CW - I can identify with your family - I HATE having my picture taken.
How did you take the picture....?
And is that maybe.....chocolate under that icing on those cupcakes? Hmmm????

Been on the railroad all weekend. No Internet unless I want to sit outside with the 'puter - and that's a suicide mission right now in the Adirondacks. All the rain means lots of standing water, and that means beaucoup mosquitos. I think I reduced the population by a few hundred just swatting at them, but their numbers didn't seem to diminish.
Tomatoes - sliced with sugar on them.
Also known as pom d'amore (love apple).
Busy weekend on the railroad. Did all the jobs, including first stint as student engineer. Got us back in one piece all three times today, and didn't make too many gaffes, so my teacher was pleased.
With any luck I'll be qualified by fall.
Time for bed.

Good Monday morning everyone.
Mookie, Walt took the picture for me. And the cupcakes were yellow w/candy that melts while the cupcakes are baking. Kaeden has allergies, guess maybe he's allergic to chocolate?!?! Although, the ice cream was neopolitan, but I didn't see him with any of the chocolate.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. That includes Gatorade for the mudchicken, and hot water for tea for Larry and Tom.
On the warmer/serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs and toast and jelly/jam/preserves (whichever you prefer). Or, you can skip all that, and have cold cereal: several different kinds are on the counter.
Still tired this morning, and throat is still a little bit scratchy, achy.
Mookie and others on facebook, you can see more pictures from Saturday on my photo section.
We're supposed to have some rain coming in. Not supposed to be anything severe, but we could have some pretty strong winds, heavy rain and lightning. Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.
Good morning everyone. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Glad to hear Larry got to run the railroad, or at least one train!
55° with smoke here today. I can kind of smell it. Thanks to Larry I now have links to many radar maps, yet I can't see where this smoke is blowing in from. I think it must be localized to a grass fire nearby upwind. I don't see any trails of smoke blowing in from the forested areas to the west of us.
We have a high forecast to be 75° today and a high of 82° tomorrow. That is just unheard of this year. I can't even begin to guess the last time we had a plus 80° day.
They say when it doesn't rain it pours. That is literally the case for the folks up at Slave lake, AB this weekend. That is the town that had to be totally evacuated due to a forest fire last month. Now they are being flooded. CN has once again had to close the Slave Lake Sub. There have been three large washouts and a number of smaller ones.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
There's plenty of roast, taters & carrots, cornbread, etc., along with the beef stew from yesterday's Sunday Dinner: The Crock Pots hadn't been touched, when I came back in last night to post the pictures.
We haven't gotten any rain yet, since early this morning. But its clouding up, so guess we could get something anytime. Everyone take care, have a good evening and see you all in the morning.
A nice Summer day here....Thought it really nice this morning with mod. temps and a nice breeze when we went out to stop for breakfast, and make a few other stops.
But.....Wanting to start trimming shrubs, and I didn't go out to start to do so, unil late afternoon, by then I found out it had warmed up. So, just one about 12' long got worked on.
I got plenty warm quick....Part of it is age.
So....If tomorrow is cool and dry, we'll try to do some more.
Late this morning while waiting for Jean to finish up some activity in a business, I was where I could see the north / south N S Newcastle line as it comes into north Muncie.
Heard a horn blowing so thought I'll get a look of the daily Triple Crown train, south bound....{Time, roughly 11 am}, and it was not that at all.....A N S maroon colored passenger car behind power heading south. My guess would be an inspection or management car {train}, of some nature.....

Good Tuesday morning everyone. It's a little muggy out this morning. Not sure what current temp is, as I haven't heard it yet this morning. Do know it is supposed to get up to 85 degrees again today.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Regular breakfast menu is ready and on the warmer/serving station.
Everyone take care (lurkers, that includes you also, since you don't say anything, not even "Hi"), and I'll see you all in a few hours, after Tuesday Produce.
Produce Truck came on time this morning (well, little bit early: 8:40 a.m.), and we were done serving all 64 people by 9:15, 9:20. On the truck today: potatoes, onions, iceburg lettuce, romaine lettuce, plums, spinach, and little containers of Yoplait strawberry/banana yogurt. Bread truck arrived just before 10, so everything worked well this morning.
Even though no one has been in since I was in early this morning, lunch is on the warmer/serving station:
Make your own tacos and burritos, with Spanish rice.
Dessert today: strawberry shortcake w/plenty of whipped cream to go on top.
Good morning.
It is 59° and dare I say it, a little humid. Out at the airport it is officially 67% R.H., but it is very noticeable down here in the Bow River valley. It is supposed to go up to 82° and I bet you there are going to be thunder showers. Forecasted or not.
I see CN has their Slave Lake Sub. in northern Alberta open again, but now they have had a washout related derailment in northern British Columbia on the former BCRail property.
And over in Manitoba the residents are waiting to be inundated with the flood waters now affecting Minot, ND.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Nice cool morning here . Just came in fromcutting a fire break for a cup of coffee . Too dry and ripe for a cigarett fire. Some "nice" folk don't want to use the ashtray in the car ~~ gets it dirty~ , so it is tossed out the window. A large number of grass fires on the interstate are cigarette fires. Now back to the weed cutting on the fence row.

busy at work.cw will take some shortcake.need to run an errand in town.hope people enjoyed the tour of the north baltimore yard.Mookie your DE train is still in our siding at work.Ns has been switching alot of cars in our other building so buisness is good.

