.....I'd imagine "color" isn't quite as bad as some vehicles have just the small "emergency spare", and that really stands out and really "looks" temporary.  And of course they are speed and distance limited too.

A deceptively nice looking day here. It is sunny, but only 50° with a 12 mph NW wind. Definitely jacket weather.

Nothing else exciting happening here today, and no new local RR news that I can see.

Except for a couple of really heavy downpours early this morning (between 6:30 and 7:30), we've had light rain all day long.  Got my brace adjusted.  It has a couple of springs (front & back)  that had broken.  The lady said she was glad to see that, in a way, because it meant I have been wearing the brace like I'm supposed to.  So now, it is nice and tight, and no squeaks whatsoever.

For supper tonight:  more leftovers of:

1.  Roast, taters & carrots

2.  Fried chicken and all the veggies I made yesterday afternoon.

Mookie, haven't seen Little Mook and Little Mud since this morning; Mama Kiki, however, has been parked on the front porch just about all day.  If she's not there, she's lying/sitting on the glider, or in Walt's lap, whilst he is sitting on the glider.

Everyone have a good evening, those getting rain, try to stay dry, and I'll see you all in the a.m.

Evening Everyone!

Just checking in for the night. Hope everyone is well!

Southwest Wyoming has gotten COLD! Haven't been warmer than 70 in the last 2 weeks and the lows have now dipped into the mid 30s.... I am beginning to think that I have gotten the last bloom out of my roses for the year. Been keeping busy between work and starting construction on my layout. I am also considering getting my Bachelor's degree online. Not sure where to find the time though.

Was just wondering if you would check in, RJ.  We are playing Wyoming in Laramie this weekend and thought you might be peeking in to see me in my Husker Black!  I hear that since both teams have red, we will wear black.  Wyoming sez it is a good color to wear to a funeral.  Game On!

Cw - maybe they have bidness down the street?

Mookie,

Game on indeed! Wyoming has the colors of Brown and Gold. But if the Huskers want to wear black to their own funeral that is fine by us! Just don't be scared of all the cannon blasts that go off when Wyoming scores all those points! I hope the ROTC boys dont get worn out for all the pushups they will be doing! 1 point = 1 pushup! The Huskers are in for a surprise when they come to War Memorial and play on Jonah Field!!!!

We are having a week or so of cool nights (down in the fifties) and warm days (up into the eighties). No rain since Friday, and our September precipitation has been short of the average. I cut our sprinkler system off after this morning's session. Except for covering the swamp cooler, it is shut down for the winter, and I still need to put the plug into the storm door. Otherewise, I need to only bring a hose back inside to make ready for the winter.

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  Not too bad this morning:  rain has gone, but we are a bit foggy this morning, with a temp in the mid 60s.  We only made it to 67 or 68 yesterday, and not supposed to get much higher than about the mid 70s today. then, more rain coming in tomorrow.

Johnny and RJ, good to see you guys in here!!  Welcome back to you both!Welcome

Coffee is freshly brewed and ready to go.  Juices are made fresh this morning, hot water ready for hot tea, and have chocolate milk ready to be heated for hot chocolate.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  oatmeal, toast, bacon, sausage, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/gravy.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care, and I'll see you all later this afternoon.

RJ - my error - Driver corrected me - it is Wisconsin that is same colors as Huskers.  At any rate, we will have our hands full with Wyoming this weekend.  Whatever colors they wear.  And I always wear black - for the Blackshirts!  Look like a nosebleed in red anyway.

Mookie -  Wyoming did get revamped uniforms this year. 9 different ones! The ones they wore for the Texas State game on Sept, 10th had a dark brown helmet with Steamboat on it that was filled with stars and stripes like I have as my avatar. The bad thing about this weekend is that Versus has exclusive rights to air the game on TV and our stupid cable company won't get it! This is the third year in a row that the biggest game of the year is televised and we cant see it! We had Texas the last 2 years, Nebraska this year and next, then Texas and Nebraska once more... All on that channel we don't get. I think I am switching to satellite.....

RJ, we have satellite here at home (DirecTV), and we much prefer it to the Insight Cable or Dish satellite!  Not as many problems.

Produce went well this morning.  We had 63 people.  I told them give us enough for 60 people, so we still ran out of most of the food:  potatoes, red onions, sweet potatoes, cabbage, iceburg lettuce, plain vanilla yogurt and suchhinni squash.

For lunch and supper menus:  Mexican Fiesta time!

Burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, chimichangas, fajitas, Mesquite grilled steak and chicken, Spanish rice, etc.

Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later, hopefully.

Well, we have another nice looking, if a bit cool, day here today. It is sunny and 59° with a chilly S 12 mph wind.

