I think your response to Shaquan Duley is probably like most others, which is hang her from the nearest lamp post.

Tom, actually, I was thinking they should do to her, what she did to her children.  Then she could see how it feels to be treated that way, herself!!Sad

For at least our lunch menu, we have:

1.  Tuna salad sandwiches (you can 'make' your own, using bread, pita bread, or floured tortillas)

2.  Sloppy joes

Both served with your choice of fries or tater chips, garden salad , and, if you like pickles on your sandwiches, we have sweet, bread & butter, and dill.

Our current temp, is 82 degrees.  How lovely.  But, with the start of our State Fair tomorrow, the temps will return to the low 90s.  At least the humidity is to still be low!

Everyone have a very  good afternoon, and take care.

Last year we had a new UNIFIED School District. We had several little kids wind up back at the bus barn. Seems like they were not sure where they should transfer to another bus. The mommies had some mighty high powered words with the super about that. Tomorrow should be smoother for the first day than it was last year.

Wunder if Zuggy ever has had the joy of a long run where the bulk of the ice has melted, the cartons/bottles are floating inside the cooler and then the slack runs-in (cold shower ensues)...

Survey wagon (currently known as "Lurch") with cooler riding the jump seat behind the driver has done that more than once this summer whilst off-roading. (no soap or bath towels available - darn!Smile,Wink, & Grin) ...kinda interior dust control....

A chicken will always bring me to the fore....

I am going to hazard a guess that Lurch has air and that it was on when he upchucked.  Major cold shower!  Laugh  Now the Diner has its own air-chilled chicken!

There was an interesting entry on the police blotter today, It seems that a man, with a general delivery address, was arrested for blocking a roadway with a railcar. I wonder if it was an engineer who didn't have his DL with him. Absolutely nothing further anywhere to clarify the issue.

Good Thursday morning everyone.  Nice outside this morning, with a very nice breeze.  Currently 71 degrees, going for a high of 93 today, with a little more humidity, but not supposed to be too muggy.  Guess we'll see.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.  Mookie, here's your coffee mug, ready for you.  On the serving station this morning:  oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits and gravy.

Mudchicken, glad to see you made it in here last evening!

Well,  people are starting to pour into the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, preparing for Opening Day.  The governor and other bigwigs will be arriving soon for the annual Opening Day breakfast.  Wonder if they'll be arriving by train.  Too bad Sarah's not working this morning, as if they are, guess she would see the train out at the yard.  Yesterday was her off day, and she hasn't received a call yet this morning.

On the situation with the kids getting home from school on time Tuesday afternoon:  two principals have been put on paid leave, because they didn't check to make sure that the kiddos had their ID lanyards properly filled out, with their bus information.  Good news is that all the kiddos made it home safely and on time yesterday.

Everyone have a good morning, keep cool, with the temps heating back up, and take care.

......A very nice morning to start our day......Headed for the barber shop.  He doesn't have much to do, but it's necessary.

No trimming shrubs right away this morning, as they {from humidity}, are really wet.  Sunshine, and the air smells so fresh coming in our windows.

Good afternoon. Rahther quiet in heah dontcha think? 84 and sunny in Carolina. We had a heavy rain with some thunder last night that refreshed things. There was slightly over an inch in an hour at the jetport, but I think we had more.

Nothing further on the railcar arrest. He had been arrested a while back for littering, so it is doubtful he works for the railroad. If anything further develops, I will advise.

Take care and stay cool

It's straight up here. We did get up to Snowbird yesterday for lunch and supper. Ricki's daughter Ginny and a friend of hers had gone up Tuesday and left some bacon so we had bacon and tomato (with mayonnaise (for me) and Miracle Whip (for Ricki) sandwiches for lunch, and ate supper in an Italian restaurant. It rained while we were eating supper, but it had stopped by the time we left.

Afternoon all.  Sorry about my laxness in being in here lately.  I just get kind of bummed out this time of year, when hardly anyone is in here.  Walt and took the glass out of the security door yesterday afternoon, and washed them and the security door, then I went back over the glass with window cleaner, for a no drip/no streak shine.  Now, next cool down, need to take care of some of the other windows.  Or maybe I'll just get our jet steam attachment out, and put it, along with some cleaner, on the hose, and do them that way, at least the outside of them!

