Quentin, is that your favorite spaghetti/pasta?  I really don't care for the angel hair pasta.  As far as bread sticks go, I usually make sure they have enough moisture in them when I'm making them , and cover them with butter/margarine.  And that's one reason I prefer the Texas toast:  it is never too dry.

Oh yes....We frequent our Olive Garden restaurant here in Muncie quite a bit and I find their Angle Hair spaghetti and meat sauce {ummmm, good}, and we ask for bread sticks minus the garlic and receive them "dry" and with pads of butter for them....That really makes an excellent meal.  Making me hungry just writing about them....

......And I forgot to add....We have a cool morning w/ no wind, and just a fine mist of rain at times.  Was hoping to get a couple of hrs. of dry today to get my lawn attended to, but doesn't look promising.  In fact, I'll stop and go check how wet the grass is right now.....Yep, it's wet....Bummer...I'll need a scythe if I soon can't get to it....

It's about 56 degrees but calm winds, so doesn't feel too bad.  Overcast.

Trivia:  Noted in local paper this morning we'll have 5 {yes five...!}, young females trying for a position in the Indy 500 mi. race this year....Of course the two who have been involved recently and most popular are Danica Patrick and Sarah Fisher....The others, I don't have the names in front of me now.  This is a new record of ladies trying for a position in the famous race.  Janet Guthre back in {I believe}, the 70's was the first to get it started in modern times....Not sure about any further back in the decades.

I heard on the news this morning, that today is the (?) anniversary of the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens.  How long ago has that been?  I do not recall them saying how many years (caught the very last of the sound bite).

My family and I were living in Spokane when it blew in 1980. The next morning I measured 4 inches of ash in my driveway. The emergency broadcast system did not work. I was mowing the lawn when I saw the dark cloud coming. I was in Yakima the previous day on business and that company offered to put me up for the night. I would have been stranded for more than a week.

That'd be 30 years CW.  Quite the mess it made and scars can still be seen out there.

No kidding...

Thank you, Dan, for the info on when Mt. St. Helens erupted; and thanks also to Bob and Brian for the pictures.

We finally got Tuesday Produce over with.  The truck was late, compared to the last two months.  Had 62 people today, but had several slow helpers, who couldn't get their act together on filling the bags with the produce.  Today we got tomatoes, green sweet peppers, cabbage, celery and potatoes.

So, for tonight, we have meat loaf w/mashed taters & gravy from the meat loaf, green beans, and we'll have a garden salad with the celery, peppers, tomatoes and a little bit of cabbage in with the lettuce.  (We'll have our Mexican Fiesta tomorrow.)

After I got home from Produce, Walt and I caught the bus and went to vote.  So we have done our patriotic duty, until November.

We have very cloudy skies, with a temp of 62.2 degrees (that's from our thermometer).  Everyone enjoy your supper, have a good evening, and take care.

Question  Joe ; is there much rail traffic from Ansonia to Belfontaine and Crestline ?  I was asked that by another Buceye friend recently.  With the years and mergers , is the rail lines still there ?   Sign - Oops misspelled Buckeye Blush

                                            Respectfully, Cannonball

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  I hope you all had a very good evening, and everyone is doing all right.  We currently have 57 degrees, with cloudy skies, going for a high in the mid to upper 60s today, with a little bit of sunshine.

It looks like we had a slow night in here.  Everything is cleaned up from supper last night, and I've got the coffee fresh and ready to go, along with our juices, there's hot chocolate, hot water for tea, and the usual soft drinks and iced tea for anyone who doesn't drink coffee or hot tea.

On the serving station this morning:  BLTs , bagels, bear claws, sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs and toast.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll see you all a little later.  Take care.

Cannonball

the former nyc route between crestline and belfontaine is the csx indy line.It connects with the B&O line at greenwhich ohio(just east of willard). It also connects with the C&O at Marion ohio.It serves the honda plant in marysville ohio. The W&LE use the track from greenwhich to get to there track at New London ohio.Crestline is a former shell of itself. The prr roundhouse is gone.Csx has a small yard there and interchanges with the CF&E(chicago ftwayne and eastern). Also in ansonia RJ corman has a branch line that hooks up with CSX.We really need to get a field trip over to the eastern part of ohio and go exploring.Hope this helps.

Cw thanks for breakfast.the rain has stopped here in nw ohio for now.

stay safe

Another gray morning.....But it's to thin out some later supplying us with some sunshine.....I sure hope so.  Have some stuff I must do outside....One, as soon as the grass dries and clean a certain location of spouting....Noted it was spilling out over a section.  Must have a glob of leaves blocking the downspout.

I note with the  bit below normal in temps we've been having, a change seems to be on the way....Noted in the long range forecast a 91 degree day coming in 4 or 5 days.

Asparagus by the ton......???

