Morning all......

Well, after three years and 425,000 miles, my old company truck suffered a fatal injury last Friday, blew a hole in the radiator.  Managed to get it to our yard in Black River Falls Saturday to swap out, but instead of a new truck, I got a "temporary" old one, another 2006 model with 750,000 on the odometer.  We shall see how long this one lasts.....

Will take a leisurely breakfast this morning, I don't have to leave until about 11am CDT to get to my appointment in Virginia, but the hills should be fun today, the engine brake in this truck is not as effective as was in the last truck.  Such is life....

Oh Randy - old is good sometimes, but you seem to be getting old and not so good!  I can't believe you got a truck with almost double the miles!

HHH - what can I say.  Maybe blah!  Mosquitos are lovin' it!

Yep, Mookie, plenty of HHH around here also.  So, that makes late lunch/early to late supper easy to plan for tonight:

1.  SALADS:  fruit, garden (tossed), Caesar

2.  ICE COLD cantaloupe, watermelon and other melons

3.  ICE CREAM:  vanilla, chocolate, peach, apricot, strawberry (all homemade), ice cream sandwiches, homemade sundaes, banana splits,  and root beer floats

4.  BLT sandwiches w/your choice of fries or tater chips

....Another warm one today....Sat down at this computer about a half hour ago, and temp then was 89.  High I saw today was 96 plus.

No rain.

CW, I will have a BLT with fries. And a sundae for dessert.

59° now with a high of 61° today, Was raining off and on today, but yesterday it rained most of the day. Yesterday would have been like a normal "rain day" around here, if it hadn't been for the long winter and wet spring. It was just too much. Looking like it will stay above 70° for the next seven days, but not all of them dry.

The only RR news around here are the Canadian railway's second quarter results. I suspect other threads will deal with those.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Getting a late start this morning.  Our morning temp is about 78 degrees, with party cloudy skies, very muggy outside.  Believe our high yesterday was 98 degrees, with the heat index 100 to 105; supposed to be the same today.  And, of course, heat advisories have been issued.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Usual breakfast menu is on the serving station.

Not a whole lot going on around here; except last night, around 11.00, some kids were setting off some kind of fireworks across the street from us, in the alley.  A car trying to go south in said alley, had to stop and wait for the kids to move out of their way, so they could continue on their way.

Everyone have a good day, keep as cool as possible, drink plenty of liquids, especially water, take care and see you all later.

....Unless something derails our weather day, this will be a real hot one.  81 to start when first looking before 8 this morning.  87 degrees when I headed to bed last night @ 12:45.  Of course, muggy.

Wanting to head east next week, we're hearing that area will be hotter than normal too....Not looking forward to that.  Have an Antique Tractor Festival to attend among other things to do, and don't want 90's to wonder around in..... Elevation at that location is roughly 2,000 ft too...

Anyone {in that area}, interested in this kind of festival, they really get a massive collection of antique tractors of all kinds...Steam included.  {Working steam too}.  Lots of food avail. and it runs from Aug. 4th thru 7th.   Location:  Stoystown Lions / Legion grounds...Stoystown, Pa.

Looks like we've had kind of a slow morning in here.  Quentin, hope your plans for travel next week hold for you, and that it won't be too unbearable for you & Jean.  Do you ever watch some of the tractor shows in RFD-TV?  I've seen a couple of them.  Always very interesting, especially if you grew up in the country, and on a farm, like I did.

Since it is still so very much Triple H's (current temp is in the low to mid 90s), here's our menu for the rest of the day:

1.  Sloppy Joes w/garden (tossed) salad, or cole slaw, and your choice of fries or tater chips.

2.  The following salads:  garden (tossed), Caesar, turkey, ham, chicken.

Desserts:  cake (chocolate or yellow; brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and plenty of choices of ice cream.

Everyone have a good, safe afternoon, keep cool, hydrated, and take care.  See you all later.

Have an Antique Tractor Festival to attend among other things to do

My late uncle was a big fan of steam tractors, and after his passing I inherited his small library on the subject. The books were published by local western Canadian outfits so it would be unlikely you would have heard of the books. The coolest thing for me though, was the fact that for about 20 years the large toolbox he carried in his pickup was a toolbox from a J.I.Case steam tractor. It had CASE painted on the lid, spaced so that it covered the whole lid. Young people didn't know what it was, they thought it was some kind of joke; like painting BOX on a box, or SHOVEL on a shovel. It was amazing it never got vandalized. I was at work in Calgary when my parents were down cleaning out his place, and did not realize or forgot its' significance, but it ended up being sold as part of the estate sale.Sad

It is a nice day here;  66°, our forecasted high revised downward from yesterday, with no wind. Still looking for 70°+ days ahead.

