Whistling Quentin; maybe those nice folks who wanted to go to the convention center could take the train to Phoenix . I see the convention center  is available. Possibly at reduced rates even. LOL   ~~~~  Cannonball   Sign - Oops

Sad to say, the Sunset/Texas Eagle does not serve Phoenix any more; Maricopa is the station for Phoenix, and the Amtrak timetable does not indicate any kind of service between the two places. There is Thruway bus service between Flagstaff (stop for the Southwest Chief) and Phoenix. Phoenix is another state capital that has no rail passenger service.

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  I want to again thank each and every one of you for your very kind birthday wishes yesterday.  Yes, I had a very nice birthday!  And although we didn't get to see each other, my twin and I did get to talk over the phone.  So that made it an even better birthday.

We are starting the morning, with a temp of 67 degrees, going for a high of 80 today.  So we should have a very lovely day ahead.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Mudchicken, good news for ya:  the Gatorade delivery is in, so you have plenty of your favorite blue drink on hand!

On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage (and yes, it's pork:  I don't even care about the turkey sausage), buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy and diced fried taters, cantaloupe, kiwi and papaya.

Everyone have a great morning, and Mookie, if you're in, how about some coffee for you, and a sit-down in the rockers?

Ya know, it occurs to me that rockers and cat tails don't generally get along together very well...

Spent Wednesday evening celebrating the grandson's first birthday.  He was his usual charming self (he's incredibly good natured) and enjoyed sharing part of "Papa's" dinner.  He wasn't really impressed with his birthday cake - not into sweet stuff just yet.

He was in his 'Jammies and I was about ready to leave - as I was talking to his parents he started to wave goodbye - which I've come believe was telling me that it was time to go - apparently I'd worn out my welcome...  Blush

His "public" birthday party is in a week or so (on his Mom's birthday, in fact), so I'll get more quality time with him then.

He is a little cutie.  He has a rather impish grin, too.  Makes you wonder what he's thinking...

Morning all.....

Was up early this morning, so sat down and worked on one of my Kato locomotives, WC 6001.  With the exception of some touch up paint, ditch lights, and a DCC decoder with sound, engine is ready for the layout.  Need to get over to parents again to borrow drill press to drill out broken screw on my SD45 so I can reassemble that one, then will have two engines ready to be put into service.  Next up, getting some four axle power ready for use.......

Chilly start here this morning, only about 47, going for a high of 60 today, then maybe not even 50 tomorrow, with rain.  Weekend is supposed to be nice, though.  Will take breakfast, then off to other things.....

....Cannonball......no passenger {thru}, service in Nashville either.  Believe they do have a commuter line running the last several years but that is just for commuting into the city from a couple dozen miles out...I believe that still runs.

On the convention facility complex {part of the hotel}.....It is monsterous in size....and oh so very nice.  We spent quite a bit of time there in the complex before retiring, {long weekends, etc..}, even spending a Christmas there....A beautiful place.  Up to I believe, if I remember correctly, 6 acres under glass...{3 different areas, with hotel rooms {5 stores high}, inside with balconies opening to the glassed in areas with trees, even a water fall, and even a boating route around one of the areas.....Beautiful lobbies, and unequaled displays at Christmas time, both inside and out.....Have watched {in the past}, several TV programs live there while the Ralph Emory program was televised by "The Nashville Network"....Not in existence anymore.

If the flood got to all of the complex, that will cost real money to refurbish that back to what it was....

Good Friday morning, everyone!  We're starting out with a temp of 63 degrees, going to 87 today for a high, before the storms come in somewhere between 6 and 10 p.m.  Guess we'll have an interesting Friday night around the Louisville area.  (Like we need more rain.  We'll probably have to go rent a gas powered mower to get the grass cut; In some places it's about half way to my knees!

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  doughnuts, danish, bagels and bear claws.

Well, today is Sarah's last day in Atlanta.  Guess after class tonight, she'll start packing to come home tomorrow.  The house sure has been quiet this week!  The cats haven't even been romping like they usually do, when she's home.

Everyone have a great morning, and take care.  Mookie, how's about a sit-down out in the garden this morning?  The roses are beginning to bloom, and there's a very nice aroma in the air!

Good morning! It's cold here in South Dakota, and we have a 60% chance of receiving some rain today. Currently our temp here is about 43 degrees and will not get much warmer than that. There is a very good possibility that the northern Black Hills will get some snow, as much as a foot the national weather service has been saying.

My brother Tim had open heart surgery yesterday to clear a blocked artery on the back side of his heart. I assume he came out of the operation O.K. because I've not heard anything from my sisters or his wife at this point.

I hope the rest of you will all have a very good day!

V~V   - I am just not myself lately!  Crabbier than a bear with a sore paw!  This too shall pass!

Million dollar rain overnite.  Gentle and for several hours.  That improves my mood a little.  But at 48 degrees, it is a little chilly this morning.  At least it isn't icy.

