HAPPY BIRTHDAY Larry, Hope Hope it's a Really Good One!!  Happy B-Day

Seems in about three weeks, I'll be seeing those same numbers, maybe that's why the words to a Simon & Garfunkel song have been going through my head recently.

(59th St. Bridge song....."Slow down you move too fast..Got to make the morning last; just kicking down the cobblestones, looking for fun and Feelin Groovy")

Thank y'all very much (that time I spent in OK showing through).

Just popping in for lunch.  Finished the fourth grade fire prevention presentations, now it's back for the fifth graders.

Then I hit the road for a quick visit with grandson before I head to the conference.

Mutt - what's that song again?   (Like I don't have it memorized myself - S&G are a favorite of mine.)

Happy Birthday, Larry! Happy B-Day

Another cold and gray day here. Why am I not surprised?

Over fall break my parents and I are going to Branson, MO for a little vacation. Forecasts for Branson on the days we'll be there call for sunny conditions and highs in the upper 60s. That will be nice after being stuck in the freezer here for weeks on end.

Afternoon all.

Well, I think my friends were just joshing me about the snow. It is still cold as could be here. Oh well 70's next week.

Me and my dad have sold $600 worth of BSA popcorn. That is enough for a 1 way Amtrak trip to Denver! I will have to keep up the selling.

You all have a good day/evening!

Larry, It's "The 59th Street Bridge Song" (Feelin' Groovy) originally recorded on their "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme" album and also appears on "The Concert in Central Park" CD.

Tom, Harper's Bazzar may have done it, but I'm much more familiar with the S & G version.

(especially since I have the S & G album from 196-? and the CD from 1982)

Larry, hope you and everyone else enjoyed the beef sandwiches (roast, steak) and the fries, along with the apple pies and ice cream.  (I made eight pies last night, and baked four of them this morning.

And I've just got more of everything on the warmer bar for tonight.

It's been a very busy day for me, between my baking and cooking here in the Cafe/Diner, and washing up winter jackets here at home.  Haven't touched the heavier weight coats yet.  Hopefully, I won't have to fool with them for at least a couple of weeks yet.

Everyone enjoy your supper, have a good evening and take care.

CW, Thank you for supper!

Larry, I’m sorry I didn’t wish you a happy birthday earlier. I was at school when I posted that. So…Happy B-Day

Just got done with TRAINZ06’. I had 3 SD70’s with a Alumina ore train that was over 5,000ft. long. Not quite a SD70(M), but it worked.

Have a good evening. See you all later.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Joe, thanks so very much for the fine breakfast this morning.  I am moving very slowly this morning.  Current temp is about 41 degrees, and our high today may make it up to 47, possibly 48 degrees, but it'll be mostly cloudy, with some off and on drizzle.

Sarah and I went to her favorite pizza place last night, and while we were waiting, we played a game of pool.  That's the first time in 20 years that I've hada pool cue in my hands.

It was fun, but my back is telling me all about it this morning.  All that bending, and twisting has my back sore and achy this morning.  I'm not that good playing pool (need a shorter cue stick, for one thing), and definitely need more practice.  It was close to 10:00 when we got home.

Everyone have a good day, be careful with whatever you have planned for the day, and be sure to come back in tonight for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.

......Boy.....playing pool.....Haven't done that in decades.  {late 40's and early 50's}, In our small home town back in Pa., we had a pool room in our {20's and 30's}, famous Hite House, and our group of young fellows played a lot of pool.....and yes, that was fun.   Some days, could just do so...so, and at times it seems it all came together with running the balls pretty good.  A fun time.

Bright sunshine here this morning and also a pretty good frost.....34 was what I saw on the instrument about 8 am.  {coldest morning this season}, Tomorrow it should start warming  a bit and continue into the new week.

Everyone enjoy the sunny weekend.

I’m not sure if it is 42 years (five-year reunion) or 47 ½ years since I played pool. Maybe I’d better not even think of it is a 20 year lapse produces such results.Smile

We are having a warm spell (daytime temperatures in the sixties), and expect more rain about Tuesday.