Joe - I think they quit running any trains thru here, finally. So either hang on to it until August or send it in a southerly direction. Way southerly!
Nite...
Good Evening.
I am just waiting for the 11:00 news to come on. It is 66° and still humid. It never made up to it's forecasted high today. It only made it to 77° because as soon as it started warming all the humidity created a cloud cover and that ended that.
I see Mookie's area is having flood issues too. I must admit I hadn't heard of it what with the issues at Minot, ND being much closer.
Even though I've never been there, it somehow seems like a place I should know. Back in the '60's when I would visit my grandparents in Regina, SK I would listen to the Top 40 station there and they always gave the temperature for Minot whenever they would give the local temperatures. That was because Saskatchewan only had two places with a population of over 50,000 and in those days weather stations were an expensive affair. Back then North Dakota was seriously into the Peace Garden business (USAC) and Minot was the main base. It had weather observation facilities nobody in Saskatchewan could afford. Since there were no meaningful geographic features between Minot and Regina and on up to Saskatoon anyone southeast of Regina could easily figure out their local temperature by noting the difference between the two. And we are talking about a distance of several hundred miles.
That's all for now, I will see you tomorrow.
Good Wednesday morning everyone. Temps this morning are in the upper 60s, high today about 87 degrees. Humidity is increasing, too.
Did anyone catch that new show, Combat Hospital, last night? I was able to stay awake for the first half hour, then gave up and went on to bed, as my eyes were not wanting to stay open. What I saw, seemed to be pretty good and interesting, to boot. Maybe next Tuesday, I'll have to take a later than usual nap, so I can stay awake. Believe by Monday, our temps are to be well into the 90s, which will mean the heat index will be in the 100s, more than likely. Oh well, it is summertime summertime summertime.
Coffee, juices, Gatorade, milk, sodas are all ready to go and on the warmer/serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, bacon ,sausage, eggs and toast.
Mookie, how about we take a coffee carafe & our cups out on the patio with us? Such a nice morning outside!

We had a south wind yesterday, which brought more warm air in; we expect a cold front to come in tonight or thereabouts.
Monday, I discovered my fix on the swamp cooler valve float did not work, so I bought a new valve, hoping I could put its float on the old valve--but the rods holding the floats were not the same diameter. So, yesterday morning, before the sun came around to shine on my work, I replaced the entire assembly. Now, I should not to worry about such again for several years.

wow.thanks for sharing.Time for chores and to get ready for work.
Well, it looks like they finally opened the doors here: when I tried to get in about 7 a.m., the doors were all locked for maintenance.
It is going to be a very warm day here in the Ohio Valley: 89 or possibly in the low 90s today. Started out this morning at 66 degrees.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, if anyone comes in this morning, that is.
Everyone have a good day, and see you all later.
getting warmer outside.matt and I went into town and ran some errands this morning.Cw thanks for supper.have some chores to do.tonight is Friday for us.Mookie your DE train is on the move.Ns had a mixed frieght when I came into work then they replaced that with MBKX coal cars. We'll keep you posted.
Joe - we aren't seeing any westbounds. Sent several EB your direction, but they were ones that I had never seen before. Only one that we knew was headed to Georgia.
Will look a little longer this weekend - 100 in the shade and just too hot to be out there. Even Millie was panting.
Pass the iced tea....
Ms Mook - you can send a little of that this way - I think we got to the mid 70's today after the mid-60's yesterday.
There was rain in the forecast, but I'm not seeing it on the surface map. I just planted my annuals (finally) and they could use the rain, but I'm working on the railroad this weekend and would prefer to stay dry.
I will be in the cab for a couple of those days (at the throttle!), though, so I won't get as wet as the rest of the crew if it does rain...
Time to finish packing.
.....Oh we have had several very nice early Summer days, and without the humidity, and excessive heat....But....today, it really started to push the heat back in. Low 90's this afternoon, and more to come.
Chance of thundershowers almost each day next week and pretty warm.
Possibly a stray shower over night...We actually could use it.
Right now, have the windows open and the ceiling fan rotating above me here and it's pretty nice at 9:30 pm.
Plan to attend an antique tractor festival over in home land Pennsylvania first week in August. It has blossomed into a pretty good annual affair. Over 300 tractors of all kinds....even steam traction engines, etc....And we get to see people we rarely see. So it can be interesting, etc....Music and food and all the usual stuff at these events.
It's on the Lions grounds {Legon too}, and a rebuilt B&O depot that was originally along the B&O branch less than a mile away.
Good Friday morning everyone. 72 degrees with fair skies, going for a high of about 92 degrees today.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Friday doughnuts, danish, muffins, bagels and bear claws are on the serving station, along with some bacon, sausage, eggs, and toast.
Going to be a busy day for me: will be picked up by my ride around 8 a.m., to go to one of my doctors. Cardiovascular Dr. this time. Haven't seen him for two years. (Forgot my appointment last year.) Bad Paula, bad Paula. Then, it'll be time to pay all the different Bills. yuck.
Everyone have a very good morning, and I'll see you sometime this afternoon.
well work is done.going to have the triple h's.cw thanks for breakfast.matt and i are going to see what is running before it gets too warm.
