I think Willy's crew at Weatherliar U found and got the double overdrive working on the snow machine, heard a report of Buffalo getting four feet of snow since Wednesday. Killed one of our normal backhauls out of Niagra Falls, so had to do a broker load, which was interesting (ever wonder what 42,000lb of pasta looks like? I now know...).
Down in Cartersville, GA today, waiting on a glass load to be loaded to head norrth, by that time, the snow should be done falling for a while.
See everyone later....

Randy, making it A-OK? Watch out for those other drivers! I know you'll be careful, though.
Been to the grocery, and taking a break from addressing Christmas cards. It wouldn't feel so bad out, if the wind weren't blowing like crazy. Feels like the upper teens out to me: just came in from setting out the recycling for Monday pickup.
Roast, taters, carrots, slaw, tossed salad and nice, hot buttermilk biscuits straight out of the oven are on the serving station.
Dessert tonight: dark chocolate cake w/white icing and apple cobbler. (Ice cream is in the freezer, if'n anyone wants their cake or cobbler ala mode.)
You all enjoy, have a very good evening, keep warm and take care.
Greetings and peace be with you. At present, 44 degrees and cloudy in Carolina expected to drop to 22 overnight. I slept in late and then got on the wireless for a while. Not a whole lot of stuff happening to report on. USC gave the thunderchickens a rousing welcome when they got back last night, and despite yesterday's debacle, consider this season a roaring success. Carolina is known for having lackluster football teams, but it looks like we had a good one this go round.
Everyone have a great week and take care.

.....The cold is on the way Tom. It's down to 25 here now. Believe we're to stay in the colder stuff most of this week. Brrr.
Quentin
Q, I am a cold weather person and it's fine with me if it cools down a bt, so long as it doesn't forget to warm back up after a while. As far as snow goes, enuff to cover the grass a few times a year would be nice. We hardly ever see the stuff!

We still have bad air in the valley, and a fog settled in this afternoon.

Randy - every time I cook pasta, I tend to over do it a little. So yeah, I probably know how much pasta that is.
Johnny, don't forget - ducks bite.

Mornin' glory. How yall is? 26 and clear in Carolina an hour and a half before sunrise. expected to go to 49 later. Help yourselves to the buffet and enjoy yourselves with the standard fare. Of course, there are soft drinks and other stuff in the fountain area.
The thunderchickens are headed right back to the Georgia Dome to play FSU in the Chic Fil-A bowl. I dunno about a chicken eating bowl for thunderchickens, but we shall see.
Have a great day
Good Monday morning everyone. 21 degrees here in Louisville this morning, with wind chills in the single digits. We'll probably drop a couple more degrees this morning, and our projected high for today: 25 degrees. It's going to be a cold day around here.
Tom, thanks for taking care of breakfast for me. I've been up for a little bit, when I 'woke' up the puter, had to do a virus update/upgrade for the coming year. That's why you beat me in here, Tom.
I've got about half our Christmas cards addressed. Hopefully, I'll get them finished today, and tomorrow afternoon, will trek to the P.O. to get Christmas stamps and mail them out.
Everyone have a good morning, keep warm, take care, and I'll see you all later.
Good Snowy Morning

