Morning All,

Still determining what to do with the day. Had planned to get up my the GLRR for some fall color. After watching the weather last night, I'm pretty sure that there wouldn't be many colors other than white to find in most of the high country (2 feet or more in spots!).

Had thought about taking some shots around Denver, but Alas! it seems that all we get it Denver is a shot of some cold air (55ºF high) in Denver, and steel grey skies as far as the eye can see. Not the most photogenic (at least for trains).

Might go down to Caboose Hobbies or something, and pick up a couple books on Modeling. Have thought about starting a layout based on a free-lanced short line in 1950's rural IL in N-Scale. Might be a good day to think about that, and perhaps even pick up some lumber for benchwork.

At any rate, I hear that the weather is going to be nasty over much of the mid-west again today, much like last night (had to call Momma and make sure the house was still standing last night after I saw a Hook echo on radar in the vicinity of our house....all was well).  Hope everyone back that way does OK. Take care!

Well, have to check E-mail and such, and I'll be on my way. Hope you all have a great weekend!

any relief, either.  Anybody got some Naproxyn (Aleve)?

I was wondering why I had to take a Vicks DayQuil caplet every few days to relieve my symptoms. Sad [:(]

Can you do a sliced tomato and mushroom pizza for tonight? Dinner [dinner]

Good morning everyone.

I forgot to take a 12 ounce can of frozen orange juice out of my ice box last night,so it looks like I will have to stop in at the Diner if I want some orange juice.

I was up kind of late last night baking bread. I bake bread in small batches and last night I turned out two loaves of whole wheat bread.Chef [C=:-)] It was roughly 11:00 PM here when I finally hit the sack. It was almost 7:00 this morning when I got up.

I think I might show up at the Diner tomorrow morning with a pan or two of my cinnamon rolls. It takes about three to four hours for me to turn out a pan of my cinnamon rolls, and I know they would be gone in a flash!Chef [C=:-)]Dinner [dinner]

I am looking at going for a long walk on the bike trails here later this morning, but there is a good threat of rain here, so I will take my umbrella with me just in case it does start raining. Right now we have a steel-grey overcast sky, and the weather here has been like this now for the last four days. It's wearing thin on my soul and I'm feeling just a bit moody.Sigh [sigh] I went to the weather channel on my computer and noted that the weather conditions in Louisville, Kentucky have been much the same. So I think Cherokee Woman & Locomutt and others out there can identify with what I am saying.

CW - I'm glad to hear that all is well in your parts. I was watching the storms heading your way last night and saying some prayers for you and Locomutt!

Nothing of note in the weather department here this morning. Cloudy and dreary best some up the current situation outside.

Be back in for the pizza this evening.

Thanks for the good words, but seems that we're not totally out of the woods yet.
Just hope we don't get 8-9 more inches of rain in the next 24 hours,or we may have
to build a very large boat. Certain parts of this entire area are already saying that what
we've had the last day or so,is worse than the last bad one we had almost 10 years ago.
Several of the main roads are still closed due to high water, including one of the Interstates.

SactoGuy, CW says that she'll put that particular pizza on the menu.

....Walt, I see that mess over you fellows in the louisville area....Just pulled up moving radar on my computer here and that is nasty looking stuff passing you right now.

We dodged a bullet last night as it was coming our way too but much of it slipped south of us and we got practically nothing.  We're still under a threat for today though...later today.  We'll keep an eye out for it.  Warm here this morning and with that colliding with colder stuff near by it spells trouble.

Hang on down there.

I got the following pizzas ready to bake for tonight's PIZZA FEST:

1.  double cheese
2. goetta
3.  supreme
4.  Hawaiian
5.  pepperoni/sausage
6.  sliced tomatoes and mushrooms
7.  Canadian bacon (almost forgot, because someone FORGOT to
give me a reminder, after requesting it after the fact, last Saturday.)

They will start going into the oven right about 6:30 EDT.    Right now, I'm
working on a  couple of dessert pizzas:  one with apple and one with cherry..
They will both have a white glaze drizzled over them.

So far, the  rain has stopped here.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see what
we get later on tonight.  Hope the really bad stuff they are predicting, will just
die out, and not get to us.  We are still under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. EDT.

Yes, I forgot to remind you that I'd like Canadian Bacon pizza tonight. You have my apology for slipping up on this, CW.

I am planning on bringing a couple pans of my cinnamon rolls into the Diner early tomorrow morning. They will still be warm from the oven. I hope we've got plenty of butter on hand in the Diner.Chef [C=:-)]

I'll take the number 2.

I'll need an ice-cold Dr. Pepper to go with it.

Hope everyone is OK. The rain has finally stopped today. Looks as though Central Ky and points south got the worst of it. We only managed to have 3+ inches of rain in Northern KY.

We got another 1.2 inches of rain this afternoon--fortunately, it didn't come all at once, like it did last night.

Today was a tough day at work--nothing out of the ordinary happened, but I was battling fatigue and inattentiveness most of the time.  I think the weather had a lot to do with that.

It might still be wet tomorrow, but I hope not.  I'd like to bike to work once more this week, and Pat has an outdoor event to attend after church.  Who knows--another butterfly might be in the offing!

Good Sunday morning to all!  Ray, thank you for the cinnamon rolls!  Had a couple,
and they are very good.  Love cinnamon rolls!!

Joe, thank you for making the coffee and juice this morning.

To have something when Ray's rolls are gone, I've got some bacon, sausage,
biscuits & sausage gravy on the warmer bar.

