It is getting colder as the day goes on here. Now the temp has dropped to 9°F with a NE 16 mph wind giving us a windchill of -8°F. The low is now forecasted to be -2°F without windchill. And there will be windchill because NE 6 mph winds are expected.

I'm glad I brought home a big order of groceries on Saturday.

Already -3F here at 10pm, with a promise for -9F overnight.  High of +29F tomorrow - pretty standard fare for February, actually.

Lots of folks are getting cabin fever.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  Currently 30 degrees here in Louisville this morning, going for a high in the mid 50s.  By sometime tomorrow (Thursday) evening, rain is supposed to descend on us.  They are even saying we could have some floodingGuess the spring runoffs will be happening early this year?

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Regular breakfast menu is on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

We're not near as cold as I note some are this morning.  26 here earlier, and we're to be above freezing today.  It's overcast and dry.

I've heard reports of a cold Spring forecast.  Now, we can do without that....

.....I finally decided to go down to the street to our mail box {on  the opposite side of the street}, and retrieve the morning paper.  Carefully, walked down along side of the drive way...{in the grass}, and stopped at the street.  In our addition here, our street is absolutely a sheet of ice.  We're still a bit below freezing.

With one person in this household, with broken bones from ice in the last few weeks....I chose not to try to walk across that street.

We're meeting some friends for a 1 oclock lunch at our nearby {2 mi.}. Pizza king, and I'll retrieve it then....in the truck.  Hope I can get out on the street without sliding across the street into my neighbors yard.

I am surprised as to how it got like a sheet of clear ice...!

I'm reasonable sure the county & state roads are mostly bare.

I counted yesterday {and from previous overnight}, to have been a half inch of percip....But with the street like a skating rink....Not sure I understand how it got that bad.  Come on Spring.

I'd suggest you move north, since we've had beautiful weather (if cold) for the past few days.   But it looks like we're in for it today.  Maybe not bad, but there's pretty colors coming our way on the radar, and that's never a good thing.

Better get into town before it arrives...

Had over 40 firefighters from 13 different fire departments at our Social Hall for a seminar by a visiting, out-of-state fire instructor last night.  He was just looking to get out his motel room for a little while, we got an entertaining and informative talk.

I'll have my tea and bearclaw to go today.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Joe, thanks so very much for taking care of breakfast this morning!  As of late, I've been sleeping in on Thursday mornings, after staying up to watch Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35.

And Joe, I do try to get everything prepped for the morning each night.  Although, once in awhile, I forget to get it done.  Glad last night wasn't one of those nights!  What would I do without you around here?

Our current temp is about 48 degrees this morning, with light rain.  If the rain stays on the light side, maybe we won't have any of the predicted possibility of flooding later on tonight or in the morning.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all this afternoon.

....We have 38 degrees now and overcast.   I suppose most of us know another "system" is moving west to east, and we're going to be involved in part of it....

First I was seeing 5 to 7" of the stuff to pass here starting sometime in the PM today, now.....{at 11 last night}, I noted it must be shifting a bit to the north on it's path...The figure projected for here at that time {by tomorrow}, was 1.8" of the stuff........Much better.

Our ground finally is bare for the most part again.  Just can't seem to keep it uncovered for any length of time....But I'm sure we're heading the right direction.

Item:  Gas prices here now...$3.35.  Time to enhance the Arabs again.

Just got back from the grocery; had to pick up a  few things for us, like cereal, coffee, fruit punch and a couple of other things.  Plain ole cloudy and overcast.  The heavy stuff isn't supposed to be in until later tonight, probably around 8, 9 p.m.  thru about 2 a.m. tomorrow.

For the rest of the today, here is our menu:

1.  Potato soup or tomato soup w/grilled cheese, PB&J, tuna salad, roast or turkey sandwiches.

2.  Broiled steaks w/baked potato, sauteed mushrooms & onion and garden salad.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon, keep safe and take care, whatever you have to do/go this afternoon & tonight.

ok - so I wandered away from the home by myself and got lost.

The nice people found me and brought me back.  Clown

Radar looks like we should have had 8 feet of snow by now.  Just starting to flake a little.

It was 50 yesterday and 23 today.

It is just starting to snow, so need to head out wandering again.  Maybe this time I can get far enough away that I can find sun and warmth?

CW - order new marbles, please.  I think I will need them.

Hello Everyone.

I haven't been around the last couple of day's due to the Curling. I had planned to watch it on the TV connection on my computer, and catch up on other things at the same time. But it turns out I am no multi-tasker. There was a really good game on Tuesday night, and from that point forward I decided to devote my undivided attention to the games.

