.....Sunny and cool in Muncie today.  But the little green leaves keep poping out in various places.

At Bruner's restaurant this morning, watched a long grain train pass E B.  Then on the way back at another location in town, had to wait for a W B over on N S Frankfort line.  Conclusion:  After seeing those trains, I believe the trains are getting longer again....Perhaps a note of the increasing economy...?  Hope so.

Anyone else read the extensive article on the computer here today about Social Security....Explaining how most recipients will probably not get any advanage of "COLA" again this coming year.

That should get a lot of people's attention....Anyone, involved....seek it and read it at the explanations.....Look out for the "push back noise" about that.....

A little frustration setting in:  Our planning of having the lawn rolled has not happened yet, and....In a day or so, I want to mow....It really needs rolled too....Seems the type of Winter we have had, roughed it up pretty good.  So many yards in this area have so many "brown spots" from the Winter too....Mine is not as bad as many, but does have some.

Snow! Two inches, so far, in about an hour. This should knock down the red flag warnings! (100 acre range fire near the house yesterday, they had a range fire start up north in the snow this morning)

CW: Heard from diningcar this morning (he's been quiet lately)

Good Monday morning everyone.  Hip Hip Hooray! for the Kentucky Wildcats!!!  Thanks goodness I've finally stopped biting my fingernails, otherwise, I probably wouldn't have any nails left.

Coffee, juices, milk, chocolate milk, strawberry milk, cider (hot or cold) and plenty of hot water for our hot tea drinkers are all ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, English muffins, turkey bacon, pork sausage, turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns or tater tots, biscuits & milk gravy.

We currently have 36 degrees here this mornning.  It was 37 degrees the past 2 hours; guess it'll probably drop another degree or two before it rebounds, going for a high of 49, maybe low 50s for a high today.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

No one interested in dinner?!  Guess that is a good thing, as I can't think of anything either.  Reckon we'll just make it simple things, for any of you watching the NCAA tournaments:

Pizza, barbecued ribs, chicken wings and sloppy joes w/chips will have to suffice, I guess.

You all enjoy your afternoon/evening and take care.

P.S.  Has anyone heard anything from grampaw pettibone (Tom)?  I don't even think he has been on facebook for quite a while.

Well, Canada lost it. Our last shot of the game came up short. So we get the Silver medal.

Not sure what my plan for the rest of the day is yet.

Good morning everyone. Nice to see so many around this early.

24°F and fog with no windchill right now. The end of the snow has now been pushed back to midday Monday.

I'm just dropping by for a moment as we are in a tough gold Medal Curling game and at the moment we are leading

Thanks for breakfast CW.

Nine-thirty in the morning and still only +17F....

Quentin - we have shale in this area as well, but it's not the predominant loose stone.  For that we choose between glacial gravel (there are a number of sizable deposits) and crushed limestone, the whole version of which underlies much of this area.  To say that well water around here is hard is an understatement.

There are several large "gulfs" in the area that run through shale.  Out west they'd probably be called canyons...

....Your correct Larry....Plenty of "gravel" in this area....my comments referring to "shale" comes from the fact our home area is western Pennsylvania.  But we've learned to say "gravel" to fit in here.....

I do have it all around the house....It keeps any mud from splashing up on the brick, and all I need to do is put one tractor wheel on the gravel edge, and mow all around the house and no trimming involved in that area.

Trimming...For anyone interested....i purchased a "Worx" tool, combination trimmer and edger, 18 volt battery powered last season, and it really works great.  Head can be rotated 90 degrees to go from trimming to edging....as along our 70 ft. driveway and a couple sidewalks.  Even has small wheels to use in the edging position.

Sunshine here this morning, but just 24 degrees now.  Must get ready for church.  Believe we'll take that long resting car out of the garage to do so today.

A good sunny day to all......

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Bruce, if the monitor stayed in one piece, after posting my picture, I'm sure it will hold up with your picture.

32 degrees w/a dusting of snow on the ground here in Louisville this morning.  Roads appear to be dry.  I believe our high today is to be in the mid 40s.  And Quentin, I'm sorry to say it, but the guessers are saying we could see some more light snow tonight.  Like you, and most other people, I'm sick of seeing snow, and more than sick of hearing that word!!

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, strawberry milk, regular milk, hot water for tea are all fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  oatmeal, bacon, toast, bagels, bear claws, English muffins, sausage, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs.

Everyone enjoy your morning, and if anyone has any Sunday Dinner requests, please let me know.

Gee, Quentin - I'd think you would be in gravel country - glacial gravel, which is all too common in southern MI.

You can prop that sagging jet stream up a bit if you like.  It's a whole +14F here as I write this.  Brrrr.  At least it's not snowing...

The big pile left over from clearing our FD banquet hall parking lot will take a while to melt at this rate.

And since it's staying below freezing during the day, too, I suspect the maple syrup producers may be having issues.

Time for bed.

CW, it is nice to put faces to your names. I could never post my picture as it would precipitate class action lawsuits all over everywhere when my ugly mug broke peoples computer monitors!

I will have a #7 Pizza to enjoy while I zone out on the TV this evening.

I will check back during the Gold Medal game in the morning.

