10-4 Joe.....that sounds better. Takes a pretty good freeze to do damage to a cooling system in an auto with plain water for coolant.
But I believe wherever a driver lives with modern autos, 50% coolant mix is still recommended. Protects from premature boiling and loss of coolant. And of course freezing protection.

Imagine how the fellow driving it must have felt....
Well, I've made it back in. Sorry about there not being a lunch menu. But maybe we'll try something new for awhile, and see how it works out. I'll only be in twice a day, and will only post two meals a day: breakfast and supper/dinner.
For tonight's menu, you'll have two options:
1. Fried chicken w/mashed taters, milk gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, green beans, corn and fresh garden salad or cole slaw.
2. Italian spaghetti w/your choice of garlic bread, Italian bread, or garlic Texas toast, and fresh garden salad.
Everyone enjoy your supper, have a good evening, and you all take care.
CW, thanks for the fried chicken!
Well, I’m doing a report on 2 careers I’d be interested in when I grow up. I bet you can’t guess what I’m doing one on……. Anyhow, I was wondering if any of you could find anything for me in the way of articles written by an actual locomotive engineer. I have done 1 hour and 55 min. of looking now. I will still continue to look, but If any of you have time would you mind posting al link?
Thanks
Justin

Not saying it doesn't happen.....just that it takes a good hard freeze to do so.
Today I had the pleasure of going to the orthodontist and getting braces on my teeth. I had braces for around four years and they straightened my teeth out really nicely. Unfortunately, my last set of molars came in crooked, so now I've got to deal with the braces again. Oh well.
The weather was beautiful again today. It's pretty rare to get such an extended period of mild, calm weather in Nebraska. There are hints that a pretty big storm system could arrive about a week from now with severe weather and then much colder temperatures.
Better get going with some homework now. I have five papers due over the course of the next two weeks. Two for rhetoric and composition, one for theology, one for physics, and one for RSP (which is Intro to College Life).

Evening/morning all......
Sorry I haven't been around lately, It's been hard to find Wi-Fi on the road lately, or I've just been too tired to fire up the computer at night. Such is the life of a truck driver.....
Will try to make it in quick later, before I head out for Macon in the Morning.
See everyone //whack//
Excuse me, need to find a towel, to stop the bleeding....

Supposed to be foggy out this morning, but you can't tell with the steady rain falling. Current temp is about 68 to 70 degrees, only going for a high of 78 today. Rain is in the forecast until tomorrow afternoon, so our entire area is under a flash flood watch.
Coffee, juices, iced teas, are ready, as well as hot water for cocoa and hot tea. And on the warmer/breakfast bar this morning: bagels, bear claws and an assortment of danishes and doughnuts.
Everyone have a good morning, and take it easy out there this morning.

JoeKohIt also has some red in it.
Red sky at morning.... (actually not a half bad "coming of age" movie, too)
No "sunrise" here this morning - too gray. Got a busy weekend coming up. Hot projects at home on Saturday, and (hopefully) crowds of leaf-peepers on the railroad on Sunday.

Peace be with you. I just got shanghied into going to my inlaws for my nephew's wedding Saturday. I originally said no, but you know how married life is, and now, I find out I am going... The dumb doober won't listen to reason and has messed everything up. I think he is on his own now.
It was a long day here in Carolina. I went grocery shopping early and was bad. I came home with a pound cake that is calling my name from the kitchen. Also, a few other goodies to tide me over for a few days. Nothing on the wireless, TV or computer, so I think I will lie down for a short short. Everybody take care

