edit:     That nasty line of weather has passed us several hours back now....Haven't looked at the rain gauge, but we'll check it in the morning and I'm guessing we've added another inch.  Some nasty wind with it as it passed too.  That's our cost of having this warm weather this time of the season.  {And finding cooler air someplace to mix with it}.

No rain yet for us, either, Joe.  But should be here sometime this evening.  Looks like Walt and I will get very wet in the morning, going to the hospital.

Joe, there are always leftovers in containers, marked for you in the fridge.  Always have your name on the containers, listed with what is inside.

And for this afternoon and tonight, there's leftover roast, taters, carrots, and other leftovers from yesterday's Sunday Dinner menu.

Guess this will be the last you see/hear from me, until either late tomorrow, or probably Wednesday morning.  Ride will be here to pick up Walt and me, about 6:30 in the morning.  (One of those "O dark 30 numbers.)  Everyone take care of yourselves, and take care.

We can't have Colorado tumbleweeds mixing with Nebraska tumbleweeds!  They make Kansas ones!

Sounds like we may have wind from the good old days.  Grumpy  We have gotten pretty boring here in the last 25 years!  Actually, 40 is more normal.  Above that it is a disturbance.

Mooks;

Batten down the hatches. A couple hundred thousand tumbleweeds are headed your way at high speed. Trucks blown over and blizzard warnings in the high country. We've got winds sustained at 40+ MPH with gusts in places up to 115MPH. The highway department lost lots of signs in the past few days and windmill blades bent past the point of no return.

Might put wings or a sail on the SUV this weekend for the trip east.

....A new week, good morning to all.  Wind has finally moved on.  Warm temps this morning above normal....Mid 60's now.

Early this morning {still dark}, we had a line of weather pass here {I didn't hear it}, but checking the rain gauge, we received 1.85" of rain in a short time.  Water across the street, which I have not seen in perhaps years.

Believe there is a threat of another weather mess to pass by us sometime later today.  Right now, it's bright with the sun breaking thru at times.

I thought I was finished mowing....but if it keeps up with sunshine and some warm days.....I will have to uncover the tractor in the little barn and make another run over the yard....Kind of unusual for this time of year.  It is very pretty bright green still...!

Good Monday morning everyone.  Partly cloudy with a temp of 67 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Supposed to get back up into the low 70s today. Also supposed to get some rain sometime this afternoon; could be some heavy downpours, too.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.  And on the warmer/serving station this a.m.:  bacon, sausage, eggs, bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, toast.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Good evening. I just finished looking at the 11:00 news and found a bit of RR news. It seems CP wants to put up a chain link fence to stop dog walkers, fishermen, kids, and other pedestrians from crossing the mainline to get access to the north bank of the Bow River. Not really earth shaking and I suspect it will get resolved to everyone's satisfaction, but I thought it noteworthy for one thing, Calgary is getting so big that this issue is happening 14 miles west of the old CPR station site. I've got to say, I didn't see that one coming.

32° now, dropping to 25° with a chance of flurries later tonight.

Zardoz, I'm gonna try your recipe:  as soon as I can find some unsalted Irish butter!!  If I can't find that, could I substitute Land of Lakes unsalted organic butter?

Our Sunday Dinner is now ready, and on the warmer/serving station:

The roast, taters and carrots, other veggies are just waitin' for you all to dig in!

Dessert today:  Freshly baked and frosted chocolate cake w/whatever flavor ice cream you want, and a fresh-from-the-oven peachcobbler and Dutch apple pie.

We are currently at 66 degrees (high today is projected to be 67), but very cloudy/overcast skies, with winds 25 to 35 mph, gusting to 40 mph.

Everyone enjoy your afternoon, take care, keep safe and see you all later.