Yeah, playing pool again was fun.  The thing now, is to go find a cue stick to fit my small hands and stature.

Ryan, thanks for the recipe.  I may have to try that recipe out in here, and see how well everyone likes it.  Sounds pretty good to me.

Here's our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu for tonight:

1.  Canadian bacon; 2.  Cheese w/extra cheese; 3.  Pepperoni/mushroom; 4.  Goetta; 5.  Hawaiian; 6.  Supreme; 7.  Italian Sausage calzones.

And for dessert, there's plenty of apple pie left from Larry's birthday yesterday.  Or, if you all wish, we could pop popcorn later on, and have popcorn w/hot apple cider, or maybe some chocolate milk.

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Nice and cold here in Louisville, with a current temp of 35 degrees.  But we're supposed to get up into the mid 50s by this afternoon.  We'll see.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot water for tea are ready.  On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns or tater tots, oatmeal, grits, toast and several different flavors of muffins.

How does roast, taters & carrots sound for your Sunday Dinner today?  That's what we'll be having here in Louisville, and I thought I'd make it for in here also, if everyone agrees to having that.  Or, let me know what you would like to have, and I'll fix that for the Cafe/Diner.

Everyone have a good morning, be safe and take care, on whatever outings you have this morning, whether it's going to work, Church, train watching, etc.

Peace be with you! It was 41 degrees earlier in Carolina. Right now, it is 49 and the sun is shining in my window. I turned the heat on yesterday and it wouldn't come on. Wunnerful wunnerful! Managed to convince it otherwise and now we are snug as a bug in a rug. Wonder who coined that gem.... Anyway, we are set for winter now and looking forward to it.  Everyone take care and stay warm.

Okay, which one of you thought it was funny to turn on the snow machine in central PA Thursday?!?  I'm not ready for that stuff yet, Almost had an ice mix on top of Sandstone Mountain in West Virginia yesterday, as well.....

Anyway, about 50 degrees or so here in Effingham, IL, so got the truck washed this morning, and cleaned the inside. (note to self, clean more often, so towels don't turn black)  Camping out here for rest of weekend, then a short hop to St Elmo, IL to unload tomorrow.

Speaking of the snow machine,

The clouds here in Western Indiana these past few days have looked mighty similar to snow clouds. But, 70’s next week, so I will have to wait a little longer for the white stuff.

Back from church and lunch. Took the back way home, and saw no rail action on the NS. Just the glowing red signals in the vicinity of Attica that dispatcher 13 always leaves on. Have a youth outing today. Will see you all later.

Sunday Dinner is ready, and on the warmer bar.  There's plenty of roast beef, taters, carrots, and to go with it:  green beans, corn, garden salad, and you have your choice of homemade-fresh-from-the-oven buttermilk biscuits or baked cornbead.

Randy, it's good to know you made it safely, without too much trouble.

Has anyone heard anything from Adrian?  I know they're extremely busy over there in the Persian Gulf, and, even though I don't have any children, I worry about all those young men & women fighting over there, and other places where our military people are in harm's way (and the American contractors who are still over there, also).

I hope everyone is enjoying their day, and you all have a good afternoon.  Stay warm!

Cannonball, the Belle is still afloat, but probably out of service for the rest of the season. After the "accident", they cancelled today's cruise, and said she'd probably stay docked until next May. There were several injuries, all seemed to be minor; now damage to the boat; gonna need Several New Boards on the Sternwheel, not known right now about any other damage. The only thing coming out right now in the preliminary reports is that there were gusts of wind up to about 30mph while she was trying to make the turn; now whether or not she was just too close..........?  The Belle's Captain was at the wheel, bunch of years experience with the boat, and on the river.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  Well, I'm glad that three people were in here last night, at least the roast, etc., didn't go to waste and have to be thrown out this morning.

We have a current temp of 35 degrees here in Louisville this morning, with some more patchy frost this morning.  Should become a sunny day, with a high of 65 this afternoon, and into the 70s tomorrow (Tuesday).

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready to go.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, oatmeal, toast, and various fresh fruits.

You all enjoy your breakfast, have a good morning, and take care.
