Quentin, that's about the way it is here in downtown Louisville. We didn't have any frost, but the suburban areas did have a little bit.
Our Mexican Fiesta is now underway:
Tacos (hard & soft shell), Burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada), quasadillas, tamales, etc., Spanish rice w/a bed of chopped lettuce and diced tomatoes (onions optional for anyone who wants them).
Noticed about 9 a.m., the Produce truck backed into the Community Center. There was one lady over there, who told them about the sign on the door, saying there would be no Produce/Dare to Care today. They had not been notified that the center would be closed today. So guess I need to find out what is going on, so I don't get blindsided again next week. (I had not seen the sign on the gym door.)
Everyone have a good afternoon, enjoy your lunch, and take care.
Partly sunny this morning. High clouds, but letting in lots of sun.
A first for this season here: Noted frost on north side of our roof this morning. Not sure I understand that with outside temp at 43 degrees.
Temp is picked up at 5' off the ground level, and of couse the roof is a different height...Perhaps that makes the difference.
Should get into higher 60's today. Hope so, want to do a few things {prep}, outside for winter.
Weather predictions have a big bright sun indicated each day up to next Tuesday...! So looks like we stay extremely dry for a while yet.
Quentin
Good morning all!
I’ve been very busy with Student Council, school projects, and Boy Scouts lately. I just seem to be booked solid all the time anymore!
We had a little frost out this morning, second day for it.
The grain harvest is going quite well. The farmers are about 95% done with their harvest. The only bad news is that there is a burn ban because of the extreme dryness.
CW, thanks for breakfast!
Have a good afternoon all!

Well, there. The truck is good for another 3,000 miles and it's clean (on the outside) to boot.
Time to do a little patching on the garage roof, then do some important paperwork. One section of the roof suffered abrasion from tree branches and now leaks copiously. A roll of roofing material should take care of that until I get things together to re-roof the whole danged thing.
Off to my tasks!

Went over for Produce this morning, and found a note on the door, that no produce or bread truck today. Instead, will be there Thursday and Friday at 10:00 a.m. So I can concentrate on things here at home.

Good Tuesday morning everyone. 48 degrees here in Louisville this morning (so far), and going for a high in the upper 60s today.
Mookie, like Quentin said, turn your heat on, just enough to take the chill out of the house. We don't want you getting sick!!
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go. Regular breakfast menu is on the serving station.
Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all after Tuesday Produce.
grampaw pettibone Johnny, when I was first licensed nearly 50 years ago, I used a knife switch as a T/R switch. Of course, at the time, I was using a 35 watt transmitter. With the power I am running now, a knife switch would have every light in the neighborhood flashing like a strobe. Besides, it wouldn't be an effective lightning arrestor. Days of the knife switch are long gone.

finished up chores.CW thanks for supper tonight.Time to get things around for work.
.....61.6 outside here now.....& 74 inside....Jen, flip that thermostat and put a bit of heat in your abode.......or back to the sniffles you go....!
Partly sunny. We too are to get warmer as the week passes.
Yesterday was our first to engage any heat in this home this season.....Can do room by room. This time of the year, with outside temps. just a bit cool, it doesn't take but a little from your heating system to take the chill off.
Talking to the gal that always cleans my teeth at our nearby dentist office this morning that she has both an electric heat pump, and ceiling cable heat. That would be a great combination. Use the heat pump now, when outside temps are moderate, and the ceiling cable heat when it's much colder and the heat pump can't keep up and must turn on expensive calrods. Heat pump also provides A/C as well.
Well! Look what the cat drug in............The Cat!
We are having fall. 61 outside and 66 inside. Too early for furnace, so now have blue nose and toes! May hit 80 midweek, so don't want to rush the season. Makes sleeping interesting. Put on a bedspread over the summer sheets, winter and summer nitegowns, socks and the overhead fan, just in case.
Tree: I was in your neck of the woods this morning. I had to convert 15.2C to F - and went to National Weather Service in Buffalo NY. I watch the webcam in Netherlands and can never remember how their temps convert. 10 or 15 C always seems really cold to me.
CW - I have had electric all my adult life. Most rentals do electric - and they just never seem to have trouble. Unless you abuse them. Of course, our oven is off by 50 degrees (high) but nothing else is wrong so you just make the proper adjustments and works fine. Now if the whole stove would just do prep and cook!
Must run outside and warm up, maybe collect some "fall feathers".....
Moo.....

Here in Louisville at 1:29 p.m., our temp is still in the mid to upper 50s. Supposed to have a high of 63 today. Sun is shining brightly.
For the rest of the day's meals, we have leftovers from yesterday, of the roast, taters & carrots, etc.
Spent the morning calling appliance repair services, to see about getting our oven fixed (won't heat up). Every place I called, it will cost almost $200 to fix/repair. And that's if it is just the igniter. Anything else, and the price will be even more. Guess next week, we'll see about going to see our friends who own/operate the rent to own store, and maybe get a new range. We've only had this one for 12-15 years?
Everyone enjoy your afternoon, take care, and see you all later.
grampaw pettibone Morning all. 54 and clear in Carolina at sunrise, only going to 72 later today. Aaaah, fall has fell! Been up for a while. I spent part of last night testing my antennas, and found two with problems. I need to get a buddy over to check them out, and hope for an easy fix. What took so long was making patch cords for quick disconnect use, so if a storm comes up, I don't have to go under the desk to do it. Paula, thanks for breakfast, and everyone have a great day.

Fall is about here, too. Upper fifties this morning--and we have had a little rain in the last hour or so.
Johnny
good morning

PiperGavin I love the interior of this place, it's actually what inspired the tenant finish Denver landlords acquired. Really nice blend of colors and pieces.

