Well, it looks like we've had a few more people in here this morning.  That is good!

Our regular Friday Fish Fry is now on the serving station.  And, since it's so warm, I've moved the serving station out on the patio for today.    All the regular fish, sides and dessert menus, including chocolate cake w/chocolate icing and peach cobblers.

Our projected temps for this weekend are basically like today:  highs in the upper 80s, possibly 89.  No chance of any rain until maybe Wednesday, with a 20% chance.  Guess we'll be watering plants again tonight.

Everyone enjoy your lunch, afternoon, take care and I'll see you all later this afternoon, or evening.

Our Friday morning here is a very nice one.  But of course, very dry.  Sunshine as has been for over a week now.  Temp to reach 80 this afternoon.

After I get up from here, I will go and do a yard mowing.  Neighbors on both sides have had same done this week, so I will catch up and make it all look nice and smooth.

Mowing has been a minimum here since Aug. 1st.  Dry...dry....dry.

Leaves will not have much color here....Again, they are drying up and falling off some of the trees....Others, still green.

Looks like a nice weather weekend here too.

The soybean crop around here is bountiful. The asian beetles are invading the area homes now that the soybean fields have been harvested. The corn crop is very good. The yield is smaller than last year because too much rain earlier, which flooded some of the fields. I have some yard work to do today so I am making biscuits & gravy for breakfast.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Well, it looks like things were really slow in here yesterday.  I had several things going on, so that is why I never made it back in.

Bob, the only reason I didn't comment on the Reds yesterday morning:  I was still half asleep, and they weren't on my mind.  Hopefully, they'll do better tonight.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.  Along with some of our Friday doughnuts and danish, you'll find a shortened version of our regular breakfast menu.

We have a temp of 57 degrees this morning, going for a high in the mid to upper 80s.  One of the local meterologists is out in a soybean field doing the weather this morning.  He and the farmer showed a soybean stalk, and the pods were so small on it, the farmer said they just come right back out of the combine.  The weather has been so dry, they're getting their harvesting done early.  And I don't think we're going to see much 'fall colors' this autumn, either.

Everyone have a good day, and take care.

Took a ride down to the railroad today to work on the 'hay wagon' for our upcoming "pumpkin trains."  The trailer is currently parked at one of our engineer's house so I was there doing the work.

Once when I turned from my truck to go back to the trailer, there was a doe standing next to the trailer.  Made no effort to leave (and may have been looking for a handout).

After lunch I was continuing work on the trailer.  As I turned to return to my truck for a tool I found my way blocked by a 6 point buck, who also made no effort to leave.  Neither did the doe or yearling fawn that accompanied him (although they stayed further away).  I eventually chased him away so I could get back to work.  Tried to take a picture with the phone, but apparently I failed to save it...

At least I got the 'hay wagon' done...

Then came home for the fire meeting and the seasoning of 450 chicken halves for our BBQ on Sunday.

I get to go back to the dentist in about a half hour....Not bad though, just a minor filling.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Currently 58 degrees here in Louisville, supposed to see highs in the 80s today.  And still no rain in sight for us.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.  Normal breakfast fare on the serving station.  (After I got everything cleaned up from last night, that is.)

Everyone have a good morning, and guess I'll see you all later.

Thanks for the Sloppy Joes, Paula. My girl acts like she wasn't ailing at all earlier. Imagine what a car ride can do for her...

Have a great evening.

Tom, glad to hear that one of your girls is back to feeling fine!  Hope you are, also!

Since hardly anyone has been around here lately, lunch (and possibly supper/dinner) will be on the light side.  You all have your choice of:

1.  Bologna sandwiches w/lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, mayo, Miracle Whip or sandwich spread

2.  Sloppy joes w/chips  and garden salad

Will be back later; just got a delivery, and think I'm needed in the utility room.

Good afternoon. It was 48 this morning in Carolina, now 65 and sunny. I had to put one of the girls in the shop this morning. Seems she has an ear infection, but not too serious. We got back home from the vet an hour ago and she is good to go, feeling fine. My credit card has a whopping great hole in it, however. She is worth it tho.

Thanks for breakfast, even though I was late. Take care

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  47 degrees here in Louisville, KY this morning, going for a high somewhere in the 70s today.  And the weather guessers still say it'll be at least another 7 to 14 days before we have a good chance of any rain.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  oatmeal, toast, turkey bacon, pork sausage patties & links, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy.

Not sure what I'm going to get into today, except I need to call the doctor's office and find out about getting my pneumonia shot.  It's been well over 5 years since I had one.  My old doctor said you should get one every 5 years, and this doctor I now see, says 10 years.

Mudchicken, I'm glad to see you made it in here.  And, in case I get forgetful, please wish Boss Hen a Very Happy Birthday from me.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and I'll see you all later.

Our tomatoes are usually long gone by now. Not this year. The only stuff turning brown is where we failed to water.Sad

Concern this year is summer going directly to winter (with no fall)...regardless, we need moisture most of all.

Cleaned out the diner 55 gallon drum of aspirin. It is just absolutely amazing what some people do around railroads in a surveying and engineering sense. Some of the assumptions are frighteningHuh?

Shame, shame on not watering.............

Don't know if we're going directly to Winter here or not.....And We Need RAIN!!!!!!!!!

(It's getting so dry, Rodney Dangerfield doesn't have a comment!)

Does the budget for the Diner/Coffee Shop cover the price of Asprin? We may have to seek some new funding!!

"They" say the best way to not get headaches, is to "cut off the head of the source".

I pulled up the tomato plants yesterday. This morning there was heavy frost on the grass. There is still no color on the maple trees. Tomorrow I have a weenie roast planned.

Stopped in quick to order some electronics for another locomotive, and thought I'd pop in here.  Was cold coming down through Indiana this morning, the ice warning light came on for the first time this season today, warmed into the 60's now, supposed to be like this all the way to Georgia, which will be nice.  Headed to Del Monte with Wal-Mart Vegetables (figure out THAT one!!), should turn out of Atlanta tomorrow with glass for home, and a rest at the house.....

See everyone later.....
