.....A cooool morning we have. But the sunshine is helping to bring some warmth to it. Believe we're to stay dry today. Appears the weather coming up from the New Orleans system is tracing north, but then bending sharply to the east, and most will miss Indiana.
Grass mowing time sometime today....and must {hopefully}, get to watch {some}, of the Atlanta Nascar Cup race....if it's not rained delayed again to tomorrow.
But first, driving Jean to the dentist for routine cleaning. Then from there we'll head for some breakfast....Perhaps a good time to take the new current Trains mag. with, as i've not cracked it open as of yet.
Noted the story {this morning}, of the teen age girl loosing both legs in trying to climb on to a coal train.....Such tragedy....!

Good Tuesday morning everyone. Very cool 56 degrees, with light rain falling here in Louisville this morning. AC is definitely off! Hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day yesterday. Walt, Sarah and I went and played pool (billiards) yesterday afternoon. I even made a few shots yesterday! It has been about 1 1/2 years since I played. Really enjoyed it, and we all had a good time.
Coffee is ready, as well as juices. Hot water for hot tea and have hot chocolate this morning, too. On the serving station this morning: bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, tater tots, biscuits & gravy.

well matt and I went out this morning.Q500 had dropped off something in the yard.There was a work train with tonka toys and a ballast train with a gp 30 slug.q 395 came by with a sd 40-3 rebuild.We also saw q 010(formally 110) meet L 163 at FC.Then we went to Menards and got some items for some home products.Cw will take a burger and a hot dog for work tonight.

Decent weekend on the RR. We decided not to run today (Labor Day) as pretty much everyone up in the Central Adirondacks is headed home, and those who are home stay there.
I'll be spending this week getting ready for a train show right in my back yard (but not literally).
On a somewhat humorous weather note, it appears that the threat of severe weather in the Mohawk Valley yesterday became real. Any damage that may have occured is no joke (there was some, but no injuries), but the YouTube video that accompanies this article, while a tad boring at first, is funny as you listen to the reaction of the person shooting the video - mostly in the second half.

Happy Labour Day everyone. Even though we spell it differently, today is the first holiday Canada and the US have celebrated on the same day since Easter Sunday. In May we have Victoria Day one week before Memorial Day, in July we have Canada Day four days before Independence Day, and as we all learned here in August, while all Provinces have a Holiday on the first Monday, only some of the States do.
Although we haven't made it up to our forecasted high's the last couple of days, today is shaping up really well. It is 63° now, with a high of 84° expected. It only went down to the low fifties last night, so it is already warming up nicely. There are various organized events in several locations around the city. For the Football fans there is the "Labour Day Classic" game between the Calgary and Edmonton Canadian Football League teams. Even if you are not a football fan, like me, you have to keep up with this game or you look like a real dolt tomorrow.

.....We have a {relatively}, cool morning compared to what we've been having recently. But it's to be dry today. Maybe a little sunshine in the afternoon.
Just returned from our Meijer's store with one of their broasted chickens, to add to our get together {picnic type feed}, today. Four of us have been doing this several times this Summer. The other two, Neice and husband, spend Summers here in their recently purchased home for that purpose.
Various kinds of "picnic" foods are always present.
A bit cooler....Options are several, in one of our homes or our patio and possibly on their driveway next to the garage...Shaded from any wind.
Surprisingly, the big store was very busy this morning....Kind of took me by surprise.

Good Monday morning, and may you all have a Happy, Safe Labor Day! We are starting out with a temp of 66 degrees, with a brisk breeze blowing this morning. Our projected high for today: only 71 degrees! This is my kind of weather.
I have been awake for almost two hours. Don't ask me why, when alarm clock is not set, that I'm waking up before the dang chickens. Going to make for a looonnnnng day.
Coffee is ready, and juices are freshly made. Hot water for our hot tea drinkers, and have brewed fresh teas and they are in the fridge cooling. On the warmer/serving station this morning:
bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits w/your choice of milk gravy, or sausage gravy, choice of tater tots or fried taters, and an assortment of fresh fruits.

