...Nice Sat. morning here in Muncie.  Must go mow the yard.  Possible rain later in the day.  Just checked the moving radar on here, and see nothing in Indiana now, so should be ok.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Nice and pleasant here this morning, with a temp in the low 60s, will be mostly cloudy, with a high of 75 degrees today.  Quentin, the doctor's office scheduled my appointment for Tuesday afternoon.

Our Saturday morning brunch is now on the warmer/serving station:  bacon, sausage, grits, eggs, toast, biscuits, country fried ham w/red eye gravy, and sausage gravy, and hash browns, apples, peaches, and blueberry pancakes.

Everybody have a good morning, take care, whatever you have lined up for your activities.  See you all this evening for our pizza fest.

Just an FYI to anybody coming through the Louisville area from St.Louis, or going to St. Louis; the Sherman-Minton Bridge (I-64) is closed indefinitely due to the finding of some severe structural cracks in one of the spans today. That only leaves two highway  bridges over the Ohio to carry all the traffic to and from In. here.

Bruce - while I am not ready to give up summer, I sure have enjoyed the cooler air blowing in here from Canada.  It has made our  Sept very enjoyable.  We will hit low 80's and then back into the 70's, which is great no matter where you live.

Send cool air until it starts to liquify - then donate it to Alaska.

CW, I am very sorry to hear of your latest difficulties. I have had more than my share of falls over the years. I don't like to spend too much time talking about it, but the reason I became an accountant was my various medical issues didn't permit me to partake of more rigorous jobs.. As it is, I cannot get a drivers license because of my visual issue, and for the last 16 years I travel outside with an electric four wheel scooter. However, I still walk around the apartment and when I visit other peoples homes. My business and shopping trips are all done on the scooter though.

We never did get our second 30°C day this year. The best we could do the the last three days was 27°C or 81°F. Actually, we haven't has many 30°C days the last few summers. It make me wonder about this climate change business more and more.

No new local RR news, although  I see CP is certainly having a time of it in the eastern US with all the flooding caused by the recent storms.

C W:  Wishing you good luck in getting any problem taken care of from your fall.  Hope you can get in to the Dr. by at least, Tues.

Had an important Dr. appointment for Jean this morning, and we did well....Thanks to the Lord.

Headed to our "family restaurant", Bruner's...after completing that appointment and met some family members, and breakfast.  That is the location here in Muncie that is close to the double track CSX east / west line, and in one hour we saw 4 trains pass....2 passing, at the same time.  So  that was a pretty good timing.

Very light rain at times this morning, and even a bit  of sunshine earlier.  Low 70's now.  62 for our low earlier this morning.

Mookie, for the most part, I'm o.k.  Just banged up the right knee pretty good, and the left knee is hurting more than usual.  Did call, and I have an appointment for Thursday at 2:15.  That is the earliest I can get in to see him.  Walt is still asking me if I blacked out, and I'm still saying "No, I didn't black out.  Just walked in the door, and proceeded to fall forward, flat on my face."  As a matter of fact, I almost pulled him out of the chair, here at the computer, because I was pulling on it, trying to stop myself from falling.  Didn't help.  Thumbs DownSigh

Here is our Friday Fish lineup:

FISH:  Bass, Catfish, Cod, Flounder, Haddock, Halibut, Perch, Salmon steaks and Salmon patties, Tuna steaks, Shrimp and Tilapia.

SIDE DISHES:  Baked beans, Cole slaw, Corn on the cob, Cornbread, Fries, Hush puppies, Breaded fried mushrooms, Spinach, Mixed greens, Macaroni & cheese.

DESSERTS:  Chocolate cake, Yellow cake w/caramel icing, chocolate fudge, peanut butter fudge, and the following cobblers:  apple, cherry, peach, and blueberry and pecan pies.

Everyone have a good afternoon, enjoy it, and take care.  See you all later.

Good Friday morning everyone.  59, 60 degrees this morning, with some patchy fog, light rain/drizzle.  Supposed to make it up to about 70, 72 degrees today.

