Sarah's birthday?  Hope it was happy!

Took in the last couple of days of the NYS Association of Fire Chief's expo Friday and Saturday.  Several good educational sessions, and a round-table discussion that included such legends of the fire service as John Salka and Al Brunacini.  It was beyond excellent.

I'm not sure if I outspent my budget - I'll get reimbursed for one or two of the purchase.

Looking like a quiet father's day - which is fine as I could use a day to recover.

Murray - enjoy your balmy weather.  We were up to about 80 today, but right now the humidity is at 75%, so a bit muggy.

Time for bed.

Wink Paula ; you are a victim of your own good cooking.  There seems to be a lot of the bad  stuff going around . I take red rice yeast and it knocks my bad letters down.  Our puter suffered a static shockThurs. morning and fried the port for the mouse.  All fixed for now. Looking for a static wrist band ground until a permenet ground is in place.  Just 11v. cooked the port. Happy birthday to Ms.Sarah .

Mookie, we haven't received any more rain since about 7:15 this morning, when Sarah got in from work. It has looked like rain several times, but so far, nothing.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.   Anchovie

2.   Canadian bacon

3.   Cheese

4.   Chicago style

5.   Goetta

6.   Ham & green pepper

7.   Hawaiian

8.   Italian sausage

9.   Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

For Dessert tonight:  strawberry cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake, peach, apple and blueberry cobblers.

Hope everyone has had a very good day.  All of you take care, keep safe and see you later this evening, or else in the morning.

CW - that was the same storm we had between 2-4 am this morning.  It just poured like mad!  We generally get "showers" and not a lot of heavy rain, but our city lake is really high this morning from the run off.

College World Series is in Omaha for a few days.   If the fans get bored waiting for their teams to play, looks like they could boat in one of the parking lots.  Ah mosquito paradise!

BNSF still running coal back and forth east/west and south and back.  Not sure how they are getting across the rivers, but seem to be doing ok.  Little slow down, but still do get to see some trains.  Only slight withdrawals.

....Back to A/C today....Warm, humid and overcast.  Small amount of rain overnight.  Didn't look close at the rain gauge, but from a distance it appeared to be about a quarter of an inch.

Believe most of the more serious weather systems will be south of us today.

Good Saturday morning.  Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning.  Just now getting on the puter, as we have been having thunderstorms and lightning for the last couple of hours.  Official report is "light" rain and thunder:  I find it amazing that the "light" rain is pouring down outside my windows and the street in front of our house!

Everyone enjoy your day, Joe, hope you all have a great day visiting Mr. Howarth, and there'll be plenty of pizza for tonight.  Take care, and see you all later.

Its a bone chilling 103 degrees here in Alamo City. Cool

Still no sign of rain.  By the end of next week we should be in Stage 3 water restrictions unless we get some precipitation.

Currently sitting at a 10.88 inch rainfall deficit.

Enjoy your Friday!

Dag, Mookie, I somehow missed that it happened in Nebraska!  Embarrassed

Been doing laundry this afternoon, but our Friday Fish Fry is ready and on the serving station.  All kinds of fish and all our regular side dishes and desserts.  Everyone have a good evening, and see you all later.

CW - didcha notice it took place in Nebraska?  Good tourism!  Dull states have figure 8 races and jumps over trucks/busses.  We have definitely upped the ante!

Tom, I will give you a hand if it will help?  Clap, clap, clap....

Better?

Good Friday morning everyone.  Mudchicken and Mookie:  my first thought on watching that video was:  Gee, I never made creamed corn that way; always went to the garden, gathered the corn, shucked it, washed it, and then cut the kernals off the cob, put it in a skillet with a stick or butter or margarine, and cooked it.

Tom, hope your hand problems will cease and desist after your hand surgery.  Will be praying for you to have a quick, full recovery.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  a small selection of doughnuts, danish, muffins, bear claws, bagels, along with turkey bacon, turkey sausage & pork sausage, eggs and toast.

Sorry about getting in here so late, but have been busy in the kitchen, not only fixing breakfast, etc., but washing up dishes from last night, and cleaning up everything.

Sun is shining and we have a temp in the low to mid 70s, going for a high of about 87, 88 degrees today.  Chance of spotty showers, possibly a slight chance off some severe storms coming in later tonight and through the weekend.

Everyone have a good morning, keep coming in, even if it just to say "Hi, all" (except for Tom:  we know you are silently with us, so you are excused from posting).  Take care,  and see you all later.

