Good Wednesday morning everyone.  RJ, glad to see you got internet access back ,and could come in! Also hope you didn't have too much trouble finding Sunday's leftovers in the fridge.

86 degrees here in Lou., KY this morning.  Going to be another hot, hot day.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the serving station.

Walt and I watched a very good movie last night:  The Flim Fam Man with George C. Scott.  Very good movie, that was made back in 1967?

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Good Morning and peace be wth you. 81 and clear in Carolina this lovely day, headed for near 100 later. I have been busying meself on the wireless, chasing a station in the brand new country of South Sudan.

The Flim Flam Man had some good shots of the L&N, not to mention Sue Lyon and a good story line.

Everyone have a good safe and cool day.

Ah cooler air.  Only in the high 80's today and less humidity.  Now this is summer!

RJ - you answered one of my questions.  I was wondering how it managed to get up over the rails to actually get on the tracks.  Seeing them from a highway and actually being up close and personal with CP is a lot different.

Houston Ed said -" can you imagine discussing this with your co-workers?  What did you hit today?  Car, truck, ....sprinkler....."

Since no one was badly hurt, I am still chuckling about all this.  I cut out the article and posted it near my puter so I can look at it and laugh every so often!

Driver went fishing for first time in a couple of weeks.  He was moving so fast to get out of the house, I hope he remembered to stop and get Millie.  It would be a long walk/run otherwise....

Between the drought and the heat, bringing home a catch should be easy.  Just pick 'em up off the mud flats, already cooked....  Dinner

Lots of green and yellow coming our way on the radar - that's a good thing.  That sucking sound will be the sound of the ground soaking up every drop.  The inch and a half we got the other day hardly made a difference.

One of the volunteers on the RR made a comment about FRED (Flashing Rear End Device, EOT, marker, etc) the other day, which included "cuddly."

Never one to pass up a challenge (even if it wasn't directed at me):

.....3/4" of rain over night.  Very much needed.  Now cloudy and humid.....but the sun just broke thru...Now we'll get really warm.

Getting things ready to head east...We've been extremely dry for a month and a half....Forecast for out east....Rain..!

Now if we can keep enough legal tender with us to keep the car filled with gas...{Car  attains good fuel economy}, but the oil companies like a bit more than their share.

Afternoon, folks.  Well, it has been a busy busy day for me:  paying Bills all over the place, and going to get a little bit of food in the house.  My back is hurting from all the hustle and bustle this morning, early afternoon.

Hearing a few rumbles of thunder, but according to the radar, everything is to the south/southeast of us.  Our skies are very cloudy and overcast;  hopefully, we'll manage to get some rain, and I won't have to go out to water the flowers!

For supper tonight:  Sloppy Joes w/your choice of fries or tater chips, garden salad and fresh sliced red and yellow tomatoes.  (Larry, gonna have to try a couple slices of tomatoes with sugar on them.)

Mookie, I'm glad that the heat has temporarily left your neck of the woods!  Now, if it would leave our neck of the woods for a few days, we would love it!

Hard to believe, but school starts back here in Jefferson County on 8/13/11!  Of course, Walt and I don't have any school age children, but I am glad that the kiddos are going back to school!!

Everyone have  a good evening, take care and see you all in the morning.

hey Larry, is that a marker snuggi?

There are days around here when poor FRED could use one.

This one's just a nice plush version, so if you really like your marker, you can cuddle with it...Shy

CW, sloppy joes and fries sound great for supper. 70° and sunny now, but today was a bad day around here.

The City of Calgary had to rip up the street just north of our building to work on underground pipes. They started work with noisy machines at 8 AM and didn't stop until 5 PM. Then a tree trimming company showed up about 6 PM and finished about 15 minutes ago. They were pruning back trees so they wouldn't snap power lines passing through the branches. They should have issued all of us residents on this side of the building ear protection.Super Angry I haven't been able to listen to the radio or watch TV all day.

After I've finished eating I think I just want to sit in the quiet for awhile.

No new local RR news.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  73 degrees here in Louisville, and the air is a little bit cooler, with a breeze out of the north.  Supposed to only get to 91 for a high today.

Hope you all had a very enjoyable evening.  Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the serving station, all ready for you all.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and I'll see you all later.

.....5 degrees cooler this morning....That's good.  But rain in the east at least yesterday.

