Peace be with you. To my knowledge, it never has rained, although we have had very heavy dark cloud cover all day. Tonight, there is supposed to be a break into partly clear skies. Thanks for supper, CW, and everyone have a great evening.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Thanks PV, I'll be sure and put a pot of water on to heat, and let it get the kitchen all steamy, and stick my head over the pot (I'll make sure I'm standing on a stool, so I don't get burned, though).
I've replenished the sloppy joes, etc., on the warmer bar for supper. And Joe, there's a few containers ready for you to take to work tonight. And if Lance is around, there's the same for you in the fridge. Anyone else need a to-go container(s) for work tonight (not sure if we have anyone else here who works night shift)?
cherokee woman Anyone here have any natural home remedies for a cold? Not running a temp, but I sure am sneezing, with a stuffed up head and nose. yuck, yuck, yuck.

Many years ago I read an article in the local paper in which the author stated that the Rhinoviruses that are responsible for colds are very fragile and are sensitive to temperature. He said that raising the temperature of your nose and throat like your body naturally does when you get a fever will kill them. He suggested a sauna or inhaling steam from a pot of boiling water at the first sign of a cold. On the other hand,it won't help a bit if it is an alergic reaction.
I am not a doctor and am not advising anyone to do it, but it has worked pretty well for me for years now.

Well, first day back to school after fall break. Kind of sad how quickly nine days with no obligations can go by. At least it's a nice day. We have more rain in the forecast for the middle week, which I imagine will drive the farmers crazy. Due to the damp weather we've had this month, they're having a tough time with harvest.
I've got quite the shift at Arby's next Saturday... 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. I'm used to my typical Friday Night and Saturday Night 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM shift, so this new twist is going to be difficult to handle. And while I'm preaching about my job, remember that Arby's has 5 regular roast beef sandwiches for $5 on Saturdays and Sundays during football season. We also just got our mint chocolate swirl shake back. There, my manager would be proud of me!

Waiting for my ride to the Finger Lakes to check out a new ambulance station. We need to build one and we're seeing what others have so we can come up with a design that works for us.
Bedtime last night go delayed by an illness call, and my alarm clock was replaced by the fire siren for a lad who said he fell asleep, resulting in his mini-van rolling over several times. Note: never tell the police you fell asleep. Tell them you swerved to miss a deer.... (or whatever wildlife is appropriate).
Lacking certain of my beauty sleep, I decided to blow off work today, too....

Good afternoon everyone. Looks like it's been a little bit on the slow side in here this morning. So, I've just gotten through making a "light" menu for lunch: sloppy joe sandwiches w/your choice of fries or steak fries, garden salad or cole slaw; and, tuna melt hoagies or roast beef hoagies
Haven't been outside, except to take the Win the doggie out, but the sunshine looks very nice. Reported our projected high wrong this morning: we're supposed to make it up to 68 degrees this afternoon.
Everyone enjoy your lunch ,and if there's something different you all would like for supper, just let me know and I'll fix that for tonight. You all have a good afternoon and take care.
.....Nothing but sunshine and clear blue skies this morning. Beautiful sunlight shining on golden leaves. And speaking of leaves, I will be able to get with it today....After the grass and leaves with tractor / mower. Lower 50's right now, but to get much warmer later.
A beautiful Monday morning....
Quentin
Good morning. CW, I'm glad you are on the mend and feeling better, and thanks for breakfast. Jason, I'm sure there must be a model rr club somewhere locally, but I am not able to go out that much even if I could find one. Currently, 51 degrees and seriously overcast in Carolina, looking for heavy rain any minute. Everybody take care and stay safe.
good morning
matts on time and on the bus.Cw thanks for breakfast.Time to get a nap in.This afternoon going to work on clearing some leaves before the next batch of rain comes in.
Joe
Good Monday morning, everyone. Joe, I feel a tad bit better this morning. But, still stuffed up, and, so far, no more sneezing! Our weather isn't too bad this morning: current temp of 45 degrees, going for a high of about 64 this afternoon, and a mostly sunny day. Rain showers coming in sometime late tonight, tomorrow.
Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider, hot water for our tea drinkers are all fresh, and ready for you all.
On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning: the usual bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns (home made), homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, or there's toast w/jelly (grape, mixed fruit, strawberry, etc.) (Can you tell I woke up hungry this morning?)
Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a very good morning, and you all take care. See you all later, and if anyone has any requests for today, just let me know.
paula hope you are feeling better soon.Matt had a sunday school dinner after church today.Time for us to get ready for work tonight.Monday will be ok but they are calling for more rain this week.
grampaw pettibonePaula, how about some thick beef stew with small potatoes over rice, macaroni and chocolate icebox pie for dessert? Thanks
Tom, I like your suggestions for our Sunday Dinner. So we have thick beef stew, cornbread, small potatoes over rice, macaroni and for dessert, the chocolate icebox pie. Everything is ready, and on the warmer bar: except for the icebox pies, and they're in the pie cooler.
Everyone enjoy your dinner, have a good afternoon, and take care.
Afternoon,
Got some track yesterday. Flex Track to be exact. Te he. I rhyme! Also got some roadbed to put down under it.
TOM, I’m sorry you don’t have anywhere to run your fine looking locomotives, and consists. Could you join a model railroad club?
Have a good evening. I’m getting my pictures done this afternoon, so we will see how that goes.
Justin

I would be remiss if I did not throw a plug at one of the best BBQ places here in Texas....Rudy's!

Also, believe it or not, Montreal has a really good BBQ place..the Bar-B-Barn.

