....We have a beautiful evening here.  84.2 degrees right now, with clear skies and overall, very pleasant.  Feels just like a very nice Summer evening.

Jean has all the flowers in place now, and everything is so nice and green....The niceness of Spring.  Setting back on our patio and my chair was very close to the Humming Bird's feeder which is mounted on the patio door glass....and one of them visited the feeder about a half dozen times as I sat there so close.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Current temp in the upper 60s, going for a high today in the low 80s, probably about 81 degrees.  Rain coming in for tonight, may even seen a thunderstorm.  Cooler tomorrow, with a high around 71, and 10 degrees cooler for Sunday, with a high of 61.  Back to springlike temps.

Coffee, juices, milk, tea (iced and hot), cider, etc. are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:

Doughnuts:  including regular cake doughnuts, chocolate covered dougnuts, chocolate covered cream filled doughnuts, chocolate covered long johns w/either cream or vanilla filling; apple, cherry, raspberry, peach, strawberry danish, and a few bear claws thrown in for good measure.

If you don't want doughnuts or danish, there's also bacon, scrambled eggs and toast.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all after awhile.

Good morning.  66 and overcast in Carolina. According to the boffins, we shall have thunderstorms later today and for the next week at least. Don't ye just love this time of year? Every time I get the wireless connected up, along comes a storm and I have to disconnect the antennas and motor cables for the rotors again. Sometimes, it hardly sees worth the effort

Cannonball, I seem to have missed your birthday. Please excuse me for this oversight. If anyone else got missed, please accept my apologies too.

CW, thanks for breakfast. Everyone have a great day.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Cloudy with a temp in the low 60s this morning.  Never did hear any rain overnight, much less any storms.  We may see some later this morning/afternoon.  More of the "hit and miss" pattern.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Regular Saturday Brunch is ready and on the serving station:  bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fried taters, grits, toast, bagels, bear claws, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, papaya and pineapple chunks

Everyone enjoy your day, take care and see you all this evening for our pizza fest.

Saturday....and rain is possible today.

So, hurriedly fired up the John deere, and got my fast growing lawn mowed.   Wanted to get that accomplished before the fellows arrived to trim  from the ground up, about 6 or 7 ft. on our two evergreens at the back of our lot.  After clean up and grass is developed under them, I'll be able to mow much easier around them, and it will make our vision much better looking west down the fairway.

And...it doesn't look like rain in the next hour or so....So, so far, so good.  {Wow, a bunch of "so's"}.

Good afternoon everyone.

Seems like I've been busy the last couple of days. I did want to tell you though, we had a high of about 74° on Thursday, and they said that was the hottest day since October 10 of last year. Not a record setting time span but plenty long enough for me

It is 59° and sunny now. No highs above 70° predicted for the following seven days though.

Had some excitement around here last night. About 25 minutes after I had ordered a pizza delivered there was suddenly screeching tires, engines revving, and someone yelling and hollering in heavily accented English right out in front of my apartment building. Just as the yelling was going on, I thought wouldn't that be funny if that was the pizza delivery guy. About 30 seconds after everything got quiet the buzzer from the front door went off and there was a bright, cheerful, Wal-Mart greeter type voice saying "Pizza". I just about fell down and started rolling on the floor with laughter. The delivery guy was a South Asian fellow, and as we concluded the transaction he said in the same accented voice, "This is a very difficult area to drive in". I closed the door and waited until I could hear the elevator door close, and then I started laughing all over again. That whole scene seemed like something from an old episode of SCTV.