The weather guessers record remains intact. In the five or so years since I first subscribed to weather warnings on my cell phone, they have been wrong every time they have sent out the first frost warning of the year. It only got down to about 36° last night. I mentioned yesterday that it was sunny, and I think there must have been enough radiant heating to keep the ground warm enough to prevent freezing.

No new local RR news.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Currently 69 degrees here in Louisville, with a little bit of rain due in anytime.  Should clear out this afternoon, and our high today should be around 75 degrees.  Looking for cooler temps this weekend, with highs in the low to mid 60s, and lows at night down in the 50s.

Well, I think we have our printer problems solved.  It took a little over 4 hours, of sitting here at the computer and printer, talking with a Kodak agent in India, to get everything straightened out, and the printer working like it should.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer/serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.

Howdy all: We went to Mt. Rushmore area via Grand Island NE & Alliance. We counted 30 E/B coal trains,  3 empty W/B and and another 3 E/B general freight. That was the best day ever for us. More than half of the trains were stopped. Don't know if the bottleneck was Grand Island. We did see the MOW guys cutting in a new wye somewhere along there.

Nice day here today.  Fallish/summerish.  Perfect

BNSF is wearing out the new tracks south out of Lincoln.  They ran a train about every hour (I looked at the clock each time) and still running them this morning.  They must have completely cleared the yard by now.  Grain Trains will be the big thing until early winter.

Economy healthy in the train business - at least here in the True Midwest.

....Oh boy....Talking to India trying to solve an electronic problem....That really sounds like fun C W....

Perhaps I put up with some problems and live with them in place of even trying to understand a conversation as that.

I like our HP printer 3 in 1, and it really performs the tasks with great satisfaction, but sometimes it doesn't want to "listen" to me, but rather than fight the "India" factor, I work around the situation and eventually get control of it.

Weather in Muncie today....very nice.  Was just outside in my bare feet and shorts as Jean just came back from the store and I unloaded the trunk of the car....Sunshine and mid 70s temps.  Nice.  Little pup {Ella}, came out and layed upside down on the concrete driveway basking in the sunshine as I was doing that.

But we all know Summer is leaving us and we have the next stuff to look forward to....Not too anxious about that.

But for today....Beautiful.

Jen.....Just signed up for the "Friends of the BNSF" forum....Looks inteteresting, but really know nothing about it yet.

CW: Any news on the interstate bridge problem?  I was wondering if there was any talk of getting the FRA to issue an emergency order allowing some commuter equipment to operate over the K and I bridge and the PRR bridges.?  Of course locating any spare commuter equipment would be a  problem.  { maybe some NJ TRANSIT?  }

Quentin, we hate having to go that route also and try to work around having to do that, this time it wasn't to be....even those people had trouble with fixing(?) the problem.(I have NO patience with things like that and like to yell, Paula gets tapped as Ambassador in certain situations.)

The Sherman Minton saga still goes on, about another 10 days before they say how much longer it will be closed and what they're going to do about it.

"Commuter Rail" has been mentioned, (on a couple of Yahoo Rail Groups I belong to, A Lot!) one of the biggest things mentioned is to bring in an Army unit to build a Pontoon Bridge across the river-with a moveable section for River traffic.(the moveable section was an after thought, they first mentioned the pontoon bridge mindless of any river traffic.)

Some of our Politicians(?) are trying to get the Pres. to come on down here from Cincy this week after he meets with their officials on the I-75/71 bridge there.

So...right now it's all talk, speculation, and a lot of griping.Tongue Tied

Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

Q - the website isn't all that spectacular - but there is a nice video about the flooding just east of us.

Otherwisee, I would just look around the website and check back maybe every 2-4 weeks.  So far, since I signed up, nothing has moved.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  68 degrees here in Louisville this morning; supposed to  get up to about 76 degrees today, with rain coming in late tonight, early tomorrow morning.  Guess we all get to say "So long, 'Long Hot Summer'!" today.  Autumn is to begin at 5:04  EDT tomorrow morning.

Heard last night that our local Congressman and one of our Senators will be traveling on Air Force One with the President to Cincinnati this morning, to try to get him to come on down here, and see the Sherman Minton Bridge for himself, and hopefully get some help/aid in getting the bridge repaired, and another bridge built.  There's even 3 or 4 individuals who are pledging X number of $$ to help get a new bridge started.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is also ready and on the warmer/serving station:  some blueberry muffins, bagels, bear claws, along with bacon, sausage links and patties, scrambled eggs, etc.

Everyone have a good morning, and Mook, if you'd like to sit out on the patio with coffee (or hot chocolate) this morning, I'm ready and waiting.  Or we could just sit here in the Cafe/Diner, right next to the window, and watch the trains from the inside, looking out at them.