It has been a really cold few days here. Right now it is -9°F with a N 8 mph wind, giving us a windchill of -26°F. It is not too bad in the apartment right now, but between about 4 and 6 PM yesterday the wind was running just right, (wrong!) and you could almost feel it coming through the outside wall of the building. My apartment extends out over the car park area and right now you can feel the cold coming up through the floor as well.

I see where this cold and windchill is really affecting RR operations in this part of the world. At least the forecasters are anticipating warmer air to start moving in later tomorrow.

Everyone have a good day, and now I will get back to the game.

Quentin, the next NASCAR 500 race won't be on a regular channel here, so I won't be able to continue our discussion of the rule changes just yet.

Bruce, that sound like terrible Winter stuff you have there now....That wind with below "0" temps is a killer.  Reminds me of some years ago, we were in a hotel room down in Nashville, Tn., in the Winter and on the first floor, and our parking spaces were under the building.  Well, the first night we were there we were shocked how cold the {concrete floors were},...and asked to be moved up some floors next day.  I was really surprised a rather modern building design didn't anticipate they would have to have insulation under that first floor.

Nascar.....I haven't checked their website to see if any changes have been made regarding the 2 car drafting, etc....for the next race.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Well, the rain has left our area.  But there have been been several reports of flooded streets/intersections.  There are also several ditches that have flooded, and one report of a car going into one, not far from where CSX yard is located.  Hope Sarah didn't have too much trouble in the hump yard last night; she hasn't gotten home yet.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Doughnuts, danish, bagels and bear claws, only with bacon, eggs, and toast are on the serving station.

Mookie, I'll make a trip to Walmart and get all the marbles I can for you!  Need to go there anyway:  getting tired of using a fanny pack for a purse, and want to find an actual purse/handbag.

Our current temp is 38 degrees.  It was 39 degrees, when I awoke at 5 a.m., and 39 degrees is to be our high today.  Very brisk breeze blowing, and they are saying we more than likely will see some snow flakes.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Still under a winter storm warning here - the snow isn't so bad - kinda light and fluffy - but it's quite packy, causing problems on the roads (especially the Interstate), and the wind is blowing pretty well, which is blowing the light and fluffy stuff around.

At least it's not bitterly cold - +29F right now.  The wind doesn't help, though.

I cleared the driveway earlier and the wind is keeping it mostly clear, except where it's drifting.

I'd planned a trip into town today, but that delivery will have to wait until Monday.

Tuesday?  Rain....

Our amount received from the weather system that passed by {a bit north of us}, from last night until this morning was {my estimate}, 4" of the stuff, but the sun came out by noon and it has pretty good power now....so it's worked on it pretty good.

Again, overcast but rather bright this morning.  mod. temps.  Above 30 now....They are saying all snow will be melted by tomorrow sometime.

I can drive a 1000 mi. and arriving home I will find more snow on our driveway, than any other location in that distance.  I've actually done that in the past.

Seems our driveway slopes away from the sun and is the last to melt from it....Homes across the street have melting on said driveways before we do...Their's are facing the sun more directly with the Winter sun.

Yesterday, I simply had my neighbor drivce up our dirveway with his 4 X 4 and make tracks.  That took care of the 4" of stuff from overnight.

AWD car has been setting in garage for about 6 weeks now....See no reason to get it all messed up if not needed.  But would like to get it out soon to excercise it....I know that's not good for batteries to not have them in a use cycle for a long period of time.

Feb. almost finished.....then the exciting time of March....transition time for weather.

Good Morning Everyone!  Currenlty 65 and cloudy here in Alamo City.  Weather guessers are calling for a high of 78 under cloudy skies.

Quentin, do you periodically start you AWD car...if for nothing else, just to turn it over.

Reminds me of when my Grandpa still drove his car.  He had a 1951 Henry J.  It stayed in the garage all winter.  Every now and then he would go out and just fire her up.

Everyone enjoy your Saturday..and if you are in the snow/ice area...please be careful.

P.S:  If y'all have some rain to spare...appreciate it if you could send it our way...very dry down here!

Murray......I didn't intend to keep it inactive as long as it's been.....We generally drive it to church, but with this Winter and it's weather patterns, seems it has just stayed in the garage.  I know it should be driven, and I must soon do so...

I just hate to take it out in all the salt if I don't have to.

And I remember the Henry J autos.....Do you remember Sears sold that same car as an "Allstate"...

Well, as my nextdoor neighbor says "It doesn't do any good to complain," and I tell him, "It does if you know the right person to complain to." Of course, it does help if you know how to get the complaint to the right person.Smile
