Eleanor could also ride in a nice air conditioned Parlor car.

Perhaps a nice car like this:  http://www.whippanyrailwaymuseum.net/eq_jerseycoast.html

The summers in the mid 1930's were scorching hot. A lot of the Great Plains took to the air. Eleanor could see the dust clouds go by on the East Coast.

Was this global warming caused by coal burning steam locomotives?

Modelcar

I've been running A/C more this season in both the house and whatever vehicle I'm driving, than I've done for some years past....

Generally, I just use the A/C in a vehicle spoty when I'm just driving somewhere locally, but this season, it's just let the controls set where they are for each run.....Windows up.  Sun roof closed.

Down here in South Texas we have two seasons:  Summer and January.  Cool

It's nice here for the most part, but when I was working on the RR last week I fired up the furnace in the camp car in which I was staying overnight...

I would not draw any religious conclusions about the hot weather.  This summer is just making up for last summer.  I never turned the air conditioning on last summer.  I never turn it off this summer.

Did any of the Hill lines offer lutefisk on their dinning car menu?

Only durring the Christmas season.

If Franklin were still alive, would he still be President? If so, would the railroads have been nationalized long ago?

If Eleanor were alive today, would she be amused?

Would she ever! Tongue  If she were alive today, she'd be 125 years old.  When I'm 125,  I'm going to be amused every day I wake up! Approve

Eleanor and Franklin had no time for Huey Long. Huey was thinking of running for President, but a bullet ended all that.

The City of New Orleans owns the Huey P. Long bridge. The City of New Orleans and their railroad on the bridge have been in the news for corruption.

If Eleanor were alive today, would she be amused?

Nothing. And I do mean nothing, can kill the taste of Lutefisk.  Not even Cluny.

Ye of little faith.  Siphoning gas always kills the taste of lutefisk.

After a snort of Cluny, you wish you had gasoline.

Cherry herring kills the taste of lutefisk. Lots of cherry herring makes anything taste good.

Where's Bergie when you need him?

What was that drink he was speaking of--- looked like water, went down like gasoline, then left your head feeling like it was ground zero for a 'MOAB' . Silvovitz.    IIRC. Evil    I think that is what they used to kill the taste of lutefisk.

Would BNSF find a market transporting Illinois Whitefish to Norwegian bachelor farmers on the Northern Plains? Ship in July. Deliver in December. Add in a derailment salvage with Ivory Snowflakes.

Would a Lutheran Bishop be able to tell the difference?

If Illinois Whitefish in transit suffers a refer breakdown, or gets lost for a few weeks, would anybody know the difference?

  Lutefisk anyone? Mischief

The National Recovery Act (N. R. A.) was derailed as excessive over the selling of a chicken. It probably made Eleanor unhappy as a result.

Do Illinois Whitefish have a role to play in our current economic recovery?

Market Illinois Whitefish nationally. The latest carp can fly, but not that far. Ship by rail!

Slight failure is an option.

In response to a private message:

Sir: Your post once again proves you are a very very sick man, and should see the help of a professional.

I respond that today,  I have secured the services of Doowhee, Cheatem, and Howe LPC.   After many long distance calls, they have finally come to a conclusion, while there is hope for me, no one locally has that expertise.   Lucky for me however, the Mayo Clinic is less than 90 miles away.   Sparing no  expense, they found the same doctor working at Mayo  that helped Dick Martin,  Arte Johnson, Don Adams, Richard Pryor, Shemp Howard, Chico Marx, and Zippy the Wonder Illama.

OK! Murphy!   It's Friday afternoon and the heat is getting to me....Confused

Here are a couple of videos that anyone who has flown can appreciate, I'm reminded of the green tuna salad sandwich served to my daughter between Orlando and Memphis on a Northwest flight...Now part of Delta:

The first is a song about Airline Food:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x45SLNA6gE&feature=related

This one I've shared with PDN, but I think it is too funny not to pass around;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG5_-8UekZs&feature=related

This one is a version of' Darkness on the Delta' -a barbershop quartet favorite- and the group is called Chordiac Arrest , and they call their version, " Darkness on Delta 502".

Murray

That singing group I heard last night was really good too.

Four fellers:

First tuna, second tuna, baracuda and bass....

Remember- you can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.

I hate to be the one to CARPGrumpy

BUT! THis whole thread is becomoing a load of Carp  .  Even if the folks along the Illinois River are collecting Carp by the ton to send to Asia.

Do Mexicans eat carp? Dinner   Might be a whole new product to ship South or eat in.   Asian Carp wrapped in Corn meal tortillas, will save the economy, and we'll ship old Chevrolets with their trunks filled with cornmeal tortilla wrapped carp-- Sort of a Government supplied buritlo--Wait! Wait! Don't Californians eat Fish Tacos in cornmeal shells?Dinner

I can see it now!  Unit Trains of Cornmeal dipped Carp wrapped in cornmeal tortillas and  packed in old Chevrolets... Captain

I think I've just saved the economy for Government Motors, California and the BNSF and UP in the bargain.. And found a couple of new exports   Whistling

So much for the predictions of a 3% growth in the GDP!Pirate

Well! TONTO! OUR WORK IS DONE HERE!  HI! HO! SILVER! AWAY!   Cowboy   'Mon , SCOUT! Mischief
