....We have a beautiful evening here. 84.2 degrees right now, with clear skies and overall, very pleasant. Feels just like a very nice Summer evening.
Jean has all the flowers in place now, and everything is so nice and green....The niceness of Spring. Setting back on our patio and my chair was very close to the Humming Bird's feeder which is mounted on the patio door glass....and one of them visited the feeder about a half dozen times as I sat there so close.

Snow?
Ma Nature is flirtin with dementia agin....Then again it's water (needed here badly)
Afternoon all.
It's going to be another schorcher today. Looks like we just hit the 80* mark. Thanks for lunch CW! The humidity here is super bad!!!
Have a good day all!

We have light overcast this morning, and when I first looked at the instrument earlier it already was indicating: 74 degrees....and the humidity is still with us. Good for growing things, but just a bit warm for us humans.
.....Edit: What happened to the Bio some of us had included with our Public Profile....?

cw thanks for lunch for today.I went into town and mowed quick before mother nature wanted to rain.It was just a brief downpour and now it's done.Mom is mad at a flea bitten varmit that decided to have her flowers for a snack last night. They can't get to her hanging basket.mookie found mailman and sent package.heard dispatcher talk to q 509 to make sure his train was okay.lots to do here.
Good Thursday morning everyone. 74 degrees with fair skies here in Louisville this morning. Yes, Quentin, the humidity is quite high here, also. There's only about a 20% chance of rain today and tomorrow. Over the weekend, about a 30% chance of precipitation.
Larry, sounds like you all had some excitement yesterday. Last night, here at Louisville International Airport, we had a Vision Airlines plane make an emergency landing. As far as I've heard this morning, only 1 person reported with any injuries, and he/she refused transport to the hospital. Cannot recall if it was a mechanical or electrical malfunction.
Want to wish our good friend Cannonball Jim a Very Happy Birthday today. Jim, hope you have a great day, and wishing you many happy returns for the day. In your honor, I'll make a couple, three peach pies for dessert tonight.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. And here is our menu for today, as requested by Jim:
diced ham & onion omelette, toast and coffee.
Lunch menu: pulled pork & gravy w/mashed taters and cornbread and milk. Peach pie w/vanilla ice cream
Supper: Smoked channel catfish, 3 bean salad w/chips and sassafrass tea. And Alka Seltzer for anyone who needs it afterwards.
Everyone have a very good morning, keep cool, take care and see you all later.
A little excitement here today - a small twin-engine airplane crashed and burned on a private airstrip. The pilot escaped with a minor injury. It was in the next fire department's territory (but right on the line between them and us). We were called for water and manpower, though.
It's something we don't see very often, but most of us felt it was just a matter of time before it did.

......Just what we've been thinking it would be doing here weather wise....From below Spring normal temps....to {yesterday}, and today a high of 91 with very high humidity. Can't seem to take it even as well as last year.
Did get another mowing in this afternoon, and when finished with that, I was ready to cool down for a while.
Had a picnic meal this evening over at family / friends place, which we do several times each season. They are up here from Florida for the "hot' season down there.
Hi everyone. I thought I would drop by for supper today. It looks like it is only going to make it 70° today, but that is really nice.
I just looked at the Newswire and saw a story saying CN is going to spend $37 million on Capital Works in Alberta this summer. About a month ago I was going to comment either here or in the Lounge that something like this was going to become necessary. Because of Oilsands development in northern Alberta, and despite the recent recession, both Calgary and Edmonton's population has been growing steadily. Calgary now has 1.1 million people, and the Edmonton region has about 1 million. The day is coming when you can no longer serve cities of that size with single track mainlines. Nobody is talking full double track lines yet, but we are getting some pretty long sidings now. The game is changing out here in the "wild" west.
CW, thanks for supper, and everyone have a good evening.

Justin, therapy went pretty good. It was the walking to the bus stop after I left, that really did me in today. Between the heat and humidity, I was really hurting by the time I got home, about 1:30 EDT. Had to go lie down and take a nap. Been up a few minutes. I only have 3 days left for therapy: Friday for this week, and Wednesday and Friday next week. But I will still have to continue doing the therapy here at home.
Got some more pork chop abracadadbra ready for supper tonight, along with the side dishes. Think for tonight, we'll have ice cream sundaes for dessert.
Right now, our temp is 85 or 86 degrees. Maybe we'll only make it to 89 degrees for the high today.
Everyone enjoy your afternoon, take care, and see you all later.
Hey CW! Lunch is really great!
It's a real scorcher in Indiana today... 86* right now. That isn't counting the humidity...
Have a good rest-of-the-day everybody!
Good luck at therapy CW!
Good morning everyone.
Despite my pessimism yesterday we did reach our high of 64°. But today we are forecast to get a high of 72°. It seems like a lifetime ago since we had a high over 70°. Which is also tomorrow's forecast high.
No flooding news here, but it continues to be bad east of us in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. I saw on another forum that virtually every train in western Canada, regardless of consist, has a string of ballast loads being positioned somewhere. It is not just the washout effect that will cause trouble, standing water is going to create soft spots that will linger for weeks or even months. It should prove to be an interesting summer to run a railway.
I'm going to organize my errands so I can get out for a walk today in this nice weather. Everyone have a good day.
Another warm..{hot}, and humid day unfolding for us. Sunshine with light haze in sky...That tells us the humidity is pretty high.
Waiting for the grass to dry, so I can get in another mowing before some "weather" boils up this afternoon.
Believe after today, we get a bit of a cool down for several days.
Good morning and peace be with you. SC, in general, got clobbered overnight. A line of very heavy storms came across with the Columbia area getting particulary hard hit. According to the boffins, we can expect more of the same through the weekend. Right now, it is 65 and overcast with a sharp breeze..
Here, we had two lines go through, and were under a tornado watch for several hours. Most of the heavy stuff passed to the east and got Horry County. About 3 AM, the second line came in, shook the house, and roused up yours truly from his most important slumber. One of the girls (dog) was with me, and she snored away through the whole shebang