Willy: The return home from CA to snow this afternoon is a little unwanted. Would prefer to see snow AFTER the plane gets on the runway in Denver.
Will be happy to get back into the family dog hauler and away from the rental car. If you are over 5'-6" do NOT rent or buy a Chevy Malibu unless you are a contortionist or are into torture getting into or out out of the thing.
Tom - If you ever find your way to Branson, Missouri, eat at Danna's BBQ. We make a point of eating there at least once each time we visit Branson. They've even got a nice website where you can check out the menu, etc.

This week in Omaha will feature more unpleasant weather. We've got some sun for today, Monday, and Tuesday, but highs only in the 50s. Then it looks like rain or snow and highs in the 40s for the rest of the week. I could really use some 80s right about now.
......I'll pass on almost anything that contains a lot of vinegar....Ugh.
Sunday morning temps around the 40 mark here....So far, we've seen beautiful colors on the leaves from the low rising sun, and some overcast skies. The day is to be dry, so hope that is really the way it goes.
Some leaves [from neighbors}, mine are evergreens, down in my yard and I need it dry {maybe tomorrow}, to work on them and the grass with my mulching tractor / mower. If I can keep after them as they fall, I reduce the amount of bags to be filled. That, I'm not into as much as in the past....seems a bit more difficult. Even with the leaf blower to gather them together. But....it's not as bad as it used to be....my western neighbor has had some big ones cut down in the last few years...That has helped.\
We're to have days this week in the 60's for highs....so that sound pretty good.
Good morning and thanks for breakfast. Larry, I will try anyone's BBQ at least once, but reserve the right not to taste it twice. There is such a variety around here, mostly vinegar based, that I can't imagine how another regions food might taste, but I'm game for at least once. For the record, I do not care for vinegar based BBQ, and much prefer the honey based sauces. I also love the gemuetlichkeit that can be found at places like that, and here at the diner.
Paula, how about some thick beef stew with small potatoes over rice, macaroni and chocolate icebox pie for dessert? Thanks
Good Sunday morning, everyone. Chilly morning here, with a temp of about 44, 45 degrees.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are ready, including hot water for hot tea. On the warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, cinnamon rolls and a variety of doughnuts, along with some caramel pecan rolls.
You all enjoy, have a good morning, and if anyone has any Sunday Dinner suggestions, please get them in to me, o.k?
Tom - You need to pay a visit to either Syracuse or Rochester and enjoy some "Dinosaur Barbeque." It's not dinosaur.... But it is very good.
As a bonus, the Rochester location is in the old Lehigh Valley Railroad station, next to the Genesee River. Ate there last weekend. The Syracuse location is downtown.
It was, and still is, a biker place - but lots of other people have discovered it, too...
Peace be with you! We just got home from the BBQ place, where we enjoyed BBQ (honey) pork ribs, macaroni, fried clams and shrimp along with peach cobbler a la mode and a flagon of sweet tea! It don't get no better than that!!! It's amazing how much BBQ varies from one restaurant to another just a few miles away. I feel fortunate that the stuff here is the kind I like and not soaked in vinegar. Nuff sed. See yalls for breakfast
Thanks, Joe, and I've got the rest of the pizzas made, and the last ones are coming out of the oven, slicing them to put on the warmer bar.
And there's more fudge cake for dessert, along with apple, cherry, and peach cobblers, along with ice cream, if anyone wants their cobbler ala mode.
Tom, most of our problems have been with Firefox, although we've had a little bit of trouble with IE also.
Everyone enjoy the pizzas and desserts, and have a good evening.
Well we have had sun and we have had rain today.Cw I have started some of the pizzas for tonight.Matt wanted his mushroom pizza.Going to go help mamma with some chores.
Well - an inch and an eighth of rain overnight, but it quit in time for our fire department drill this morning.
Two cars are now convertibles, with easy access (no doors). Everybody learned something, and a few got to do skills they normally don't get to experience.
Now I've got to do the certificates.
Off to town.
Good afternoon. I woke up late, but here I am, and thanks for lunch. Paula, Explorer was acting up some last night. I don't know how that would affect you, but maybe. Won't be in this evening. This is BBQ ribs and seafood night. Joe, I too have no need of a costume... Justin, enjoy your new track. I wish I had room for a nice layout. I have several Atlantic Coast Line Engines and lots of rolling stock, but nowhere to set it up. Everyone take care and stay warm.
JoeKohgood day for chili or some ham and bean soup for lunch
Joe, thanks for the suggestion. Both chili and bean soup w/ham are just about ready. Both are on the stove top, cooking/simmering, so will be ready whenever you all are ready for them. And there's plenty of cornbread to have with the bean soup. And Joe, I'll look forward to your help with the pizza making a little bit later this afternoon.
For some reason, I could not get anything I wrote this morning, to post. Kept getting "Not Responding". Maybe Mozilla Firefox is having technical difficulties today? I'm now typing on IE, and so far, no problems, except for IE's usual slowness.
Our temp was 49 degrees this morning, when I awoke at 6:01 a.m. Now, it's about 48, 49 degrees still, and our projected high today is about 52, 53 degrees. Mostly cloudy right now, but supposed to see some sunshine. We'll see about that. Haven't seen any sunshine yet.
You all take care, and I'll see you all later.
Our morning here has overcast skies and mid 40's starting out....Probably won't get much above 50's today. Looks like we might have several nice days upcoming in the new week.
We have had sunshine short periods of time later this morning.
morning
damp and cloudy outside.matt got his halloween costume last night.I still have mine on from last year.good day for chili or some ham and bean soup for lunch.will help make some pizza for later tonight.