....Snow...CW, we really don't want to see any more of that stuff.  Dry here today, and still on the cool side.  Jet stream has sagged down below us, so the colder stuff can freely move this way.

Believe next week is to be back to more normal temps.

Had about 20' of shrubs along the west end of the house removed today.....It will be retrofited back to gravel...{shale, as we easterners say}, have a couple feet of gravel all around the house that is not driveway or patio.   Much less to trim.  Keep reducing that total.  Too much work to keep after them.

Don't think they are talking about any rain / snow over the weekend here.....Certainly hope none appears.  Kind of getting that out of our daily routine system now.

A decade or so ago I remember a photograph in the Muncie paper of a fellow with his horse and slay out for a last season ride....and that was April 6th...But that was out of the ordinary.  A couple of inches of the stuff, but it melted rather quick.

Well, we are getting rain.  Started a few minutes ago.  A little bit later, the wintry mix of rain/snow will commence.  Looking for 1 to 2 inches, just on grassy area, and, of course, bridges and overpasses.

Here's our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Canadian bacon

2.  Cheese

3.  Chicago style

4.  Goetta

5.  Hawaiian

6.  Italian sausage

7.  Pepperoni/mushroon

8.  Supreme

9.  Anchovie

10.  Ham & green pepper

Everyone enjoy, have a good evening, and take care.

Well, as promised, here are a couple of the birthday pictures I took last night.  The first is of Mama Elizabeth & her cake, and the second picture is one of Walt and me with her.

In all, I think I took about 17,18 pictures last night.  About 3 or 4 more than Walt took.  But, we all had a good time and enjoyed ourselves.

Well, Canada beat China and now moves on to the gold Medal game against Sweden tomorrow. At the more reasonable time of 7 AM.

I'm not as tired yet as I thought I would be so I guess I will go out now and do something useful.

Good morning. Good to see you here this morning CW.

I have been up so long today already it seems like I should have lunch. Due to the time difference with Denmark, the first semi-final game for the Canadian women curlers went at 3:00 AM MDT. So being the Curling fan I am, I did the only logical thing and went to bed about 10:00 last night and set my alarm for 2:50 this morning. We won that game and now we are in the semi-final against China which just started 20 minutes ago. Next on the agenda after this game is a nap!

A quick check of the weather shows the coolest temperature I've seen this week, 20°F with no windchill, and snow still in the air. The end of the snow has now been pushed back to Sunday. That would mean nine straight days of continuous snow. It seems like we have had some recent winters without nine separate days of snowfall altogether.

Everyone have a good day and may your team win in the NCAA games this afternoon. Imagine watching sports at a sensible time!

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Finally got to sleep about 1:40 this morning.  The little female cat woke me up about 7:45 this morning.  Joe, I'm sorry the ballgame last night didn't go in y our favor.  But it was a very good game, and the score stayed tight all the way through.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot water for tea, and other beverages are all ready to go.  Getting a nice Saturday brunch ready to go on the serving station.

Everybody have a good day, take care, and I'll try to post a couple of pictures from last night sometime this afternoon.

Cannonball, your tale of Shirl and cataracts reminds me that Ricki had both done (separately, of course) several years ago, and after she received the cataract lenses in her glasses her vision was improved, as well as the macular degeneration would let her. May Shirl not have that complication.

Heavy snowfall this morning, which stopped by three (it was only a light fall about 1:30 in the afternoon) in the afternoon.

Whew!  What an evening.  We received a phone call, around 5:30, to go across the street, to our neighbor's 83rd Birthday Dinner.  This is the one we call Mama Elizabeth, who actually lives 'next' door to us, but is still recovering from whatever had her in the nursing/rehab center a year ago.  Her daughter fixed a very good supper:  ham, chicken wings, cabbage, corn on the cob, fried apples, green beans.  We didn't stay for the ice cream and cake.  Maybe I'll post a couple of pictures I took over there tonight sometime tomorrow.

See, I told you, if I stayed away, everybody would be back in.  Smile, Wink & Grin  Going to get ready to watch the UK/Ohio State game.  I'll have to go up and watch it on the TV in our bedroom.  Walt will want to watch the news on the downstairs TV.  Joe, thanks for fixing the pop corn.  Nice treat for game watching (no matter what game).  See you all tomorrow.

NL cam - those are "tawny owls" in the nest box.  And the Battling Bickersons are still making just noise.

I suspect they may be "with young" (or at least egg(s)), as one of them brought home "takeout" the night before last.  Apparently the all-night diners there also serve mice...

Heard some cows bellerin', too.  Must have been on the owl cam as that was the only non-railroad sound I had open.

No trains today - ran them all yesterday, so we went to Lowes and got some birdy saucers for baths, got a sammich and went to lake to watch the ducks.  We have Buffleheads right now - boy are they fast!  They must have small motors attached to their aft.

Cloudy and cold - about 36 and windy.  Snow maybe tonite.  Had trace last nite.  Bah - Spring!

All forums go through slumps.  On a local board I help moderate someone espoused the opinion that it was because of "censorship."  That usually means a thread they have an interest in was locked...

I suspect things will pick up again.  Spring is here, so a lot of folks are doing the outside stuff they put off all winter.  As soon as it warms up here (it's just freezing here right now, if sunny), I'll be doing very much the same thing.
