Evening guys and GIRLS!

I loved your Idea so much James, I superseized it.

I lied Jim- I don't have a smart car- I was just fooling with your head, actually I find it easier to walk everywhere. Walk to the train station to get on the train to take me to the train yard where i work, Bike- I'd say take a bus- But I'm a germophobe - lying again, we don't have busses in our area.

I could take a taxi- I could save the money to.

Hey Jim- in my past life- or now that i'm older it feels like it, I ran a lawn cutting.. Green, that's pretty conveniant...  buisness and I have advice for you on your grass. When it gets warm out like holy mother warm, Don't cut your lawn. Once cut, it will be cut too close to the roots, and the blades of grass will go into shock and your lawn will go yellow. Besides when it's really warm, The Grass HARDLY grows, actually it grows at about a rate of 7% of what it usually would!

So unlike what your teacher said: Procrastinate. Add a week, but if your a type a bum-head, i mean personality.. and likes everyhting all organized, fancy doo dah day, adjsut the lawn mower to the highest setting possible, then cut

And remember, all  pre-2004 Lawnboys have a 2-cycle gas-oil mixture of 32:1.

And my last bit of advice involving mosquito control via Lawnmower- Add a smigin of 2-cycle oil to your 4 stroke lawnmower. It creates a lot of smoke, and will surely kill of the mosquitos for that night, and if you hate your neighbors- it'll scare them off aswell, or make them call the police.

So Jim, how are you doing?

Just came by to take a dip in the new swimming pool.  Good thing the chef is dumping the ice sculpture in the pool when the buffet line is taken down.  I'll take a salad and a glass of ice tea then call it a night.

Good evening everyone, late night here catching up after actually getting out for a couple of hours of railfanning.  Carl, 1995 was a no-show, at least from 6-ish to 7:40, when I decided it was getting too dark for a good picture.  HOWEVER, I did get lots of shots of lots of action, including an incredibly lucky catch of eastbound-meets-westbound dead center on the Cedar River bridge, something that would have been impossible up until a few years ago (without casualties and clogging the river with rolling stock, anyway)!  I have several westbounds cataloged, and will get them posted soon on rrpicturearchives, so maybe you can figure out whether I was early or late.  Another interesting catch- one of the westbounds had a BNSF engine second-in-line.  Well, time for bed- busy weekend coming up!

Now for a piece of that Mississippi Mud Ice Cream Pie.  Smile [:)]

I hear the bed calling.  Good night all.

Gee Jay:  I didn't know there was an ice sculpture on the buffet table.  Someone must have brought that
in after I left last night.  Maybe Sarah brought it in, then put it in the poolWink [;)]

Good Friday morning, everyone!!  Well, we are getting a little bit of rain here this morning.  So far, just
enough to make the air more muggy and sticky!!

Coffee, juice, iced tea and lemonade are ready.

For breakfast this morning, there are doughnuts and blueberry  and bran muffins.
Since Mookie isn't here today, think I'll go take a little nap in the hammock.Sleepy [|)]

Morning All,

It's Friday! (well, excluding people like Jim who have an altered schedule...sorry Jim). There was much rejoicing. I'm still trying to decide on Sunday plans. Saturday is a bit busy with errands and cantoring duties at church. Sunday's possibilities involve climbing Quandary Peak, tackling a new trail with lots of waterfalls on the SE side of RMNP, heading out on the Moffat Line for some railfanning, heading up to the "Loop" (the railroad...not the downtown area of Chicago), or perhaps a combination of some of the above. I guess I'll just have to see how the mood strikes me Sunday.

Mutt, let me know how you like Lightroom, or if there's anything I can do to help you learn it (though I'm still learning it myself...so I'm not sure how much help I can be).

Well, I suppose I must be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

Lots of weather here last night.  Was driving back from Syracuse after picking up my daughter's Dalmatian (they're headed for the Jersey shore via Sarah's home territory) and hit rain coming down so hard that it was 30 mph and 4 ways on the interstate...

Of course it was still dry at the house.  Took care of that at 2 am - 6/10ths of an inch of rain in an hour, plus all the usual fireworks.  I understand it took the phones out (mine's VoIP).

Usually my dog has issues with thunder, but having the Dal around (he's deaf - "Thunder?  I don't hear no stinking thunder!") and unfazed by the storm apparently led her to believe it was alright, and she slept peacefully, albeit next to me on the bed, throughout most of the storm.