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Psst - your are too early Joe - it isn't until Pearl Harbor Day.
However, could there be another Mookie?
Mookie, there is at least one other Mookie. One of my younger friends on Facebook has a friend by that name.... It may be early, but happy birthday all the same. I will try to remember it again tomorrow
Good Snowy morning to fellow posters.
The cold is here. Much earlier: 11 degrees. Now: 11 degrees...! Might see a high of 21 today....I kind of doubt it.
On my computer, I have the temp displayed for Paisley, Fl., where some of Jean's family lives and this morning as I turned this machine on, it indicated 39. In the past hour, I noted on the weather channel that Miami might be below freezing tomorrow morning.
Here, we're having snow flurries...and to be roughly the same tomorrow. No big storm system, just the system coming around the Low in the upper Great Lakes and creating some lake effect down into Indiana, and some flurries here. Wed. looks better.
....Tom: It would suit me fine if we'd "hardly ever see the stuff"....Our avg. snow fall here is about: 27" per season. Back home in Pa., that figure was much higher....Don't remember just what it was now.....
I do remember a bad one back in 1958 we had 133" of it that season...!
Still working on Christmas cards, and I'm almost finished with them; but have taken a break to get lunch set out for everyone in here:
You have your choice of:
1. Leftover Pizza from Saturday night
2. Leftover Roast, taters, carrots, biscuits, slaw, brown gravy, salad from Sunday Dinner
Very cold outside: I just opened the front door for Sarah to come in. They were deadheaded back to Louisville from Cincinnati. Everyone enjoy your afternoon, take care, and I'll see you all later on this afternoon, evening.
I have been helping Barbara make fudge today. She has a Christmas list for old friends & former co-workers. For lunch I'll grab some left over roast & make a beef & bean burrito.
afternoon
mookie watch your mailbox.errands done in town.CW thanks for the leftovers.going to get ready for work.Another busy night in the warehouse.Tomorrow night is the annual Christmas concert put on by the local commuinity band.Matt and I always enjoy it.
Joe
Tom, just think of the original name for the bowl game played in Atlanta: the Peach Bowl; do your chickens like peaches? May your boys bring a few tomahawks (and scalps?) back home after their next trip to Atlanta.
Some other name changes--the Bluebonnet Bowl is now called the "Alamo Bowl;" the Tangerine Bowl was the "Florida Citrus Bowl" for a while (and there was an ersatz "Tangerine Bowl," played earlier in Orlando for a few years), then it was renamed "Tangerine," and now it is known as "Capital One"--which bears no connection at all to the area.
Other strange names: Beef O'Brady's Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl (successor to the ersatz Tangerine Bowl?), TicketCity Bowl, GoDaddy.com Bowl, BBVACompass Bowl, Fight Hunger Bowl (do the proceeds from the tickets go to provide food?), Pinstripe Bowl.
Joe, may Ohio State take a few pork chops, a roast or two, and a side of bacon back home (chitlins, too, if they like such).
Mookie, I remember the drake we had for a few years, he seemed meek when he knew you were looking at him, but when you turned your back and walked away, he would follow you with a menacing look in his eye and waddle--until you turned back and then he would say, "What, me intend to harm you?" We never really knew what became of him, but we think that the puppy we had (about half his size) may have done him in; all we found of him was his beak.
Comfortable weather this morning--about thirty degrees with a sprinkle of rain; the sun was out while we were eating lunch but it has hidden its face again.
Good Tuesday morning! Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot water for tea and hot cider are all ready to go.
MOOKIE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hope it is a very good day for you: doing whatever your heart desires.
Here is Mookie's birthday breakfast list:
All the regular breakfast fare, plus omelettes this morning.
I'd better get back in the back, as I'm waiting for the birthday cake to cool, so I can start to frost/ice it. Mooks, everything on today's menu is per your wish list!!
Good morning and Happy Birfday Mooks. May you have many more. 20 degrees and partly clear in Carolina headed for 43 so they sez.
Everyone Have a great day
morning
somewhere between cold and brr this morning here in nw ohio.Cw used my forklift to put the cake platform in place for Mookies birthday.Time for bed.
Wishing a Happy Natal Day to Madam La Mook! CW probably needed the forklift for the cake (chocolate), too!
Snowing here, with more to come. Looks to be 4-6" of light, fluffy stuff. Guess it's time to dig the snowblower out of the garage... I just hope it backs off for my drive to Utica tomorrow, although snow certainly helps set the scene at the "North Pole."
Speaking of the North Pole - here's a night cell phone shot of North Pole Station:
Gotta go shovel. And put up the Christmas decorations.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mookie!!!!
Hope It's A Great One!!!!!!
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Here is the lunch selection Mookie requested:
Club sandwiches w/ curly fries.
We'll hold off on presenting the cake until later this afternoon, early evening, when I post the supper/dinner menu. For now, though, for lunch time dessert, we have yellow cake w/chocolate Cool Whip for the frosting.
Very, very cold outside. I stayed in our entry hall this morning, and let the people come up to the door to have their names put on the list for Produce. We only had 41 people today. On the truck today: broccoli, baby spinach, apples, large bags of salad mix, and 5# bags of potatoes.
Mookie and everyone, enjoy your lunch and have a very good afternoon. Think I'm going to try to take a short nap.
Since I don't post on the the Railroad Happenings thread any more, I'll post this on here for today:
1993A gunman opened fire on a Long Island Rail Road commuter train, killing six people and wounding 17. (Colin Ferguson was later sentenced to a minimum of 200 years in prison.)
Happy Birthday, Mookie! May your cake be full of chocolate.
Bright and sunshiny this morning, but still cold (about thirty four hours ago).
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. It is a true milestone each and every year. That's because it is the day I address and mail xmas cards and then sit and wait to be waited on.
Well, one out of two ain't bad. Mailed the cards earlier.
Being retired, there is only one constant in our household. We never know what day or date it is. If the calendar doesn't say dr appts this week, we blow off the whole week and don't look again until we turn the page. We both missed our ann. and I didn't remember Pearl Harbor Day today until I read a small blurb in the paper.
Duh.
Nice day. No wind. However, it is still cold. Still December. Still no violets in the lawn. Crud!
Mookie and everyone, here's tonight's supper menu:
Broiled ribeye steaks, baked taters w/sour cream and/or butter, sauteed mushooms & onion, broccoli w/cheese sauce, tossed salad and Italian bread sticks.
The big, big, big chocolate cake w/raspberry filling and chocolate icing has been rolled in on the fork lift, and is ready for Mooks to blow out the candle and cut the cake. If anyone wants ice cream, plenty of flavors to chose from, too!
Once again, Mookie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hope it's been a very good one for you!
Gee, wish I could lose track of what day of the week it is!
One constant - Wednesday is trash day...
Got the decorations up on the house and the fire station. Time to finish getting things lined up for workin' on the railroad for the next three days.
Wednesday on the Polar Express will be trying - only two T&E on the train, plus the engineers (hopefully there will be car hosts!), and I'm one of them. I predict a one-man class one brake test...
The riders, however, won't notice the difference and will enjoy their magical trip to the North Pole.
