Good Tuesday morning, everyone!!  Joe, thank you so very much for fixing breakfast this morning!!  Part
of the reason I'm so late getting in here today, is didn't get to bed until 4 a.m. this morning.  Will explain
in detail why, later on.

Nora, Happy Birthday! Happy B-Day [bday]   Nora, let me know if you'll be around, and what you'd like for your birthday supper!!  Whatever you want, I'll fix it up for you!

Going to be another scorching hot day for all of us.  That is, except for our friends to the north.Blush [:I]

Larry, bacon cheeseburers w/cheddar cheese, sounds very good for lunch.  Will start preparing the grill
in just a little bit.  With the cheeseburgers, we'll also have brauts and hotdogs, and fries.  Can't forget the
fries, now, can we?

Hello everyone. I think I'll have some lemonade, I'm worn out from all this heat and humidity we've got.

Mookie: I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to show up for breakfast this morning! Blush [:I] As I said yesterday, I have work study every weekday until next Thursday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and no computers are allowed. I hate to postpone things until July 27th, but I'm not sure what else to do. Is there any way you could come in on Saturday or Sunday?

I just don't know what to do! I'm invited in for a nice breakfast and railroad discussion and what do I do? I show up at 4:30 in the afternoon with the lame excuse that I was working at school (something that I never want to do during the summer again) to help pay for tuition. Shoot me an e-mail tomorrow and we'll figure something out.

Squincher is bottled by an independent company, I've seen it in soda cans as well as small pouches (tear off top, add water, drink).  As far as I know, it comes in orange, fruit punch, and lemon-lime, also saw grape when I worked for the railroad.  At Stoughton Trailer here in Wisconsin the company buys the stuff by the palletload.  The orange tastes a lot better than the same Gatorade flavor, and I believe the fruit punch is about the same.

Didn't get a drop of rain tonight, but had severe weather north and south of us.  Supposed to be about 85 tomorrow, with much lower humidity.

Thanks Randy.  We need rain down here big time, so if you can organize some to slip "down under" that would be good.Wink [;)]

Good Wednesday morning, everyone!  I tried to NOT pay attention to what our high was yesterday.  As
far as I was concerned, it was tooooo hot!

Coffee, juice and lemonade are ready.  Breakfast this morning:  sausage, biscuits, gravy, fried taters,
scrambled eggs, cantaloupe chunks.

Unless the forecast changes, we are to "cool down" Saturday, and be back in th mid 80s, temperature-
wise.

The three of us went down to the tracks last evening, but didn't see a cotton-pickin' thing.Sad [:(]

Everyone try to stay as cool as posible today, and make sure you keep plenty of liquids in you.

What would everyone like to have for lunch today?  Going to make today's lunch and supper a
"You ask, and you will receive it" day.

Well, up here in IL we had a relatively good weather day yesterday but today (Wed.) will be back in the nineties but this Saturday will top out around 78!  In the mean time we have a forecast of severe thunder storms tonight as a cold front barrels through.  Hurray for Saturday's forecast as it will definetly take me trackside on Saturday for a few hours, where I have not been for about three weeks.

CW - For lunch, I would like a green salad with mmmm grilled chicken on top.  Ranch dressing.  Maybe some fresh fruit mid morning?

Willy - not a problem on the breakfast.  CW and company sat with me so I wasn't alone.  We will get together before school starts and visit.  I am so excited.  You get to go to school and I don't have to.....  Big Smile [:D]

It was quite a surprise opening the door for the paper this morning - hard to breathe.  Now I know what Houston Ed means when he sez it is hard to breathe down there when the humidity is so high.  Ugh.  But I would still rather have this than the ice and below zero that we seem to attract.  Finally found some really "cool" places to visit  when it is hot.....(heading to the walk-in fridge)

Morning all, and a belated Happy B-Day [bday] to Nora! Hope you had a great one!

It's still been warm a mile up, but I really haven't had much of a chance to experience that (drat!) as I've been busy taking care of being two people at work (my boss is out of town, so I have to be him and me!). So I'm not sure, but heading out into the heat and going trackside just might be a reprieve!