For the late lunch crowd and supper tonight, here's what I've come up with:

1.  Pork roast w/potatoes, carrots, onion, broccoli w/cheese sauce (I did have a little bit of pork roast the other night, but have left the rest of it for Walt.)

2.  For those w/cholesterol problems, we have grilled chicken or steak, w/your choice of broccoli w/or w/out cheese sauce, baked potatoes, sliced carrots

Everyone have a good afternoon, keep cool and take care.

And a good day on the railroad today.  A bunch of mountain bikes (a market we've been actively pursuing) and decent crowds on the other trains as well.  Not to mention a good crew.  Gotta get up early in the AM so I can wash some windows (the passengers appreciate being able to see out, and the outsides get really grungy sometimes).

Later!

We at last received a good rain (accompanied by thunder and lightning) today. I am  not sure, but I think that this rainfal was reported at the official Salt Lake City station: two and a half months' worth of rain in an hour and a half! If this was widespread around the valley (and up the slopes), our water year was improved greatly--northern Utah's water year has been short of the average.

If you see normal, please direct it to my location. (The "Normal" in Illinois is too close to Bloomington which causes it to be Ab-Normal.)Whistling

Good morning. 75 at sunrise in Carolina, headed for 94later. Can't really tell, but it seems to be clear at present. We had a night of thunder and light rain that went on for some time. It was interesting at least.

Breakfast is served on the buffet bar and help yourself to the non-alcoholic drinks of your choice at the dispenser.

Have a great day

Good Friday morning everyone.  A little bit warmer this morning, with a temp of 72, going for a high of 95 today.   Guess it's to be expected,as the fair is in town, and the kids are back in school.  Are there many school districts left, that actually don't go back to school until after Labor Day?!?!

Tom, thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning.  I really appreciate the help I get around here from some you!  I think I'm going to have to go shopping for a new clock radio.  Seems the alarm has decided to quit working on the one that is in our bedroom.  That could be a very bad thing for me, especially on Tuesday mornings.  I (and the other two members of this household) would not like to be awakened by the people coming on Tuesdays for Produce, and ringing the doorbell!

Hope you all have a very good morning, and take care.

Joe - it was hot and humid yesterday, but toward evening, it was much more bearable.  Think the days are changing rapidly - highs not as high and a little more bearable as the sun starts to go down.

We are waving goodbye to company after lunch and then I have put in a request to go trackside later in afternoon.  May not stay long - will depend on breeze or not.  And trains.

I need to do a little plumbing in the back of the throne.  This involves my inspection and getting finners wet, telling the Driver to look at it and getting his finners wet, then calling the landlord to call his son and then they bring out a new cap for the well so it will quit leaking.  Since we all can't fit in our closet-sized bathroom, I don't know if there are any more wet finners.

Mookie, know what you mean about the plumbing.  In both our bathroom, and the half bath, the 'throne' is in a corner.  Not much space for one person to work in, let alone two or three!  Full bath is a full size room, but still not enough space for two or more people to be working on the throne at one time.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way, and will be replenished about every two hours, as needed:

FISH:  Bass, catfish, cod, haddock, halibut, flounder, Shrimp (jumbo butterfly), Tilapia

SIDE DISHES:  Baked beans, cole slaw, corn on the cob, mac & cheese, fries, hush puppies, deep fried breaded mushrooms

DESSERTS:  Chocolate cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, apple, blueberry, cherry, peach and pecan pies; blackberry, peach and strawberry cobblers.  All served with ice cream

Sarah just got a call for work this afternoon-evening.  Hostler hearder (sp?)

I was so tired this morning, didn't even make it through my morning emails.  Went back to bed and sleep, re-awoke sometime after 10.  And, belive it or not, feel like I could go back to sleep now.

Everyone have a good afternoon, and I'll see you all later.  Mookie, hope you have enough breeze and trains to make trackside worthwhile this afternoon!

Laugh

Believe it or not, that can happen around here in our urban neighborhood as well- the local raccoons hide either up in the tall trees or in the storm sewers during the day, and get into the trash during the night.

....A Raccoon can really do serious damage in a garage to a vehicle....Chew off radiator hose, and of course wiring....Heard the taste of anti-freeze is an incentive to get into such action, but then if they do, it most likely will be their demise, or a very sick animal.
