Good Tuesday morning, everyone. Nice and cool, with a current temp of 64 here in downtown Louisville, with a projected high today of 85. Supposed to be a nice, sunshiny day.
Coffee, juices, lemonade, iced teas and hot water for hot tea are all freshly made, and ready to go.
On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, oatmeal, toast ready andwaiting.
I'm looking for another mild day as far as Tuesday Produce goes, as the other nearby facility is open today. Since so many of our people go to that one also, it is usually a smaller turnout here at St. George's.
Everyone have a great morning, and I'll see you after Tuesday Produce.

Mookie: I'm right behind you, with a couple of pillows for us. A nap sure does sound good, right about now!!
mudchicken In Gerd's honor, let's see if we can get some milk, sour cream, dill and cucumbers together for cucumber salad.
Mudchicken, I believe we can handle that: got mil, sour cream, dill and cucumbers on hand, and plenty of all above said ingredients. We'll also have: tuna salad sandwiches, roast beef hogies, with your choice of potato wedges, fries or potato chips. Desserts today: Apple, blueberry, cherry, peach and strawberry cobblers, with plenty of ice cream. (Any flavor you want, it's more than likely in the freezer, so just help yourselves!) OH! we also have plenty of chocolate cake (some with white icing, some with chocolate, and yellow cake w/chocolate icing. And, if anyone likes it, there's a white cake w/coconut icing.
Almost through with the third load of laundry. Just waiting for the second load to finish in the dryer, so I can unload the dryer, and load it with the clothes in the washer.

Been talking steadily for 2 hours, so why stop me when I am on a roll. (More on that in a minute)
Welcome to our forum friend from Austria. Looked through all the German writings and I am with a lot of the other people - my German heritage only knows dumkopf. I am always so happy the rest of the world knows English!

Tree! I just love an earring on a man!
Sir Chicken - don't you know milk builds good strong bones and mudchickens? Puts more stomp in your boots!
And my last piece of news - one more forum member has been identified in person. Just had a long chat in my walk-in closet sized living room with CopCarSS Chris from Denver. Such a nice young man. (I am noticing more lately that everyone is considered young!) As we speak, he is on his way west but planning to hit highway 30 to watch the UP triple tracks through western NE. We had a great visit and I sent a hug with him to give to der Mudchicken. Would love to be there for that one! I forgot to ask him about his "handle", so will have to do that after he gets back to Denver!
The Driver will be happy when he gets home today. I am pretty well talked out for the rest of the day.

mudchickenRed Bull would be an awful ex$pen$ive alternative for Gatorade
Not to mention that a key ingredient in drinks like Red Bull is caffiene. A diuretic. So you're drinking something that will make you lose even more fluids than you already are. Stick with water and Gatorade.
I have a similar discussion with firefighters from time to time, especially as they're reaching for the "Mountain Dew" for rehydration at an incident.
On another note - had a "what the heck was that about" incident this weekend. After our usual run-around at the outer point of one of our south trips, I was headed onto the locomotive to be the "extra set of eyes" (running long hood forward) for the trip north. As I was boarding the locomotive, one of the passengers asked if I could retrieve her daughter's ear-ring. It had somehow fallen on the coupler...
I called for three-step and retrieved the errant ear ring, with the engineer wondering what the heck was going on. As I cancelled three stop on entering the cab, I explained it...

Kiwigerd: Suddenly the forum started sounding like Cincinnati on a summer afternoon. Red Bull would be an awful ex$pen$ive alternative for Gatorade (I can go through 4 gallons on a hot summer day with ease). The stuff gets you rehydrated. That much Red Bull and they would be scraping everybody off the ceiling with a spatula.
Here it was the hottest weekend of the summer. Three scotties ('Da Boyz) got baths on Sunday much to their consternation and the forum was paid a brief visit by LC.
Hoping for rain today. In Gerd's honor, let's see if we can get some milk, sour cream, dill and cucumbers together for cucumber salad.
Loonnnngggg weekend - and it was only two days.
Saturday's trains went off without a hitch, as did Sundays, save for that downpour that decided to time itself for our runaround... I only got a little wet.
After the day's runs we had to assemble the train for the larger groups experienced with Wednesdays train robberies. It was only two cars, and no shuffling, but it's still switching real railroad cars, and we don't do a lot of that.
No problems, though. I'm just beat.
Doesn't help that the bunk in the camp car (I stayed overnight) is a tad short for my 6'5" frame, and that the camp car itself is sitting a little off kilter...
Fortunately there's nothing on the agenda for tonight, so there's probably a nap in the recliner before supper in my future.
Got my tea and bearclaw. I'll be nodding off over in the corner booth.
morning
well someone keepss forgetting to turn on the big computer at work on sunday night so we can use the little ones to do our jobs.Have a little fog now but going to be a nice day. After a nap I will be getting the mower and trimmer out to spruce up the lawn.Cw thanks for breakfast.
Joe
Good Monday morning, everyone. I hope you all had a terrific weekend! We are starting out this morning, with temps in the mid to upper 50s, going for a high of about 81 today. (Going to be a very good day for me getting laundry done!)
Coffee, juices, lemonade, iced teas, Gatorade, and hot water for hot tea are all freshly made (Well, the Gatorade is in the drums, so it's always read).
On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, oatmeal, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.
Mookie, your coffee mug is out on the counter, ready to have coffee poured into it, whenever you get in.
You all have a great morning, enjoy your breakfast, and take care.