CW - I have had dry eyes for years and as Bruce said - OTC drops for dry eyes might be what you need. My eyes would water so bad, I was always crying. Would run down my cheeks at the most inappropriate time.
I did have to switch to a gel tears which is a little more expensive, but the liquid ones don't do as well.
Been out driving my allergies nuts, but it was in the low 70's - all day - with really blue sky and white puff clouds. A perfect summer day! Will be cool for a few days now. Lovin' it.
BNSF is running their coal trains south out of Lincoln after a closure of about 2 1/2 months because of floods. We saw 3 loaded coal trains going to KC (2) and GA or ALA area. I was excited!

Bruce, unfortunately I don't have a problem with dry eyes: my eyes water all the time! Maybe that is the problem!
Not sure what our current temp is, but it has been a lovely, semi cool afternoon, with some off and on rain showers. Last shower was about an hour, hour and a half ago.
For our Sunday Dinner, we have a "buffet" of sorts, on the warmer/serving station, ranging from leftover pizzas to burgers, hot dogs, brats, steaks, pork chops and chicken, along with various veggies and salads.

Just a couple of quick notes before I head out to Sunday supper with family.
CW, I was experiencing headaches I thought were cause by faulty glasses. Went to the Doc and he says my only problem was my eyes were too dry, and I should get some over the counter eye drops. So I went to the local drug store and I bought their house brand product. That stuff worked, and best of all it was cheap. It is looking like I will go through about 3½ bottles a year, at about $5 a bottle.
Tom, I am very glad and relieved to see you back here after that hurricane problem you had down in your part of the US.
Peace be with you. Presently, 79 and sunny in Carolina, expected to top out around 94.
Our thunderchickens whomped Eastern Carolina yesterday. Looks lke the season is off to a great start.
The right hand situation is getting worse and typing is a real chore now. Been using it to much on facebook and am paying for it with the resulting discomfort and pain. I need a PC that can take dictation!!

Good Sunday morning everyone. Currently 80 degrees here in Louisville. Nice breeze outside, waiting for the rain to come in. The 'weather guessers' are saying we could see a couple of storms later this afternoon. High today is to only be in the low 80s.
Coffee is freshly brewed, juices are freshly made, and other morning beverages are also ready to go. For breakfast, we have:
1. Pancakes (plain, blueberry and strawberry) with whatever kind of syrup or jam, jelly or preserves you want on your pancakes, sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs.
2. Bacon, sausage, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy and scrambled eggs.
Going to call the optical place and see if they're open tomorrow, and try to go pick out a new pair of glasses. Think that may help alleviate some of these stupid headaches, hopefully.
Notice something missing over on the right hand side: Members Online doesn't seem to be on the list.

CW, that sounds good tonight. It is a little cool here for ice cream.
It is 59° here now, but the building's AC is still running which is making it cool in the apartment. It is always this way here in the fall with our daily temperature extremes. Tonight we have a forecasted low of 41°, and a forecasted high of 81° tomorrow. The next seven days are expected to be similar.
After I finish my pizza I think I will sit back and finish reading Kalmbach's "In Search of Steam II". Everyone have a good evening.
At 5:58 p.m., our temp is 101 degrees. It is very hot outside, but we do have a little bit of a breeze blowing, so it isn't too bad.
Walt and I had a very good time at the Flea Market. Saw our friends from High Sierra Barbecue, and we got a few things. Managed to get 3 Clive Cussler hardbound books for $5. That was a very good bargain. Walt got about 50 Model Railroader magazines for $10. The guy was selling them for $1.00 apiece, but told Walt he could have all of them for $10. I agree he got a bargain on that purchase! Plus ,we got a few other things as well.

Sarah's just leaving to go to work, and Walt is still sleeping. He and I will be going out to the Fair Grounds around noon, to go the Stewart Flea Market. Have out Friday Fish Fry ready. It is very cut down tonight, as we only have Fish sandwiches, fries, cole slaw, hush puppies and cole slaw.

Well, guess what, folks: our actual temp today was 100 degrees, without the heat index! Relative humidity is only 37%. Current temp is down to 96 degrees. Hottest day of the year, and hottest September in 57 years. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!
For supper tonight, here is the menu:
1. Sloppy joes with chips and a nice, cold tossed garden salad
2. Turkey, ham, beef or chicken subs/hoagies with chips and salad
Even with AC, it's too cotton pickin' hot to be in the kitchen, doing a lot of cooking.
Desserts tonight: I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!! Any flavor you want, including popsicles, fudge bars, ice cream bars, etc.