Good Wednesday morning everyone. We have a current temp in the upper 60s to 71 degrees. Supposed to be a hot day, with a high of 90 degrees. Then, rain comes back into the picture for tomorrow, Friday & Saturday, and that will bring back cooler temps.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Hot water for our tea drinkers, and regular breakfast menu is on the warmer/serving station.
Have to be at therapy at 11:00 this morning, so guess I'll leave here about 9:30, 9:45 or so, since I have to take two buses to get there today. Just in case I'm not back in time, there are a couple of Crock Pots on with some pork chop abracadabra in them. To go along with the chops, there will be some potatoes, and some baby vegetables medley (cauliflower, sugar snap peas, baby carrots, broccoli).
Hope you all have a great morning, take care, and I'll see you all later.
Had a good day at school. 11 days until school is out! I can’t wait! Supper sounds good!!! Have a golf match tomorrow. We will see how that goes. ...
....Still warm and humid, perhaps more so since a weather system passed just to the north of us this afternoon ....and just by a few miles.
Even tornado warnings were in place. {including the sirens soundings}...Now, it's a real nice evening, and just a few minutes ago I noted, our instrument was showing 81 degrees.
We did get about 10 minutes of nickel sized hail. No problem from that. But it does make one think, as sometimes it signals of tornado activity not too far distant.
Well, it is straight up noon here, so a sandwich sounds great for lunch.
It is 55° and sunny, but I'm not sure it is going to make it to the forecasted high of 64°. I'm sitting near an open window and the wind is still surprisingly cool. It is obviously still blowing across snow covered ground before it gets here.
The landlord was in today with an engineer to check on the condition of the post tensioning rods in the concrete ceiling above me. The engineer said they were in good shape with no signs of rust. I'm so reassured. I guess that means the building won't collapse on my head.
Thanks for lunch CW.
Produce went well this morning. Got potatoes, spinach, broccoli florets and lemons. Bread/Pastry truck will not be back this year; don't know why, they just said they were discontinuing it for at least the rest of the year. Maybe their funding expired.
Since no one has been in since early this morning, I've just put a variety of cold cuts, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, out on the serving station (filled with ice today) for at least lunch time. If anyone comes in, other than lurkers who don't post, I'll be back later with something different for supper.
Have a good afternoon, and see you all later.
mother nature gave us a shower just after work this morning.time to get matt on the bus.Today he has his spring program.G+G said they would come and watch.cw thanks for breakfast.Time for bed.
Good Tuesday morning everyone. Looks like we had a very slow day in here yesterday. But Justin, it was good to see you back!! Hope you'll be able to come in a little more often. Miss seeing you around here.
We have 67 degrees this morning. Believe we're to be back up in the mid to upper 80s today. Haven't really heard much on the temp outlook for today this morning.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Breakfast is ready and on the warmer/serving station.
Back to doing Tuesday Produce this morning. Then, after that is over with, need to take a trip to the grocery store, and get something for supper tonight. Any suggestions from anyone, please?
You all enjoy your morning, take care and I'll see you all sometime later this afternoon.
Good afternoon! It’s good to get back in here! School is almost out for summer!!! Only 12 days left starting tomorrow. That means lots more Railfanning! You may not know this, but I have taken up golf. I’m not very good, but I do enjoy it. Here is my latest photo album: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/archiveThumbs.aspx?id=67344

Enjoy the photo's! Comments are welcomed!
Good afternoon.
We are up to 52° now although it is still mostly overcast. Up to about an hour ago the road out front of my place was still half wet from the rain overnight. Starting tomorrow we are looking at temperatures in the 60's for the next seven days. The high 60's in fact. That might be a real jolt to our systems.
I haven't heard any RR related news about it, but yesterday the Crowsnest area of the province received an extremely heavy rainstorm which was forcing vehicles off of the highway that runs parallel to the track. Maybe there will something about it on the news tonight.
Everybody enjoy the rest of your day.
yard mowed.working on projects for saturday. It's bbq time in Deshler on saturday.hopefully mother nature is nice like today.Cw thanks for supper.
Talk about close calls, Johnny!
We are up to 76 degrees at 1:15 p.m. Still partly cloudy, but we do have nice sunshine peaking out from those clouds. Breeze is comfortable, also.
The menu for the rest of the day:
1. Fried chicken w/mashed taters, milk gravy, your choice of mixed baby vegetables, corn & peas mix, tossed garden salad and there's some potato salad left from yesterday
2. Grilled pork chops w/corn on the cob, garden salad and broccoli w/cheese sauce and dinner rolls.
Everyone enjoy your afternoon, and see you all later.
It's wet out here today and tomorrow, which does not bode well for possible flooding, even though the morning temperature was about forty degrees.
I just received this from my dentist niece (Captain, USN, ret.):

These people certainly know the clearances, as it seems that none of their wares were touched by the train.