Mookie, have seen the Blue Angels fly over our house, several years ago, when they were in town for Thunder over Louisville during Derby time.  Really enjoyed watching them fly over the house.

Larry, sounds like your plate is completely overflowing for the weekend!

Well, I did it again, folks:  went to the grocery yesterday afternoon, and when I came home, walked in the door, and promptly fell down, face forward to the floor.  Very sore and stiff this morning, although not quite as stiff as I was last night.  Guess I'll be calling the doc after about 9 a.m.  Was told to call him, if/whenever I fall, so will do as told.  Have a raw spot on my right knee (which is the one that I had the surgery on almost 5 years ago).  Feeling nice and tender this morning. The reason I didn't call yesterday, was his office was already closed for the day (happened just after 5 p.m.).

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  Doughnuts:  cake and yeast varieties, including the chocolate covered, cream filled ones, vanilla filled, and fruit filled, along with some assorted fruit danish.  Also have bacon, sausage, eggs and toast.

Everyone enjoy your morning and take care.  See you all later.

Mook - those things can sound too close when they're a fair distance away.

Busy day Friday.  Between preparations for the train show this weekend and a local visit by the governor (fire and EMS asked to attend), I've got my work cut out for me.

Saturday it's the train show all day.

Sunday, before heading to the train show for day 2, I've got to head to our fire training center and set up my portable PA for the 9/11 memorial service there.

And somewhere in there, I've got to gather up all the stuff I want the town to pick up for the community clean up on Monday....

Well - went out to watch site.  Watched BNSF do some work on a switch heater; ate lunch trackside; watched several freights, several coal trains.  Enjoyed our beautiful weather - high 70's - nice east breeze and as part of the entertainment - we watched the Blue Angels practice for their show this weekend.

Came home - came to 2nd floor to work on puter, opened south window for breeze and took short nap.

Seems a Blue Angel must have followed us home because one of them went right over our house just a few mins ago and I think he ruffled the shingles on the roof.  I was sure he was coming right in the open window!

I enjoy watching the planes, but just don't want them too close to where I am sitting.  I have a healthy respect for trains, planes and lightning.  Don't want to get too close to any of them.    We will watch them from a safe place this weekend - under the by-pass and in the shade and hopefully a safe distance from all of them.  (earplugs in order!)

Afternoon all.  Another cloudy, gloomy afternoon.  Sun was shining this morning, but the clouds have rolled back in.

The beef stew and cornbread are ready, and on the warmer/serving station.  There's also some tossed salad for anyone who might want a bowl of that.

Regular dessert menu items are also available.

Tom, I'll email you my address/(es).

Everyone have a good afternoon ,and I'll try to get back in later on.

Morning, yall. 61 and fair in Carolina, expected reach 81 later today.

I finally got my stuff reentered, but lost an awful lot of stuff. My address book for one. If you have been receiving emal fom me, please let me know so I can relist you. What is particulary irksome is that I had the whole drive backed up on a flash drive, but when I tried to access it, I found gibberish!

Everyone have a safe day and take care. Peace be with you!

Good Thursday morning everyone.  We have a chilly 59 degrees this morning, going for a high in the mid 60s again today.  The morning news' weather guesser said we are having weather we normally have at the end of October, first of November.

Coffee and juices, hot chocolate, hot water for tea and all the other morning beverages are freshly made, and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, oatmeal, biscuits & sausage gravy.

Going to be making a nice big pot of beef stew later on this morning for our lunch and supper meals.

Everyone have a good morning, and see you all later.

Well, this afternoon, I went and picked out my new frames for my new glasses.  I should have my new glasses sometime next week, or maybe the next week.  Didn't have too hard a time picking out the new frames.  She had me try about 4 or 5 pairs, that were too large for my face.  Finally found a pair I liked, and went for them.

Joe, you're in luck:  I've made some more cornbread to go with the vegetable beef soup.  It is definitely a soup kind of day.  Maybe tomorrow, I'll fix some beef stew.