The sun is out this morning, and looks like it's going to be a beautiful day here.

Sunday Dinner will be ready around 2 p.m. EDT.  Here is the menu for today:

Pork Roast w/potatoes, carrots and onions
Cream style corn w/hot biscuits or crescent rolls
Creamed peas

Hope everyone has a great day, and be careful and safe, wherever you go today,
and whatever you do.

Howdy all!  Thought I'd pop in and say hi.  I'll snag a donut and some OJ and be on my way.  Take care!

BTW Mook, we added to our household.  Thursday we got Chace, an 8 week old kitten!  He's so darn fiesty that the dogs and 3 other cats don't know what to make of him.

Morning All,

Forgive me if I'm a little grouchy today. It would seem that my days of railfanning the Moffat Line are over, or at the very lest much more difficult. I woke up before sunrise this morning, and noticed that we had nice clear skies. I thought a trip up to the Moffat Line was in order. Lo and behold, at every one of my favorite spots (Rocky, Blue Mtn. Road, Tunnel No. 1, Crescent, Pinecliffe, etc. etc. etc. Uncle Pete had posted new big bright and bold "NO TRESSPASSING" signs. Doh! Hate it when that happens. So, I'm going to have to do some investigating where I can both park and set-up tripods on public land before I head out for picturating that line.

Sigh [sigh]I think it's a shame. I guess it's because of the world we live in. Based on the lawsuits that have been thrown Uncle Pete's way lately, I'm not really sure I blame them. Just look at the Maureen Martin lawsuit in Colorado Springs. When a case like that results in the railroad losing $11 Million, I think it's in their best interest to protect themselves as best they can.

Oh well...sorry about the rant. Hope you all have a great day.

Okay, the pork roast, etc. is now ready, and on the warmer bar.  The sides, other than
the carrots, onions, potatoes and creamed peas are:  fresh sliced tomatoes (both red
and yellow), and garden salad.

Desserts today:  chocolate cake, apple cobbler, and peach pie.

Fantastic dinner, CW!

I got to see the CNW heritage unit and the two remaining unpatched CNW units today and it was totally by mistake. We were going to just eat breakfast at home, but at the last minute decided to go out to eat and after eating we went across the grade crossing of the Union Pacific yard lead in Council Bluffs and there was the heritage unit and its partners just getting ready to be connected to an outbound train. We stuck around and waited for them to head out and got lots of photos - some of which I will post as soon as they are developed and I can scan them onto the computer. That is about the coolest locomotive I've ever seen, and it was even more rewarding to see them because it just happened that we passed by at the right time.

Anyway, I decided to be a slacker all weekend and now I've got a couple of homework assignments that I still need to do this evening, so I'll be back tomorrow afternoon.

Congratulations on your accidental capture, Willy!  I get to see those things roughly every four days or so (as long as they're on that particular run).

Also, thanks for sending the brighter weather our way.  We captured another butterfly today (if you remind me, I'll explain that to you in a couple of weeks.  Mook knows whereof I speak.)

Well, had supper at the inn across from the station after we finished up for the day, but a piece of pie sounds really good right about now.

Our big seller this time of year is the fall colors - and they are certainly there, but would have looked much better in nice, bright sunlight.  At least the crews didn't get too wet - it let up most of the time when it needed to.  We did get the occasional peek from the sun, but not as much as we would have liked.

It still wasn't a bad day on the railroad, though.

Good Monday morning to all!  Mudchicken, thank you for putting the coffee on.  And,
I don't know where that biiiiiigg coffee filter came from.  I just use the regular 10-12
cup size filters, and have two Bunn coffee makers going at all times in here.

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, bagels, fried
taters, oatmeal, toast, waffles,  are on the breakfast menu this morning.

At least, it has quit raining around here, and we're supposed to stay dry until Thursday.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll be back in in a little bit, to start working on the
lunch and supper menus for today.  Anyone have any meal suggestions?  We'll see
if our selections coinside.

Dan - awwww.....and at 8 weeks, you have to let everyone know you are around!

Well, I have arrived again - a little late, since I had to look under and around all the papers lying on my desk..  Made me a little pile and well, needless to say, they won't want to touch them any more....Evil [}:)]

And they won't scold me - after all - what's a cat supposed to do?  Great way to get rid of some work.

Ready to start another weekend of mischief and maybe some fun. I will have to give Sir Chicken a reprieve today so he can recover from his weekend of little people.  (Wonder if he has noticed he attracts old ladies, kids and dogs?)

I must read like mad to get caught up.  That will require getting out someone's half-glasses out of my clutter drawer where I hide all these really great finds!  Should go through it sometime and clean it out.

BC - have to get grandson (7) a subscription to Trains! He found mine and wanted to take it back to MN with him.  And I hadn't read it yet, so will give him his own subscription.  I see the future BNSF CEO in the making!

Did everyone survive the weekend ok?  Kinda wet!  and Brrrr....

Could it be worked into a curriculum?

Well, I've got lunch going on the stove.  Today's lunch includes:

Italian spaghetti casserole, your choice of garlic bread or garlic Texas Toast,
garden salad

Leftover pork roast, carrots, onions & potatoes from Sunday Dinner, w/creamed
peas and creamed corn w/cornbread.

Depending on who comes in for lunch, there should be enough spaghetti casserole
for supper tonight, also (including any take out orders on it).  I doubled the recipe,
so we have six casserole dishes of it.  I took two out about 1/2 hour ago, and put into
the oven to bake.