Good thoughts for your brother, Ray.  CW - to the porch.  And if anyone strolls in and wants to cook, I think french toast would be good.  Side of bacon and coffee.  Please and thank you.  Shy

Morning all.....

About 45 and wet outside, might hit 50 today, but not holding my breath.  Rain that's here now should be done by noon, we are actually a little dry here, lots of dust being raised by the farmers in the fields.  Mowed lawn for parents yesterday, or as my parents say, 'knocked down the weeds around the house'.  Yard looks a bunch better....

Working on my Kato SD45, got the frame and running gear back together and is being broken in on the test rollers now, shell details are mostly on.  Being as it's not pretty outside, will work on the layout for most of today...

See everyone later...

With several reporting low 40s this morning, I feel rather lucky as my first glance at the instrument earlier, was a reading of 61.  We do have mostly sunny but some wind is stirring.

Potential of "weather" across our northern part of the State this afternoon, but perhaps some can materialize here to.

Got my needed yard mowing {every 3 days}, accomplished yesterday, so rain won't effect that today.

Trivia:  3 days ago, we noted  a Humming Bird at our 3 flower pots on the back patio, and yesterday we had one at out feeder same area with the feeder attached to patio door.  That's almost the same time frame we first noticed them last season.  Always welcome them to come back.  Have had feeder up now since about the first of the month.

Afternoon, all.  Quentin, sounds like you and Jean are really enjoying watching your humming birds!

We have reached 80 degrees here in Louisville, and it's very breezy out and mostly cloudy.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now on the serving station:  all the regular kinds of fish, and our regular menu of side dishes are there also.  Including the regular list of desserts.

I talked with my uncle in Tennessee last night (he lives in Big Sandy, TN), and he said that the creek behind his property took care of the rain, so he wasn't having to deal with flooding concerns.  He is the only uncle I have left (my mother's brother), and there are no aunts or uncles left on Daddy's side.  Hopefully, he'll make it to his next birthday in August, when he'll be 86 years young, and is fighting colon cancer.

Everyone enjoy your lunch and afternoon.  Mookie, hope you've warmed up some this afternoon.

Afternoon all!

What a nice day it is today. I believe we are sitting at around 69*F right now. Looks like some rain will be moving in a little later this evening.

Have a good evening all.

Today was the last day of my freshman year of college! Straight A's, except for Calculus 2, but I'm happy to have just passed that class. I'll probably be bored by the end of the weekend! Big Smile

Its a bone chilling 91 degrees here in Alamo City.

And a whole 53F here in the north woods.  It's raining right now, and they promise that this cold front will drag in some high winds - as much as 60mph - tomorrow.

I see that Joe is under a tornado watch right now, and Detroit looks like it's getting hammered.  Makes our prospects for the overnight and tomorrow even more interesting...

Willy - Congrats on year one.  Hopefully you can finish up in four, unlike my daughter, to took six years (including two changes of major and two changes of school) to finish her degree.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  We currently have a temp of 51 degrees, will be mostly sunny today, with a high of 61, maybe 62 degrees.  Time to go back into sweat pants for the next couple of days!

Willy, congrats for getting through your first year of college!  May you continue to do as well. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:

Turkey bacon, sausage (links & patties), fried taters, scrambled eggs, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels, bear claws,  various fruits (apples, bananas, grapefruit, oranges, grapes, kiwi), pancakes, waffles, grits, toast.

Everyone have a great day, and Joe, may you be back in here after the weekend!!!!!

Now that breakfast is out of the way I can get down to my chores for the day, and hang on to my hat for the wind they've forecast.

With any luck, there won't be any wires blown down (or carried down by trees) and I'll be able to stay home.

All present and accounted for.Last night they announced a tornado warning for southeastern defiance county. After the warning expired I went to my sisters house to check on it.They had downed branches and some downed power lines down the road. They also had a yard full of marble sized hail.Over in Henry county there were reports of tennis ball size hail.Everything and everyone at the railroad park was okay.Today if the temprature was any colder the rain could be snow and they are calling for frost overnight.Cw will take some pizza for tonight.back to the projects at hand.Happy Mothers day to all the mom's tomorrow.

stay safe

Greedings! 91 and clear at present. I shall enjoy the supper tonight. I am scheduled for some tests Monday and can't eat anything after midnight, which for a hungry guy like me is a real bummer.

There are reports that Beaufort County, SC is considering rehabbing the line between Beaufort and Yemassee (25+/- miles) for use as a tourist/scenic railroad and asking for estimates. Just in case, they are also taking bids from salvage companies to see what the scrap value is. We shall see how this turns out.

Everyone take care

Welcome back to the fold, Joe!

Speaking of being back, Sarah got home about 45 minutes ago!

Here's our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Cheese

2.  Chicago style

3.  Goetta

4.  Hawaiian

5.  Pepperoni/mushroom

6.  Pepperoni/sausage/onion

7.  Supreme

Since not very many people have been coming in lately, I've only made two extra large of each of the pizzas.  Hope you all enjoy, and have a very good evening!
