.....Headphones..... is that a advertisement with the soundtrack of Jingle Bells...? I thought I just helped my family carve pumpkins?Confused

That muffled "whoosh" you hear the evening of October 31 isn't all of the ghosts, witches, and hobgoblins leaving - it's the sound of the Halloween decorations being replaced by Christmas decorations in stores and malls across the land....

What? The stores here have had their Christmas junk out for more than 2 weeks already.Disapprove

Good one Larry!Laugh

Here in the vicinity of Lafayette IN. Wall Mart has had the Christmas Décor out for about 4 weeks…. Not kidding either. Will be expecting the musical accompaniment here soon.Disapprove

Rain here in W. Indiana. Still, farmers are out cutting beans, and shelling corn.

Have a good evening.

 Evening all!!!

How time has flown by! I hardly have time to get on the computer anymore!  I hope everyone is doing well!!

Been snowy then back to warm here. Now we are having some nice fall weather. Last weekend we had a chance to go down to an amusement park in Utah. It was so much fun! I really hated leaving.

Also, I know it has been 3 weeks, but I thought I would show you a photo.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  RJ, that's a mighty fine photo there, with a very nice looking couple!

It's rainy here in Louisville this morning, with a current temp of 59 degrees.  High today will be in the mid to upper 60s (if I heard correctly).

Coffee, hot tea, juices and other morning beverages are ready, and on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning, is our regular bagels, bear claws and a wide assortment of doughnuts (including the chocolate covered longjohns, both cream filled and vanilla filled) and an assortment of fruit danish.

You all have a nice morning, and take care, everyone.  BTW Mookie, I hear your hammock calling you.  Say's it is missing you.Smile

Good morning, and thanks for breakfast. At present, 64 degrees and mostly cloudy in Carolina. I managed to work on some of my coins yesterday and kept meself busy and out of trouble. There was little on the wireless to attract my attention. 4 hams were killed in an SC plane crash wednesday on their way to the Bahamas for an international radio contest this weekend, so there is a damper on this weekends activities. I didn't know any of them, but they were well liked. Paula, could you fix some fudgecake today with a lot of fudge?? Thanks. Have a great day and a greater weekend.

Cloudy and mild with a touch of light rain right now....but, our rain gauge has 2" in it from overnight....!  Didn't hear very much of that during the night.  Thought the sound I did hear was a bit of wind blowing, but guess it was a steady rain...and quite a bit of it by this morning.  Brought down quite a bit of the colored leaves....Now hope it dries soon so I can run over the yard and mulch and mow.  Catching them every so often keeps the leaf situation under pretty good control.  If I can do that, it may only require a few bags to be filled...

Thanks for breakfast CW, and a good day to all.

RJ - sniff...I know!  Use a tissue - but I always cry at weddings!

What a nice picture Blush

Congratulations to you and your new bride.  What is her first name?  And does she know anything about trains or do we have to "edumacate" her?

CW - have a yellow lawn, drive, backyard, parking lot, roof, on and on.  Have a good stiff north wind, but the leaves are still so wet, they won't blow away.  Going to move the hammock to a sunny spot.  Kind of missing the sun for about 4-5 days now.

Looks like it'll be a wet evening here.  Hopefully things will clear up a bit tomorrow - we'll be drilling/training outside with the fire department and we'd like to use some electric tools...

RJ - Congrats to you and your bride.

Off to other pursuits...

Evening all.

Wet… is the word to describe Indiana today. This morning I thought I herd the weather man say that I-465 around Indy had 4 feet of water on it, and it was closed. Maybe I misunderstood though.

School went well. Done with the “Acuity Test” It’s a test that you take on a PC, and you must answer a series of multiple choice questions. At the end it spits out a bunch of info. Unfortunately, I didn’t do very well.

Have a good evening.

Good evening, everyone.  It's been a busy day for me:  had to leave the house this morning, to attend a meeting.  Didn't get back home until about 2 p.m.  Then, it was nap time, I was so tired and worn out, and my left knee was really hurting.

Tom, I like your idea for fudge cake.  Baked several after I got home, so that is dessert tonight after you eat your supper!  And, that goes for all of us chocoholics here, myself included!

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way.  There's all kinds of fish, hush puppies, fries, baked beans, corn on the cob, cornbread, greens, mac & cheese, breaded fried mushrooms, cole slaw, garden salad, all ready and waiting for you all.

Everyone enjoy, have a good evening, and see you all later.

Thanks for the fudgecake, Paula. I used to get fudgecake from a local restaurant where they knew me. The waitress, Sandy, would load it down with fudge and bring a large spoon, which she called a shovel! I still see Sandy from time to time, and we joke about the shovel. Rain in Carolina at present, supposed to last through the night, at least. Paula, my knee is hurting, as well as my shoulder. I think this weather has something to do with it. Have a great night.

You remind me of the student who waited the table at which I (and others who appreciated her service) sat my first two years in college. She saw to it that her two tables were well supplied--and she apparently liked to see me eat, for even before I had finished the small dish of dessert at dinner, she would bring me a soup bowl full of the dessert, whatever it was. One night, she asked me if my father had been a millionaire. At the time, I was working twelve hours a week on the Building and Ground Crew.

Our morning here has overcast skies and mid 40's starting out....Probably won't get much above 50's today.  Looks like we might have several nice days upcoming in the new week.