Good Monday morning everyone. Here in the city, we have a current temp of 50 degrees this morning. Some outlying areas are reporting temps ranging from 41 to 47 degrees. South of us, in Greensburg, KY., they have a temp of 37 degrees.
PiperGavin, welcome to the forums and the Flat Wheel Cafe/Diner/Coffee Shop! We're always glad to see new people. Hope you enjoy your times in here. Not too many rules, but we do have a few. 1. Don't miff the cat or the cook. 2. Keep your language clean. 3. No alcoholic beverages. Hope to see you around quite a bit.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go. Mookie, here's your coffee mug!
On the serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage (links & patties), scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.
Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.
Two - count 'em - two sunny and mild days in a row.
Wasn't on the schedule for Saturday, but went down and ran anyhow. Helps when there's an extra body or two to spread out the work.
No trainman today, although I did end up with a car host for the afternoon runs, which helped.
The heavy rain on Thursday caused us track problems where we go south, so we didn't run our usual series, sticking with our usual morning trip north all day both Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully they'll get it fixed up this week and things will be back to normal for next weekend (although I won't be working - it's time for another chicken barbeque).
Preps are going well for our first "pumpkin trains." Should be interesting!
I'm tired.
Smoked carrots?....We've got a new fire on the mountain, this one is about 20 miles from the west portal of Moffat Tunnel, 10 miles from Fraser on Sheep Mountain....really interesting red sunset - should be a smoky evening. We are SO-OOOOO hoping for rain in the middle of the week.
Good evening all. It's been a busy day for me. Spent most of the day in the kitchen, cooking the roast, taters and carrots. Cleaning up as I went along, which I should do all the time; but, I have a tendency to do all the cooking, then clean up and wash dishes, etc., afterwards.
The roast, taters, carrots are ready and on the serving station, along with the following side dishes: your choice of green beans or broccoli, corn & peas cooked together, and cole slaw.
Desserts: Chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, strawberry cheesecake (in case Dan, in particular comes in), and peach cobbler. All served with whatever flavor ice cream you want (big selection in the freezer).
Everyone enjoy, have a good evening and take care.
Joe, as usual, there's containers made up for you to take to work, in the fridge.
afternoon
saw q 509 drop off a B&O sand hopper for Gm this morning. Not many of those left.Cw thanks for supper.calling for scattered frost tonight but the rest of the week looks good.going to get stuff around for work.
Bright sunshine and cloudless skies in Muncie this morning. Our low was indicated here to be 43 much earlier.
Sun pouring in the window here now in the office feels good. Family room faces southeast and the patio door is leaving in nice sun rays too. Still haven't needed to use any heat with one small exception....That being in one bathroom off our bedroom on north side of house. Just minimal. Electric heat and each room is controlled individually.
This coming week seems we'll have lots of sunshine. Rain yesterday turned out to be .5"....Not bad, but we need more. Grass is greening a bit though from it and a half inch a couple days earlier.
Must shut this down and head to church. Red lobster after that.
Everyone have a nice Sunday.
Good Sunday morning everyone. Yes, we did get some rain, at last, yesterday afternoon. Like Walt said, not a whole lot, but a nice, gentle rain for about 30, 45 minutes, I'd guess. Walt, thanks for baking the pizzas last night, and for all you do around here (and at home)!
Dan, I know I wished you a Happy Birthday over on Facebook, but, just in case you make it in here, I want to wish you a belated Happy Birthday here.
Current temp is in the mid 50s, and our high today is to be in the low to mid 60s?
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go. On the serving station this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.
Going to be putting some roast, taters and carrots on in a little bit for our Sunday Dinner. That should be ready around 1:30, 2:00.
Everyone have a very good morning, be careful going to Church, rail fanning, work, or whatever you need to get out and go/do this morning, and take care.
evening
good day at G+G house.Walt thanks for the pizza.Mookie there is another apprentice and her name is Carlie.Matt said he would show her how to be good.
Well, we started the day at about 55-56 degrees; made it all the way to 70, then started dropping off rather fast; and we got to see some "Wet Stuff" coming from the sky....what do you call that stuff?, oh yes, RAIN!! Not like we needed it or anything....this has been the 3rd driest Sep. on record. (to go along with one of the hottest on record) Didn't get much rain, but sure a very welcome relief to not having any; now the temps. starting to drop back to where we need the furnace on is another story.(just finished vacuuming out certain furnace areas, and making sure it's working properly!; it is, and we will probably be enjoying it this evening.)
Boy, did the "Weather Guessers" around here get it today wrong!!
Even though it's a bit early, CW had to run an errand and told me to post the Pizza menu for this evening; so here goes:
1. Canadian Bacon
2. Cheese
3. Chicago Style (gangsters included!)
4. Hawaiian (NO Hula Skirts!!)
6. Italian Sausage
7. Pepperoni, w, w/o mushroom
8. Supreme
9. Chefs Surprise (and you REALLY might be Surprised!)
Edit: Just wanted to wish Dan Bruan a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY Today!!!
Finally, a line of moderate rain is crossing our area now as I type. It appears to be a narrow band angling across Indiana and probably will be clear by sometime this afternoon. But we'll take it.....We seriously really need rain.
51 degrees here when I first looked earlier this morning. Not to get very warm today....mid to high 50's. Next week seems to be prejected to have quite a bit of sunshine and right around the 70 mark for highs.
JoeKoh .Modelcar those containers on the indy line are heading for st.louis to avoid chicago's congestion. stay safe joe

Good Saturday morning everyone. Tom, thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning. Went back to sleep around 6:30, and re-awoke about an hour ago. We currently have a temp of 48 degrees, don't remember what our high is supposed to be exactly, but I think in the mid to upper 60s. Going to be a very cool day!
Tom, where the heck is that "delete" option? I clicked "More" and it is not listed there.
