Yessss - I am here to wreak havoc, cause mayhem and maybe take a nap!

Poor Duchess was sick?  Why wasn't I called.  Mookie MD!

This summer has been hard on our family pets - Big Muddy's Adorable Andy and now Delightful Duchess!  Of course, Mad Mookie has been just fine!  Dr sez she is good for another year of naps and mischief.

Poker?  Oh Randy - a favorite of mine, but I lose too well.  I love to play, but never get a hand worth a darn to play!  Haven't learned to bluff well enough.  Maybe I just don't have a "poker face".  I smile at all the wrong times!

BC - you are seeing some interesting sights - we are just seeing mostly the usual - but I have noticed they have pulled a lot of the 9's and are running more of the brandess-newess engines on the coal trains and a lot of older engines on the freight.  The 9's seem to be resting off somewhere else.  Have seen a whole batch of new numbers that we hadn't seen before!

Gas prices up and temp will be too this week. Property Taxes jumped a lot and prices are up on everything including food.  Wages stayed the same or went lower.

This has been your fence-street reporterette....

Heading for the hammock, pushing a cup of coffee!

Good morning everyone! It's actually much cooler this morning for a change--the nearest weather station to my house (according to Weather Underground web page) is some 10 degrees F. cooler than yesterday morning. Cool [8D] Hopefully, this will be a start of a decent cooling trend! Thumbs Up [tup]

A word of warning to everyone here: much of the Internet is quite slow and non-functional this morning. It appears that a number of servers in the New York City area and in California are down due to power issues, so you may have trouble logging into some sites. Sad [:(]

Sounds like time to hunker down with another cup of tea and wait 'til thing improve...

Actually, things are running pretty good from my point of view.

Most of the serious server farms are on backup power, anyhow.  Some make their own power all of the time.

SJ, our walk may have yielded a couple of good shots.  None of them were taken by me, however.  My phone had a major malfunction in the nut behind the shutter release.  Pat, however, claims that she got all three units.  Her camera, however, is one of those antiques that requires film, so it may take a while before we see the results.

The train, meanwhile, is about ten minutes away from the webcam as this is being written.

I'm kind of slow and non-functioning this morning, too--if you don't count the 1.5 mile walk we made and the half of the lawn (so far) that's been mowed.

Brian, I'm not sure about those trains.  It looks like the westbound manifest could have been behind MCBPR.  Coal trains and stack trains leave from other yards, and aren't as easy to distinguish.

Pat and I will take a walk out this morning a little after 9:00, and will hope to catch the trio in Lombard.  Don't know about photo-ops; the sunlight angle won't be helpful.  No chases, obviously.

I bet I got there too late Thursday then, which doesn't surprise me.  It would seem that, given the info I had, Belvidere to CR shouldn't have taken more than four hours.  If it's already clearing Rochelle as of this post, there's no way I can catch it today without going AWOL here.  Next opportunity I get will probably be later in the week.

Well, it's almost lunch time for just about everybody (except for those in the far west).  So today's lunch
menu will be:  meat loaf, mashed taters w/gravy, green beans and garden salad.

Our weather here is pretty nice today.  Our projected high will be about 85, 87, and the humidity is still
in the low category.  So that will be pretty good.

Hope everyone enjoys their lunch.  Does anyone have any suggestions for supper tonight?

Saw it on the Webcam at 11:18 a.m.  Had some company observing with me--right, Sis?

Latest report had the train through Nelson about an hour ago.  I'll keep you informed, just in case, Brian.

By the way, where did Belvidere come from?  Those trains don't go through there; it's on a branch out of West Chicago.

Got more meat loaf, mashed taters, etc. for supper, along with lasagna, garlic bread and
garden salad.  For dessert, we've got Jell-O with homemade oatmeal-raisin cookies.

Had a very good afternoon.  Sarah and I went to the YMCA, and worked out.  For me,
it was the first time I've been to the Y.  Really enjoyed myself, and Sarah is a very good
trainer, to have when it's your first time in a gym.  Know I will probably be very sore in
the morning, but it will be worth it.

CW, glad you had fun at the gym with Sarah. I think I'd be a little scared of going to the gym with her. I've read the list of sports she participates in. I don't think I'd make it trying to keep up!

Speaking of excercise, going to try to push up the bike range tonight to somewhere between 35 and 40 miles. Best part is that the route I have planned will take me out somewhat along the Moffat sub in Arvada, and bring me back along the Coors Branch on the way back in. Starting to get there (though I'm not sure I'll manage 3000 miles in a year like Carl...unfortunately I don't have his dedication).

Is it me, or does there seem to be a lot of animosity on the new forum? I'm not completely innocent, but I do try to keep my temper down, and avoid flame wars as much as possible. There are a couple threads going that I forsee getting locked and the key being thrown away very soon. Must be something with the heat. We might have to add another container for Gatorade to cool some folks down (though I did notice Larry brought out the fire hose on a couple threads...that'll probably have a good effect, too).

Well, I'm going to go get changed, and hit the trail. Hope you all have a good evening!

TTFN!

Oops, wrong town on the mind.  I meant De Kalb.

Lasagna sure is good after a GREAT catch with the camera.  Check out the CNW Heritage Thread.  Kudos to Carl for his heads-up.

Congratulations on the successful capture, and glad to have been able to help this time.

Well, That was a rather easy day- But maybe I shouldn't start getting used to it.

Maybe I should stay at work- I almost knocked myself out using a pipe wrench in the wrong fashion- Who knew there was a right way and a wrong way to use a pipe wrench? supposedly your supposed to turn it in an 'away' fashion from yourself- not pull it towards you.

Well Ooops- i'm going to have a huge black eye tomorrow.

Plumbing has never been my thing, yet hiring a plumer at 50 bucks first glance sure isn't my thing either.

it was rather cool here today -82F- This is supposedly going to be the coolest day of the week
But I don't care- passenger cars are A/C to the max!

Speaking of GYM's and what not- That's all hooplah. Designing your own excersise plan can save you a lot of money. i can't remember the website, but it helps you create your own exercise plan, and you never have to leave the comfort of your own livingroom to execute your own exercise plan!

You'd be surprised how expensive a membershipis at the gym- Like the goat from Hoodwinked was singing... Be prepared, be prepared-this lesson must be sharred....

I guess The kitchen is closed?!?! What a rip! I'm hungry!

Oh well, my stomach will just have to eat itself.

Tom, welcome back!!  We've really, really missed you!  Hope you can stay with us
for awhile.

As a welcome back for you, check today's lunch menu posted below the breakfast
menu.

Breakfast will be:  sausage, gravy, biscuits, home fries, scrambled eggs.

The coffee is on, juice, lemonade and iced tea are freshly made.

Lunch today:  we'll grill hotdogs, burgers, and steaks.  Mutt will be helping with the
grill duty.

Kevin, there's always bibs under the counter:  two-thirds of the time, I NEED a
bib, myself.  I'm always spilling food, or missing my mouth.

So far, I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be after working out at the gym yesterday.
But I didn't do any weight lifting:  they don't have weights light enough for me to
lift.  But my legs are a tad bit sore.  Will have to do some walking this afternoon,
to work out the soreness and stiffness.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll be getting ready now to start signing in people
for Produce Day.

Hey Tom!  Welcome Back - so glad to seea you face!  Stick around - we still have fun in here even if the rest of the forum is less than spectacular.

Think I will have a Canadian Muffin in honor of Kevin and move to the garden.  Think I saw BC and Brian head that way.  Feeling pretty frisky - think I will follow....Evil [}:)]