We have had sunshine short periods of time later this morning.

JoeKoh
good day for chili or some ham and bean soup for lunch

Joe, thanks for the suggestion.  Both chili and bean soup w/ham are just about ready.  Both are on the stove top, cooking/simmering, so will be ready whenever you all are ready for them.  And there's plenty of cornbread to have with the bean soup.  And Joe, I'll look forward to your help with the pizza making a little bit later this afternoon.

For some reason, I could not get anything I wrote this morning, to post.  Kept getting "Not Responding".  Maybe Mozilla Firefox is having technical difficulties today?  I'm now typing on IE, and so far, no problems, except for IE's usual slowness.

Our temp was 49 degrees this morning, when I awoke at 6:01 a.m.  Now, it's about 48, 49 degrees still, and our projected high today is about 52, 53 degrees.  Mostly cloudy right now, but supposed to see some sunshine.  We'll see about that.  Haven't seen any sunshine yet.

You all take care, and I'll see you all later.

Good afternoon. I woke up late, but here I am, and thanks for lunch. Paula, Explorer was acting up some last night. I don't know how that would affect you, but maybe. Won't be in this evening. This is BBQ ribs and seafood night. Joe, I too have no need of a costume... Justin, enjoy your new track. I wish I had room for a nice layout. I have several Atlantic Coast Line Engines and lots of rolling stock, but nowhere to set it up. Everyone take care and stay warm.

Well - an inch and an eighth of rain overnight, but it quit in time for our fire department drill this morning.

Two cars are now convertibles, with easy access (no doors).  Everybody learned something, and a few got to do skills they normally don't get to experience.

Now I've got to do the certificates.

Off to town.

Thanks, Joe, and I've got the rest of the pizzas made, and the last ones are coming out of the oven, slicing them to put on the warmer bar.

And there's more fudge cake for dessert, along with apple, cherry, and peach cobblers, along with ice cream, if anyone wants their cobbler ala mode.

Tom, most of our problems have been with Firefox, although we've had a little bit of trouble with IE also.

Everyone enjoy the pizzas and desserts, and have a good evening.

Peace be with you! We just got home from the BBQ place, where we enjoyed BBQ (honey) pork ribs, macaroni, fried clams and shrimp along with peach cobbler a la mode and a flagon of sweet tea! It don't get no better than that!!! It's amazing how much BBQ varies from one restaurant to another just a few miles away. I feel fortunate that the stuff here is the kind I like and not soaked in vinegar. Nuff sed. See yalls for breakfast

Tom - You need to pay a visit to either Syracuse or Rochester and enjoy some "Dinosaur Barbeque."  It's not dinosaur....  But it is very good.

As a bonus, the Rochester location is in the old Lehigh Valley Railroad station, next to the Genesee River.  Ate there last weekend.  The Syracuse location is downtown.

It was, and still is, a biker place - but lots of other people have discovered it, too...

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Chilly morning here, with a temp of about 44, 45 degrees.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are ready, including hot water for hot tea.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, cinnamon rolls and a variety of doughnuts, along with some caramel pecan rolls.

You all enjoy, have a good morning, and if anyone has any Sunday Dinner suggestions, please get them in to me, o.k?

Good morning and thanks for breakfast. Larry, I will try anyone's BBQ at least once, but reserve the right not to taste it twice. There is such a variety around here, mostly vinegar based, that I can't imagine how another regions food might taste, but I'm game for at least once. For the record, I do not care for vinegar based BBQ, and much prefer the honey based sauces. I also love the gemuetlichkeit that can be found at places like that, and here at the diner.

Paula, how about some thick beef stew with small potatoes over rice, macaroni and chocolate icebox pie for dessert? Thanks

......I'll pass on almost anything that contains a lot of vinegar....Ugh.

Sunday morning temps around the 40 mark here....So far, we've seen beautiful colors on the leaves from the low rising sun, and some overcast skies.  The day is to be dry, so hope that is really the way it goes.

Some leaves [from neighbors}, mine are evergreens, down in my yard and I need it dry {maybe tomorrow}, to work on them and the grass with my mulching tractor / mower.  If I can keep after them as they fall, I reduce the amount of bags to be filled.  That, I'm not into as much as in the past....seems  a bit more difficult.  Even with the leaf blower to gather them together.  But....it's not as bad as it used to be....my western neighbor has had some big ones cut down in the last few years...That has helped.\

We're to have days this week in the 60's for highs....so that sound pretty good.

Tom - If you ever find your way to Branson, Missouri, eat at Danna's BBQ. We make a point of eating there at least once each time we visit Branson. They've even got a nice website where you can check out the menu, etc.

http://dannasbbq.com/

This week in Omaha will feature more unpleasant weather. We've got some sun for today, Monday, and Tuesday, but highs only in the 50s. Then it looks like rain or snow and highs in the 40s for the rest of the week. I could really use some 80s right about now.

Willy: The return home from CA to snow this afternoon is a little unwanted. Would prefer to see snow AFTER the plane gets on the runway in Denver.

Will be happy to get back into the family dog hauler and away from the rental car. If you are over 5'-6" do NOT rent or buy a Chevy Malibu unless you are a contortionist or are into torture getting into or out out of the thing.