Welcome to the Diner Gerd and a ( high green ) to you . Your post brought memories back to me of mine grossmuter .
Variable weather here--yesterday, the high was close to one hundred. Today, it is in the low eighties. We have been promised scattered showers, but, so far as I know, none has come down around us. Before we left for church this morning, I closed all the windows lest we have showers coming in while we were gone, but as well as I could tell there was no rain here while we were gone--and it rained in Salt Lake City.
It was nice being away in our timeshare last week, but it is also nice to be back in our year-round home.
Johnny
Wohlgetan, Murray--but, Kool Aid has been around a trifle longer that Gatorade; I just checked, and learned that it was first marketed (as Kool Ade) in 1927. I had never thought to consider the two as being similar, since Kool Aid always comes as a powder (to reduce transportation costs), and Gatorade comes ready to drink. When I was going to Vacation Bible School, back in the forties, I was occasionally asked by one of the teachers to go over to her brothers' store to get more Kool Aid.
Verzeihen Sie mir, bitte. Meine Deutsch is nicht so gut dass ich auf Deutsch schreibe.

Thank you all very much for the info about Gatorade. Here in Austria we have Red Bull, maybe you know that one too as it has become popular thru the sponsoring of formula I racing sports.
Particular thanking Murray for the work he undertook to publish it in german, very kind.
As far as the political correctness is concerned I am still uncertain about why a word starting with k.r.a.u.t. will be substituted by black stars. Is that something bad to Americans? FYI, my second country is New Zealand, also english speaking, and they never had such a problem with it. I know of course that this word used solo was a nickname for german soldiers in ww 1, maybe even ww2, but then they were also called "Fritz", and yet this is still a quite popular first name there.
Anyway, to give you an update on central european summer weather: a little too cool now, maximum today around 72, 73° F, a short patch of drizzle, and sunshine again. Forecast is for more summer again during coming week albeit no heat wave.
Evening dinner most lovely: pork roast with gravy, self made austrian dumplings (made with bread crumbs, flour, parsley, egg), the aforementioned warm salad. This with a good cold beer. After this fresh seasonal fruits, grapes and nectarines.
I wish all of you a good rest of Sunday and a pleasant week!
Gerd
We're still waiting for the expected sunshine this afternoon.....Still overcast. Only 68 degrees too.
Here is some Gatorade information for you Gerd:
Joe, thanks for explaining what a couple of our menu items mean for Gerd. Here is today's Sunday Dinner menu:
1. Meat loaf w/mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, cole slaw, and German potato salad, and homemade buttermilk biscuits.
2. (For those of us who are experiencing autumn-like weather), mild chili w/your choice of oyster crackers or regular saltines and also, your choice of grilled cheese sanwiches or PB&J sandwiches. (Here at home in Lousville, Walt and I will be having the chili.)
Hope everyone enjoys the meals today, and have a good afternoon. See you all later on.