Meanwhile, was playing around in Lightroom last night (I've posted another thread about this with links to the download). I think it's going to take a little getting used to, and there's still stuff that will only be done in Photoshop, but I really think there is a lot of potential, especially when it comes to streamlining ones workflow.

Well, I guess I had better be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

All the hot weather around (we've been pretty mild for the past few days, thank goodness) reminded me of another "shelter" function our FD social hall can fulfill - a "cooling center."  Heard them mentioned in stories about some city or another that was suffering record heat.  We are already on record as a shelter in case of other natural disasters.

A nice salad with chicken sounds good for lunch!

Soda is OK for slow rehydration and "recreational" use, but for serious rehydration, stick to sports drinks (such as Gatorade or Squincher) or just plain water.  Why?  Soda doesn't absorb into your body very fast, and many have caffiene - a diuretic, and hardly what you need if you're already dehydrated...  For rapid rehydration - two bottles of water and a bottle of sports drink (or the equivalent) in that order.

Mookie, Brian, and Larry, thanks for your suggestions.

We'll have garden salad with grilled chicken, and Ranch dressing for lunch.

For supper, I'm having White Castles deliver two 30 count cases of hamburgers, and two 30 count
cases of cheeseburgers.  Also, they'll be delivering two 30 count cases of chicken sandwiches.

I certainly hope they are not "muddy".   Laugh [(-D]

Mookie, if Willy makes ever makes it to your office make sure and show him a certain steam engine photo.  Smile [:)]

Anyone want any hot weather, I will be more than happy to share?  I will gladly trade a trainload of hot air for some nice cool Canadian air.  Right now it is 87 with a heat index of 94.  The actually temp is suspose to go up to 102.  Shock [:O]   I might have to use the bathtube as a pool this afternoon.  (Now where is that rubber Ducky?)

Our gas went up to $3.08 for premium unleaded recently.  Therefore, railfanning is pretty much a no go for a while.  I spent almost $45 the other day to fill up a Ford Ranger.  Thumbs Down [tdn]   Angry [:(!]

Our regular unleaded has been $3.07 for about a week so far.  Premium is ~ $3.17.  Black Eye [B)]  Why are you using premium unleaded gas in a Ford Ranger?  Mine, with the 4.0L, doesn't specify that kind of gas.  Wouldn't it be less expensive on regular 87 octane?

Good morning everyone. The high is supposed to be around 100 °F. today but with an ugly 50% humidity! Dead [xx(] I'm definitely staying in as much as possible for obvious reasons!

Like I said, I hope the refrigerator is stocked full of cold sodas, especially 7-Up and Coca-Cola Classic! Cool [8D]

EDIT: You might want to order more White Castle hamburgers--I love them! Approve [^]

So I spend lunch hour messing around in Lightroom. I re-processed this image using LR (as opposed to my previous workflow involving RAW conversion in RSE and sharpening tweaks and re-sizing in PS):

That's a picture of Puke (no, I'm serious...this is Puke, and he performs with Snot) taken at the Renaissance Fest over the weekend. Overall, I'm quite excited about LR, and it seems like it will provide a great means of processing pix (from RAW or JPG) when extensive work is not necessary on an image (that'll still require the use of Photoshop).

I would encourage all of you that do much picturating to download this (although beware...it does seem like a bit of a memory hog...but then again, so is Photoshop) Beta version. If you find features you'd like to see added, Adobe has a forum available for voicing your thoughts on what the retail version should be like. I've already suggested one big issue (they provide lens corrections for chromatic aberrations and vignetting, but no corrections for barrel/pincushion distortion, perspective corrections, etc.)

Meanwhile, I suppose I should head back to work. Catch you all later!

If I've got this figured out right, I should have lurked long enough to post the 15,000th "item" here.

Hot again tonight--chance to try out our new a/c.  I'm hoping the storms make it here to cool things down.  The warm temperatures have wiped me out to the point that I wasn't able to fully enjoy the relatively cool day we had yesterday.  Did have a great couple of hours with daughter and granddaughters, though--and the older one may turn into a railfan, after all!

As long as the virtual White Castles come with virtual bicarbonate, you should be OK.