And now we head the trusty Lexus east, and Lord willing, hopefully we'll return in 4 or 5 days.

Everyone have a good weekend.

Peace be with you. 79 and clear in Carolina this morning, headed for the mid to high 90s.

The girls roused me up around 4 oclock, allowing that they needed to go out. I have been up ever since, watching the railcam from Fostoria among other things. That is quite a nice cam, and I love the sound. It helps to keep my interest up when no trains are around.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and cool

I never get to be on TV... but with freight railroads, that's usually a good thing.

Well, it is Friday, part II.  Needed an extra body today, which means instead of Th-Fr off, I'll have Fr-Sa off.  Seems like a fair trade.

It's been fun.  But it isn't much fun anymore.   Signing off for now.

Larry, great video!!

Our current temp is 83 degrees, should make it to 90 later on this afternoon.

Well, we have decided to name the little kittens:  the one we know is female, is now called Mookie,  instead of Explorer; the other one, formerly Bashful is now Mudchicken.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Our menu for the rest of the day:

Chicken Abracadabra w/mashed taters, baby vegetable medley and sliced tomatoes.

Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.

Does the kitten come with a shrink? Me thinks he's gonna have an identity crisis.

(Spent most of today avoiding snattlerakes at the local AFB - My hearing will return sometime tonight after being too close to some F16's scrambled for some reason. The engine noise and the sirens were a bit much.)

CW - I am flattered!  Mookie is definitely an easy kitty name.  Watch them closely - you will notice that Mookie will stand and look at Mud with great awe.  Like I said - he's the smartest chicken I know.

On laptop - this is hard.  My desktop has a broken connection with my cable company, so have to use this as a backup.  I don't know how people spend more than 30 sec on one of these.  They will be here on Monday to fix the connection - that might as well be 5 weeks if I have to use this.

I know, kwitchyerbellyachin - at least you have internet - even if it is like eating off a child's tea set.

Off until I work up the courage to do this again.

I got a spiffy wireless mouse for my laptop.  I get it out if I'm going to be working on the laptop for more than a few minutes, or especially if I'm doing graphics or the like.

If you've got a USB mouse, Ed's right on the mark.  Not all newer laptops have the old PS2 connections, though.

A lot of the folks were I worked had docking stations for their laptops.  Regular keyboard, regular mouse, regular monitor.

About ready for a weekend on the railroad.  Deer beware - I'm in the cab tomorrow!

Got a wireless mouse at Best Buy, $19.99.

Microsoft sells it.

Has more features than I could ever use.

Plug the little sender into the USB port, and go.

No wires, and the mouse works on any surface, no need for a mouse pad, uses a led and sensor, so the top of the desk, or the top of my jeans works just as well.

Been using a lap top and a netbook for a few years now, all the goodies of a CPU and less space used.

Aux hard drive holds more stuff that I will ever need, already has 3 to 4 thousand songs and reams of photos and have not even made a dent in the memory.

Mook, glad that you weren't offended by us naming kitty after you.  She's an independent little cuss, likes to explore, get away from the "general' area and seems to be interested in everything going on around her.  . . mudchicken, on the other hand; every time Mookie raises her paw, (or Mama Cat) goes back under the house.  (He has yet to adjust to visitors.)  (Loved MC's answer!...have not found any "shrinks" that will "do kitties"!)

I dislike laptops also, every time we have to borrow Sarah's, we bring along a mouse to use with it!

And the lap top's screen becomes wider and higher so you do not have to scroll from side to side.Smile That is one thing that I dislike about our laptop--its screen is smaller than even my small desktop monitor's screen. And the notebook Ricki bought about a year and a half ago is even worse; it has been in its case many months now.

Wireless mouse is nice--but I do not always remember to turn mine off when I will not be using the computer for a while (my desktop mouse a wired optical model).

The optical mouse is nice, too--but two years ago I learned, while we were in a swellagant hotel in Banff, that it does not work well if it is on a good reflective surface such as a glass-topped desk. It becomes quite confused (absorbed in admiring its reflection?Big Smile)

Good Friday morning everyone.  It looks like things were really hopping in here last night.  Mookie, I'm glad to hear that you were pleased we named one of the kittens after you.  Mudchicken, if I can find a kitty shrink, maybe he can help your little namesake not be so skittish!  Laugh

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast, including a variety of doughnuts, is ready and on the serving station.