Good Morning
Welcome to the Forums "K" sorry I didn't welcome you earlier.I was getting stuff for deshler.About your questions.Sometimes a simple word will get edited out because it might seem offensive eventhough it wasn't intended that way.Being of German heritage myself I can't have a bratwurst without some sauerkraut on top.We have a summerfest over in Hamler Ohio where they serve warm German Potato salad too.Your second question gatorade is a sports drink used on especially warm days to keep people hydrated while working.Although you want to mix in some water once in awhile too.Cw thanks for breakfast.Going to catch up on chores at home.Going to need a nap today too.Its back to work tonight.
I was CENSORED - but the name of the dish is "K r a u t" salad.
Question to the editor: does that really need to be, I'm not responsible for the name, it is a genuine german word and very tasty to eat!!
Sorry for the *** - I meant warm *** salad.
cherokee woman Coffee, juices, Gatorade, lemonade, iced teas and hot water for hot tea are all freshly made, and ready for the day. What would you all like to see on the menu for Sunday Dinner? I'm thinking about making either lasagna or meat loaf, but I'd like your alls' opinion, as to what you'd like to have today. Please let me know what you'd prefer!

Hello again, good morning to you and all!
Just one question: what on earth is Gatorade?? I hever never heard this name and I am widely travelled.
As for the dinner: I would opt for the meat loaf, a) I don't fanzy Lasagne and b) I like meat loafs.
As a matter of fact we shall have pork roast with warm *** salad, made with bacon, onions and wine vinegar. Anyway, have a good one, and a marvellous Sunday to enjoy!
Good Sunday morning, everyone. It's nice and chilly (for this time of year) here in Louisville this morning: downtown has 63 degrees, and out in the county, it's 62 degrees. Going for 75 for a high again today. We even ended up having about 30 drops of rain yesterday afternoon (according to Walt, while I was taking a nap).
On the warmer/breakfast bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, and cinnamon rolls are ready.
Everyone have a good morning, take care, whether you're going to work, Church, or whatever you have to do/go this morning.
I hope everyone has had a very enjoyable day. We've had cloudy skies all day; I believe we made it to 75 degrees today, and the temp has already dropped a couple of degrees. Fan in bedroom window is off, and the big industrial fan in the living room is also turned off. Have a small fan that is on though, to help circulate the air in the living room.
Now, it's time for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest. On the warmer bar, you'll find:
1. Anchovie. 2. Cheese. 3. Goetta. 4. Hawaiian. 5. Pepperoni/mushroom. 6. Supreme. 7. Italian sausage calzones. There's also plenty of fresh garden salad to have with your pizza.
Desserts tonight: Yellow cake w/chocolate icing, and chocolate cake w/vanilla icing, along with some 'dessert' pizzas: apple, peach, strawberry, and cherry.
Everyone enjoy your pizzas, have a good evening, and take care. (Maybe I'll try to pop back in later.)
A little different weather here this morining....65 degrees and overcast, but believe it is to clear. Then we'll have sunshine for many coming days. .02" of rain overnight. No wind.
Speaking of low 80's this coming week.
Hi again to all of you lovely people!
Thank you very much for the warm welcome I was given - makes me really feel good. I am a rail fan since early childhood as my father worked for a rail after the war and we lived in a small cottage close to the tracks. When I was about 4 or 5 people say I knew all the different steamer loco types that they had those days. Later on I met a young GI from the states and his father was an engineer with the B & O driving a GP-9. This was totally new to me, such a behemoth of Diesel loco was unknown in Europe, at least in these old days (end 1960 or early 1970). Ever since I collected models of your EMDs, GEs, FMs, Baldwyns, etc. and now own about 250 - fortunately in N scale. I would like to have a bowling alley or something so I could build a layout large enough to run a few decent trains, however my Micky mouse layout only measures 3 by 8 ft, is operated in DC modus and can only accommadate 3 trains in parallel. Most dominant the short trains consisting of a double header GPs and 12 to 15 50ft box cars or hoppers. Even so, its quite impressive and of course all my display cases and shelves are full!
The thunderstorms I mentioned yesternight did finally come but only hit us in modest fashion. The overall temperatures are reduced to high seventies today - which is welcome by most.
To all of you: have a pleasant weekend!
Hallo Tom!
Danke fuer das nette Willkommen. Ich bin auch alter Eisenbahnfan und Kalmbach Kunde. I subscribe to MR for some time and construct and operate a small layout based on BNs Cascade division in the late seventies.
Ich komme sicher oefter hierher zurueck mit all den freundlichen Menschen.
Schoenes Wochenende
Good Saturday morning, everyone! Joe, looks like you got in here just about the time I was waking up! When I awoke, I looked over at the clock, and it read 5:59. Thanks so much for fixing breakfast. Everything sure does look good and appetizing this morning. Enjoy the Corn City today, and remember to stay safe out there! (Not only Joe, Stacey and Matt, but all of our forum friends!!)