More storms forecast for today, but that's fine.  I've got to call on my friend the farmer to bale the lawn anyhow...

It is my Friday, though, and I'm skipping working on the railroad this weekend, so maybe I can get it mowed yet...

Depot Diner & Coffee Shop Thread for Everybody   Clown [:o)]

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.   Evil [}:)]

We are going to have a cool down today, the high temp is only going to be 101 with a heat index of 110.  Tomorrow and Sunday we might have to break out the long sleeve shirts as we are dropping down into the 90s.  Smile [:)]

I think someone else is sneaking into the diner late at night and eating the Mississippi Mud Ice Cream Pies.  But with temps in the 100s I can't blame them.

I have 3 working days until a five day vacation to Missouri.   Big Smile [:D]

Duchess is sick and throwing up all over the floor.  By the time she lets me know she needs to go out I don't have time to get her outside.  Sad [:(]   I am not a happy camper.

Time to Go.

Lunch is ready for today:  we've got our usual Friday Fish Fry going, and the first batch of fish and
fries are just about ready to dish up.

Made extra tea and lemonade, and went and got several cases of Gatorade.

Morning/Afternoon everyone.....

Well, finally shut off the AC for the first time in over a week, it's only 70 degrees out, forecast high is 74.  Tanks of Gatorade and Squincher are still topped off (I fill them up every night after I get done with work).  Not supposed to get above 80 untill Monday which is figuring into my theory that every time I go to my parents, it get's hot.

Was a news story yesterday on what the mayor of Madison was going to do about the annual Halloween party, the plan this year is to close off the street, charge five bucks a head, and limit the crowd size to 50,000.  Talked with a friend of mine at work, we came to the conclusion that this would fly like a lead balloon, but we never go there anyway, we'll just have to see what happens.

See everyone later.

Randy, watch what you say about lead balloons. I believe it was The Who who witnessed another band in concert, and predicted that they'd crash like a lead balloon. Lo and behold, the band found out about it and re-named themselves Led Zeppelin (or so the story goes, I guess).

Yeah, Keith Moon and John Entwistle were a bit off on their prediction, weren't they?Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Quick triva Chris- which two bands were unlucky enough to follow Led Zeppelin in concert in 69-70?

Well, we had a nice thunderstorm awhile ago.  Clearing up now, at least for a bit.  Could possibly have
some more rain, wind, thunder, lightning later on.

I've got some more fish in the deep fryer, and in another deep fryer is fries.  Also have hushpuppies and
slaw, and for dessert, you can have your choice of apple, blackberry, or peach cobbler w/ice cream.

Well I am sorry that I didn't stop in here for the Venison burgers, and steak, I would of loved that!! I haven't had any venison since last hunting season! I NEED SOME MORE!! That is why I can't wait until hunting season comes again, it's not too long for that one.

As CW and Mutt have said we had a major thunder storm. CW and I watched the Lighting show, it was NEAT!!! The storm also cooled things down a bit which was nice.

Chris: Just did the Denver to Paonia to Delta and back to Denver thing. Be VERY careful between the I-70 tunnels and Idaho Springs on your way to Georgetown/Silver Plume. (Out at 5AM and back at 10 PM, severe case of roadbutt)...

We got Andy, the 17 year old Westie (White guy in the avatar) back from the vet yesterday. He is dealing with Cushing's Disease and maybe too many steroids from the Vet's earlier medications. Poor guy is the antithesis of Barry Bonds - no energy, weak (staggers around) and overly tested. We have to keep a good eye on him, help hold him up so he can eat and drink as well as direct him to the doggie door..Changing the I-V from gatorade to diet Jolt for the weekend.

Good Morning All

MC, so sorry to hear about Westie.  When they are sick it is no fun.  They may be animals to some, but to some of us they are like children.

Duchess is doing some better today.  She is eating, however little and picky, but seems to have more energy today than yesterday.  She has ceased throwing up after 2 to 3 days of it and now can hold down water.

We had  several cold fronts come through last night.  The first one did nothing but hide the sun for about an hour.  The second one dropped tons of rain but unfortunately it came down so fast and the ground was so hard that most of it was runoff.  It started after dark and dropped the temps a bunch.  My grass did get some benifit more it and is now somewhat a color of green.  It is amazing how quickly brown, dead grass can come back to life.

Two days to go until my trip to Missouri.  Smile [:)]   It certainly will be nice to get away for the week.  I will be back Friday afternoon and at work on Saturday.

I hope everyone is well.

Everyone Take Care