An almost dull trip to South Ogden and back today. We came back in such a way that we crossed over the UP's yard in Ogden, and saw lots of power, but could not stop to catalog it. We did see one train; on the way home we met a northbound with four units on the point and none on the rear; it was a short mixed with what seemed like more tank cars than any other kind.
Cool mornings, in the fifties, and up into the low eighties in the afternoon. Look out Monday! we expect lows in the forties and highs in the fifties, at best--and thundershowers on Tuesday.
Johnny
Good Saturday morning everyone. Johnny, your weather sounds a bit like ours, here in Lou., KY for this coming week: highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, with lows at night in the 40s.
Coffee, juices, iced teas are freshly made this morning, and there's hot water for hot tea.
On the breakfast bar: bagels, bear claws, sausage patties, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, oatmeal, grits, toast, country fried steak, and country fried ham w/red-eye gravy.
Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a good day, take care and please be sure to come back in tonight for our Saturday Pizza Fest.
morning
a gray and cloudy day today with some sprinkles.a cooldown is forecast for monday.highs in the 60s lows in the 40s.got chores to do and matt is helping mamma with grandpas birthday cake.better get the video camera out.
Frost again this morning. Looks like the beginning of the day will be nice, but rain is in the forecast for tonight and the next several days. Gonna make for a sloppy day on the railroad tomorrow...
Our morning low here was 64 degrees.....and boy, is that grass ever growing fast again. Periods of sunshine now, and perhaps I can get to mowing later this afternoon.
Lunch someplace next.
Just finished sending my rebate data in for a new stainless steel French Door ref. That being completed, we're ready to go run some errands and find lunch.
Well, it looks like it has been just a tad bit slow in here this afternoon. Hope everyone will be coming in soon, as our Pizza Fest is now on the warmer Ibar:
1. Canadian Bacon 2. Cheese w/extra cheese 3. Pepperoni/mushroom 4. Goetta 5. Hawaiian 6. Supreme 7. Italian sausage calzones
Dessert Pizzas: 1. Apple 2. Blueberry 3. Cherry 4. Peach
I hope you all have had a good day, and I hope you all have a good evening. And, if there's enough in here, maybe we'll pop some popcorn around 9 p.m. EDT, and I'll also get some apple cider to have with the popcorn, or you can have soft drinks.
Good Sunday morning, everyone. Well, I've gotten everything cleaned up from last night, since no one was in here at all, after I set out the pizzas.
Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are ready, along with hot water for hot tea. On the breakfast bar: bagels, bear claws, blueberry muffins and cinnamon rolls.
We are at 58 degrees this morning, the low was 57. But it sure does feel cooler than that outside, when I took the dog out a little while ago. Supposed to get up into the mid 70s later today. You all have a good morning, doing/going wherever you need to go this morning. See you all later.
Good afternoon. Sorry to be so late today. I woke up with a bad back pain, and have taken some potent pain meds. I think I hear the rack calling me. Good night
Tom sorry to hear about your back bothering you. Take care, and we'll see you when you're better.
Since no one has been in since Tom was in earlier, if anyone wants anything to eat, there's plenty of pizzas in the fridge, leftover from last night. Have at it.
Clear skies now and all day so far.....Current temp. 69 degrees. Nice day. But they are telling us we will have cold air approaching from the NW and warm underneath us and that will produce possible thunder showers, but for certain....wind..Lots of it. It will be gusting up to 50 mph, was stated on Local Indy channels in the past hour. More wind tomorrow too with 25 - 45mph gusts. Sure doesn't look like any of the above by looking outside now. Calm and clear.
grampaw pettibone Good afternoon. Sorry to be so late today. I woke up with a bad back pain, and have taken some potent pain meds. I think I hear the rack calling me. Good night
I hope that your back does get better Mr. Tom, I have had such things happen to me as well and fun is definitely not the operative word.
Take it easy,
Roy
Tom - I can sympathize with the back pain thing.
That wind won't bode well for our fall foliage. We were near peak today (despite the rain, mist, and fog), but the rain and a lot of wind will mean all we'll have to look at will be bare trees.
Sorry about the water on the floor - spent most of the day working in the rain. Got pretty well drenched.
Good Monday morning, everyone. Larry, have you dried out yet? Sure hope so. And don't worry about getting water on the floor: we have plenty of mops around here, to mop up water, or spilled beverages, etc.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made, and the water is hot for hot tea or cocoa, and hot milk for hot chocolate.
On the warmer/breakfast bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, toast, bacon, sausage, homemade biscuits and sausage gravy.
It looks like we're at our high for today: current temp is 68 at the national weather service at the airport, and 70 in the downtown area. Temps will be slowly dropping today. And it's very windy outside. Sitting in the living room, I could hear the wind rattling the window.
Will be taking requests this morning from you all, as to what you want to have to eat for lunch/dinner and dinner/supper.
Mookie, if we sit out in the garden this morning, to catch up with each other, and watch the trains going by, I think we'll need at least a sweater, or sweat jacket. What do you think?
Peace be with you. 60 degrees and cloudy in Carolina this morning. Not sure what the projected high is, but it is somewhere in the 80s. Quite a change from just a short while ago. Paula, thanks for breakfast, and with that, I need to run. Everybody take care
Good morning! CW, thanks much for breakfast this morning. It's a bit cool here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota this morning, right now we have a temp of barely 45 degrees. Our projected high for this afternoon will be around 61 or a little better than that. I have not yet gotten my furnace running, but will probably need some heat come tomorrow morning. The temperature here is supposed to get down to about 35 degrees.
Tom, I hope you are doing better with your back this morning, and as others have said in this forum, having to deal with any kind of back pain is certainly not fun.....I've been there myself.
I have both today and tomorrow off, and I'm not entirely sure what I'm gonna do with all the free time on my hands. I've got one prospective employer that I want to apply for work with and I might get that done today.