Everyone enjoy your supper, have a good evening, and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Hello.

Not too much to report on today. I am a bit sore from an unusual amount of exertion yesterday. A lot of items that had needed to be done fell into place, and I finished them all. It would have been better had I paced myself.

An interesting tidbit in the weather forecast today. It was forecast to reach 30°C today. That is about 87°F. Nothing too significant there, but it makes a nice round number in Celsius. However, at 3 PM it is still only 81°. The interesting part, if we had made it to 30°C it would have been only the second time in 2011! The first time was only last week. I haven't heard talk of long range records yet, but we must be well on the low side of average for summer temperatures this year. The "experts" say they don't know why this is, but suspect that one of the major Pacific Ocean currents forced cooler air on us longer than normal. This same delay may cause us to experience a warmer than normal fall. My 2 CentsMe, I don't think so. It think the cooler summer is just going to make it easier for cold winter weather to dig in.

No new RR news today.

Bruce

Modelcar
Nascar fans witnessed a good competition during the last 10 or so laps yesterday down in the "rain delayed" Atlanta Cup Car race.

Think of the time and money that could be saved it all the racers drew straws and only the top half dozen or so battled it out for 10 laps - which is where most races are won or lost.

Another half dozen could be randomly chosen to hold a demolition derby in front of the stands, to satisfy the fans desire for a good wreck...

....Seems like Monday morning.  Holidays mess up the week day's ID.

Very light rain at times  here this morning.  My first peek at our weather instrument reading was 59 degrees.  Perhaps it won't get much more than that today.  Mostly overcast.

Nascar fans witnessed a good competition during the last 10 or so laps yesterday down in the "rain delayed" Atlanta Cup Car race.

Those two drivers...{Gordon & Jimmy}, had their cars on the ragged edge trying to out duel the other, and finally Gordon got the monkey off his back and did the win.  Also he now is the 3rd all time winner in Nascar Sprint Cup car racing.  He worked for that win yesterday.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Very cloudy, with a temp of 60 degrees and some sprinkles, drizzles this morning.  Going to be that way all day, too, with our temp supposed to only get to 62 degrees for a high later this afternoon.

Quentin, thank you for the extra info.  After I read your reply yesterday, Walt was around by the computer, and I asked him.  He pointed out the thread, so I need to say "Thank you, Quentin and Walt, for pointing me in the right direction!"

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot water for tea, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  A good, hot breakfast is ready and on the warmer/serving station:  bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, hash browns and/or tator tots.

Sitting here at the computer, with the front door open.  Every once in a while, I'll see either Lil Mook or Lil Mud (getting harder and harder to tell them apart), on the front porch, scampering back and forth, coming to the door, to look inside.

Everyone have a good morning, keep warm, if you're in the ex-blistering hot zones to now very cool zones, and I'll see you all later.

P.S.  If anyone has any meal requests for today, please let me know.  After all, I don't always know what you would like to have, so let me know.

Soup is always good, as since fall weather seems to have arrived here, all the better!

It might have gotten to 70 today, but the sun sometimes makes the weather station read a bit high.  At least it didn't rain.

Neighboring FD got their "new" ladder tower fire truck today - went down to watch them play with it a bit.  Pretty impressive.  It's actually a used truck, but considering the price of a new one these days...

Quentin, I haven't heard anything about that girl.  Where was that?

Produce went well this morning.  Did have a small turnout, only about 40 something people braved the rain and very breezy conditions.  We couldn't go into the gym today, as they had everything set up for a luncheon after a funeral this morning.  Several people pulled out jackets this morning (myself included), to help brave the very cold breeze and rain this morning.  They didn't bring us a whole lot:  just some potatoes, iceburg lettuce, bib lettuce and salad mix, and some nectarines.  That was it for today.

For our meals for the rest of the day, I have fixed some homemade vegetable beef soup w/baked cornbread.  Figured that would hit the spot for a rainy, cool temps day.

Our high today probably won't  make it much over 69 degrees, maybe 70.