...Paula........For anyone  interested in such antiques, the location I listed would wet their interest...We were there several years ago...{it's an annual presentation}.  And it is our former small hometown.  Home.

Have not seen the TV program you mention.

Greetings and peace be with you. 88 and clear with a chance of storms later in Carolina. More to contemplate on: I tried to go get the mail and the motorcar won't start. A frend had been using it thru yesterday cuz her car wouldnt start and now that her car is working, ours won't start. Reckon it's catching?

It's HOT for the next few says, with the actual temps over 100! The state is under a red flag burn warning, although outdoor burning is permitted. Two big fires near here have been burning for over a month each and we need about 2 inches of rain, over a day or two badly.

Good evening from the new 7th congressional district in SC. Have a great evening.

I accepted Quentin's offer the see his pictures of the steam tractors.

For the benefit of anyone else interested, here is a link to the largest Antique Steam Tractor park in Western Canada:

Ironically it is located at Irricana, AB but was set up many years after we left.

Good Friday morning everyone.  A rather hot 88 degrees here in Louisville this morning, no light breeze blowing, so it is yucky, yucky, yucky outside.  Our high yesterday ended up being 98 degrees, but the heat index was down a little bit:  only felt like 100 to 105 outside.  Today's projected high is 94, with about same heat index.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And breakfast is on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, keep as cool as possible and take care.

Looks like a slow morning in here.  Instead of our usual Friday Fish Fry, I've filled the serving station with ice, and set out cold cuts, salads, fruits, peppers, cole slaw.

Everyone have a good afternoon/evening, keep cool, take care and see you all tomorrow.

Enjoyed sleeping in this AM.

Now it's rain (and welcome rain at that).

Just kind of a lazy day.

Up to 3/4" of rain so far from this event - and it looks like it could cause some minor problems - another FD in the county just got called out for a pump detail.

The radar seems to indicate that it will end fairly soon, though.

Update - the FD I mentioned a moment ago now has four sites with flooded basements, and our sister department in the district just went out on a pump detail.

It's FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Cool

We are due to get some much needed rain from T.S. Don here in Texas.  Unfortunately

Don has taken a jog to the south, so the rain amount will not be all that much,

But we are very thankful for what we can get in this drought.  Cowboy

Good Saturday morning everyone.  80 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Our high today is supposed to be only 89 degrees.

Walt and I had a very good time last night:  we actually went to a Louisville Bats ballgame!  Both of us took pictures, guess we may get a couple each posted later on this afternoon.  And guess what:  the Bats won 8 to 3 against the Rochester Red Wings.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Cannonball, there is always Gatorade here.  Definitely keep it in stock, especially for mudchicken!

Brunch is on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, keep cool and take care.

Well, the FD I mentioned before ended up with some 32 flooded basements at last word.  Our neighbor had a half dozen.  While I was at the fire station on some other business, I got a call from someone who said his mother's basement was flooded.  I told him to call dispatch direct so they could dispatch us and get all the usual paperwork lined up.  Must be his mum didn't live in our district, as we were never alerted.

Reports indicate that the heavily flooded areas got upwards of 2-3" of rain over a two hour period.  Despite our ground being very dry, that's still more than it can soak up and/or drainage systems can easily handle.

Looks like a sunny and warm day today.  So I'll have my bearclaw and get going on some outside projects.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well T.S. Don was a bust here.  He broke up; as soon as he hit landfall at Brownsville.  On the plus side, we did get some light rain showers...so I guess we should be very grateful for that.

Enjoy your Saturday!!!!

CW, I couldn't have said it better myself!Dinner

A nice day here, sunny and 77°.

Do you folks down there have a long weekend this weekend? I saw a funny story on the news last night where it said that in the 10 Provinces there were 7 different names for our holiday. In Alberta we call it Heritage Day.

It is going to be 82° tomorrow and 73° on Monday, with sunny skies both days. It will definitely be the nicest long weekend of 2011.

Thanks for the pizza and I hope everyone has a great weekend, no matter how long it is.