Afternoon, everyone.  Uh, Bob, think I'll pass on buying the asparagus plots.  (yuck, yuck, yuck)

As I promised yesterday, I now have our Mexican Fiesta underway on the serving station:

1.  6 oz. sirloin steaks

2.  Burritos, however you want them filled (beef, beef & bean, or beef enchilada style)

3.  Chimichangas

4.  Baja burritos

5.  Tacos (soft shell and hard shell)

6.  Smoked cheddar bacon burgers

7.  Spanish rice

We are still on the cool side, with very cloudy and overcast skies.  I think our current temp is about 63 degrees.

Everyone enjoy your afternoon, your meal, and take care.

Double yuck, and that's not a chuckle! Shame on you, Bob.

Good afternoon, everyone except Bob. 79 and Sunny in Carolina. I woke up early with a headache, so I laid back down. The wife seems to think it's a side effect to my insulin. If so, I'll learn to live with it!

Everyone take care

....The weather forecasters were correct.  Off and on sunshine this afternoon, and another mowing is complete.  Still just mild temps.  Fine with me for now, no humidity to fight, just comfortable.

Well, back after a three hour (in each direction) bus ride to the state capitol where a young EMT who died in the line of duty here was added to the state EMS memorial.  It was a nice, brief ceremony, made slightly more somber by the leaden skies.

You can have that asparagus.

On to other pressing projects.

Bloomers!  Asbestos Bloomers at that!  Again!  If there is smoke it will be in a smokehouse cooking a "turkey"!  Angry

Benkelman!  Perfect - right where I want to wait on the border.  Then I can drive out of Lincoln and get you again on your run to Fairbury!  Ditto return trip!  Mischief

CW - order in a load of toothpicks.  I will need them after this weekend's skirmish!  Dinner

Murray....We seem to have a pretty good one here in Muncie.  I'd say it's been here now about 10 yrs. or so...Perhaps a bit longer.

We have a Johnny Carino Italian resturant here too {it's newer}, and for a while we would go there for spaghetti, but after visiting our O G I found they made  a really good offering....For both our tastes.  Love their Angle Hair with the meat sauce.   Then as I mentioned before, the bread sticks without garlic, and just butter on them.....Hmmmm good.

They seem to be very successful here.  Jean and I will always ask for a table in the bar...and almost each time, we can walk right in.  Otherwise, it's a wait most times.

Good Thursday morning, everyone, Bob included!  Hope you all had an enjoyable evening.

Uh oh, I hope Mookie and the mudchicken aren't feuding!  Brian, maybe you need to send mudchicken your steel toed boots!  Wink

Coffee, juices (orange, orange/tangerine, pineapple, apple, and grape) are all freshly made, and ready to go.  Plenty of steaming hot water for hot tea.

On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs, cantaloupe  and watermelon chunks, and pineapple chunks.  I believe there is also some kiwi and papaya.

Everyone have a good morning, and you all take care.

Good morning from Carolina. 61 and cloudy at present, but not calling for rain, that I know of.

I spoke with Justin on Facebook, and he sends his regards. Seems that he is class president now and is awful busy.

Good to see that superchicken and madamozle la Mook are alive and well. It is refreshing to watch them fight each other.

Thanks for breakfast, and everyone have a great day

For lunch today, since I've been very busy in the kitchen here at home this morning:

1.  Leftover meat loaf w/mashed taters, meat loaf gravy, shellie beans, corn, and fresh sliced tomatoes

2.  Sloppy joes w/garden salad and fries (regular or curly)

We have a current temp (last I saw on our thermometer a few minutes ago, of 69.9 degrees. It looks like the sun is trying to peek out behind the clouds.  High today is supposed to be about 75.

You all enjoy and have a great afternoon.

......A most beautiful day here in Muncie land.....Bright sunshine and low humidy.  73 plus degrees right now.  Couldn't ask for any better.

Time to go remove some leaves / whatever from a spouting area at the front of our house.

Already had pup to Vet for check up, and a good breakfast at our local family restaurant {railroad visible}, but no trains during our stop there.

Everything has been replenished and is now on the serving station for tonight. Hope you all enjoy.

We've got more rain coming in for later tonight/overnight (probably some gusty winds and storms around 2 a.m.).  We did have a little bit of rain earlier, around 2:30 or so.  I got caught in it, without rain jacket, but it wasn't too bad.  Just took my glasses off, and put them in my sweat pants pocket, to keep them from getting all spotty.

Everyone have a good evening, and you all take care.

CW - gentle rain almost all day for us.  Cool, but on the way to mid-80's by this weekend and full sun.

Tree - Our trip to North Platte was only 4 hours and I thought we would never get there.  It took us about 7 hours, but we stopped in several towns, stopped for a nap, stopped for breakfast and lunch....all those stops make a very long drive.....

Gonna stop for now....