Half day and change on the railroad turned into almost two full days - and included some actual hands on train movement (not in the cab, alas).  Access there is problematic, so I don't even try.  Just wait until I get back home again.

NYS Fire Chief's show for the next couple of days, but I'll be home at night.  Have to be careful there - too many toys to consider buying....

Quentin, the main reason that I haven't been checking in often is my health . There are days when I just don't feel like talking, plus my right hand has a problem, which has wrought havoc with my typing. I liklely will have surgery soon on it and will disapear for a time. Hopefully, both these situations will be corrected soon. Nevertheless, I am quietly with yall daily.

Tom.....No question about that.....Health must come first.  I understand you have had quite a time of it and fully understand you not wanting to do so, now especially with the bum hand.  Hope one of these days your health problems will  be less of an issue for you.

I'll have a Sloppy Jane - don't want to get Joe all messed up....

Did some train watching today.  It is pretty limited and I am not sure how they are getting them across the border, but they head east and disappear somewhere.

Now they are talking like the Omaha airport might lose their main access road to water.  Pretty soon there will be one cat on an island.....

Mouw....

For some reason, we see diminished interest in our postings here....What's driving people away.

Is it the Summer like weather where folks like to be outside, not setting at a computer....Personally, I like to do both.

Anyway....Muncie has a beautiful Spring morning.  Sunshine, white puffy clouds, blue sky, and nice dry temps.  Setting out on our patio {back} and looking out over the "green" sure is pretty....God created.

One bad note for Muncie yesterday....A sizable church santuary burned almost to the ground...{in southeast part of town}, and the tragedy of it, was a loss of life of one fireman....The roof caved in on where he was.

A large gym type building {attached}, was saved....Wind must have been blowing away from that structure.  I have not read the Muncie StarPress article yet, but will be doing so in a few min.

On a lighter note...Windows open, and can hear train horns in the distance.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Slept in a little bit this morning.  When Trapper the Cat woke me up at almost 6 a.m., Sarah was already gone.  So guess she got called in early this morning.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, and an assortment of fresh fruits.

We currently have a temp of about 65, 66 degrees, and the sun is shining.  Supposed to have a high of 88 degrees today, so looks like we'll be heating back up around here.

Everyone have a good morning, and take care.  Mookie, if you're around, I'll be out in the garden in one of the rocking chairs.

Still, mild weather here, and the highs are expected to dip to about seventy as we approach the weekend. With the cold front moving in, we may get more rain (and, in the higher altutudes a little more snow). The flood watchers are glad to see the cool weather, as it delays a high snow melt rate; there already enough problems with rivers and creeks running full.

I have not kept book on my getting our swamp cooler running, but I do not remember ever being able to wait until after the middle of June before starting to cool the house. I am considering getting the outside part ready, but I do not want to uncover the vent inside yet, with nighttime temperatures in the fifties; I already put a robe on when I have to get up in the night.

As to pedestrian safety at TRAX crossings, particularly where the girl was killed last week, the Utah Transit Authority is taking sound walls down close to the intersections at several crossings (may the NIMBYs scream) and is considering installing pedestrian guards on the sides where there is no street traffic gate. I have neither seen nor heard anything about allowing horns to be blown before the crossings.

Gee, it has really been sloooow in here this morning!  We've gotten an inch of rain from the storms this morning.  Still more to come, with hail along with the thunder & lightning.

Here is the menu for the rest of the day:

Homemade beef stew, garden salad and baked cornbread.

Dessert:  Still have chocolate birthday cake left, along with peach cobbler and half of the blackberry cobbler left.

Everyone have a good afternoon, those who are receiving rain:  stay as dry as possible, and you all take care.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  63 degrees and partly cloudy skies, with distant rumbles of thunder.  From the looks of the weather map on the news this morning, we have at least 3 storms headed our way.  But the only one that should be even mildly severe won't get to us until later this afternoon (hopefully).

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, caramel cinnamon rolls, bagels, bear claws, and an assortment of fresh fruit:  cantaloupe, mangoes, kiwi, papaya, grapes, watermelon, toast.

Finally heard from my doctor on the results of my blood work last week:  everything is good, except for my cholesterol, which is down about 7 points/degrees whatever it is called:  was 217, now 210.  So I have a lot of work to do to get it down further.

Everyone enjoy your day, keep a smile on your face, take care and see you all later.