I've got a thread going right now about the aftermath of a truck/train collision east of Calgary. If you take a look at it you will get a good idea of what the country looked like around our first station about 80 or 90 miles farther east. My mother grew up about 40 or so miles from the accident site. When I talk of the Canadian prairie, that is about as good an example as you will see. It stretches from just east of Calgary, across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and into Manitoba as far as Portage la Prairie. Back in the days of high speed passenger trains, and before speed limits were strictly enforced and diesel prices skyrocketed, that used to be some kind of railway race track.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Bruce

Our Saturday Night Pizza Fest is now on the serving station:

1.  Anchovie

2.  Canadian bacon

3.  Cheese

4.  Chicago style

5.  Goetta

6.  Ham & green pepper

7.  Hawaiian

8.  Italian sausage

9.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

And. . . . for dessert:  Strawberry cheesecakes

We did have a 'mild' thunderstorm earlier, around 3:00 or so.  Took a nap, so I don't know how long it lasted.  It looks like another one may be rolling in the next little bit:  Walt and I were just out on the front porch, and it looks really dark just to the southwest of us.

Everyone have a good evening, enjoy your pizzas and cheesecake, take care, and see you all in the morning.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Very cool 55 degrees this morning.  High today is only to be about 59, 60 degrees.  Still have chances of off and on showers, but will be mostly cloudy today.

Glad I sneaked back in last night, and cleaned everything off from the serving station.  One less thing to do first thing this morning.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage, strawberry & blueberry muffins, eggs, biscuits & gravy, toast for anyone not wanting biscuits.

Everyone have a good morning, be careful going to work, Church or railfanning.  Take care and see you all later.

Well, our "on again, off again" rain chances for today, has basically turned out to be a steady rain for most of the day.

Don't know if it'll do any good, since no one has even been in this afternoon, but here is our Sunday Dinner menu:

Got a couple of Crock Pots filled with steak, mushrooms and onion, along with a Crock Pot  filled with mashed taters.  All three Pots are on the counter, so help yourselves.

Walt and I watched the Reds game this afternoon, and in the 9th inning, I was about to start chewing on a nail.  But the Reds came through and managed to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals!  Whew, what a game.

Good evening everyone.

Well it seems like a good time to stop by for supper.

59° and cloudy now. No rain in the forecast until Wednesday, and they are calling for high's of 70° for next Friday and Saturday.

I would imagine most folks in the US would be following the news of the flooding along the Mississippi River, but we have some major flooding news in Manitoba. The Government there has purposely dug into a dike at Portage la Prairie to reduce the risk of a catastrophic breach later. P la P is a historic location in the history of the predecessors of CN. It seems like they picked one spot where this controlled flood will not put the CN transcontinental line out of commission, but a controlled flood still seems like pretty shaky business, so I have been closely watching the news. CP's line in the area doesn't seem to be at as much risk, but again we shall see.

CW, thanks again for supper, and we shall talk again soon.

Bruce

What a difference a few days make....Low 90's earlier this past week and right now it's 49, with light rain off and on today.  1.15" of rain overnight.  And....chance of rain almost everyday this coming week.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Quentin, yours and Joe's forecast is the same as ours.  Very chilly with rain chances until Wednesday.  Right now, our current temp is 50 degrees, and you know it'll drop a couple more degrees, since daybreak is beginning.  Will be cloudy with the occasional shower/drizzle throughout the day. Another dreary day.  Sigh

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:

Bacon, eggs, sausage, hot oatmeal, toast, cantaloupe, pineapple chunks, kiwi and papaya.

Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all later on.

Yes, CW....we'll probably see some rain later today.  Our morning did start with clear skies, and nice sunshine.  Now it's light overcast, and still sunshine is breaking thru.

But it's a rather cool start.  Mid 40's earlier.  Believe we'll be on the cool side {compared to last week}, for most of this week.

But with what we've been receiving....the grass is so green {and growing so fast}, and finally the leaves are reaching maturity.  They seem to be perhaps....2 weeks behind schedule this season....They started about the normal time, but seemed to linger in growing...

But for our morning, it's nice for now, just a bit cool.

Afternoon everyone. It is 55° and party cloudy here today. No rain in the seven day forecast, but our next day of 70° weather has been pushed back one day to next Saturday.

The controlled flood I mentioned in my last post actually seems to be under control, and is working as planned. No RR related news coming out of that situation.

I'm off to the grocery store now.
