[bday], MC! Hope you have a great one!

Brian, glad you made it through the Warning without any problems. It's kind of paradoxical for me. I'm always chasing storms waiting for the day when I actually see a tornado...and yet how can I derive pleasure out of something that has the potential to cause so much grief? Whenever I do find my first one, I hope it's in the middle of nowhere out on the plains (and there's a lot of nothing out on the plains, too).

Joe and Mutt, indeed send any spares in the rain department back west. It's going to be a very long fire season if many western states don't start seeing some moisture soon.

Larry, my uncles were both assistant chiefs on a small volunteer FPD back in IL. They had a lot of stories like yours. Come to think of it, they had all kinds of stories about the fire dept. Some of them were pretty darn funny, too.

Well, must be off about my business. Once again, many happy B-day wishes, MC!

Good Morning All [:)]

Now I remember what else I wanted to say last night. The diner owes Mookie a nice supper. I bet she won't be having any chicken dishes tho. [;)]

And Chris gets a nice meal on us too. He started this page. [:)]

Well needless to say yesterday was not a good day for getting housework and yardwork done. [B)] So I better get going and accomplish something.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY M C and many more. [:D]

No chicken jokes please, they are getting a little fowl. [:o)] [:I] [:D]

[bday], MC! In honor of the occasion, I'll plant a couple of token candles in the chocolate cake I brought with me.[:D]

We're getting rewarded with a nice day today after putting up with the storms yesterday- rode the bicycle into work. Turned over 50 miles on the new odometer... yeah, Carl, I know, [(-D][(-D][(-D]!

OK - I would like - creamed tuna on toast (with hard-boiled eggs and celery), tuna salad sandwich, a slab of tuna on the grill and for dessert...............carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. (veggies you know)

Thanx Jim!

(no, sardines are not a substitute, either!)

Mookie, your suggestion for lunch sounds pretty good!! so. . .today's lunch is
creamed tuna on toast (and the hard-boiled eggs and celery are in the creamed
tuna), tuna salad sandwiches, and, before it starts raining, there's a few tuna
steaks on the grill. Two carrot cakes w/cream cheese frosting are for dessert.
And we have fries, in case anyone wants them with their sandwiches.

Now, if only the birthday man will come in, and let me know what he wants for
supper, I can get started fixing it!! [C=:-)]

MC, your wish is my command.

But, for anyone who doesn't want that, I've fixed a roast, potatoes & carrots,
green beans, and cole slaw. Maybe you'd like a little bit of that, also!!

And, mudchicken, you're NOT old yet!! You've got a looooong way to go,
yet, before you are old. I hope you've had a very good birthday, so far today!!

CW I think we are going to have to ban Mookie from the kitchen. Her cooking could get us "closed" by the Health Department. [:0] [B)] [8]

It might be safe to let her work the drink station tho. [;)] (That is since we have no alcohol. [;)] [:o)] [}:)] )

Afternoon All,

Thanks for the free meal ticket, Jim. Will be sure to use that!

Quentin, thanks as always for the kind words. The more I look at this picture and think about it, the more I think it was the definitive shot of the trip. I think I'm going to be printing that one at 11x14 and hanging it on the wall of fame (all my favorite shots) here in my office.

Brian, stopped by your gallery. Some really nice shots at the airshow. I liked the look at the tail end of the F-18. Kind of a neat excercise in bringing out the art in a set of angles. Thanks for sharing!

Well, must be off about my business. Have cantor practice at church, and then have a couple errands to run. Hope you all have a great evening!

Mudchicken;glad to see that you've survived long enough to at least make
it in and participate in some of the festivities in Honor of your [bday]

[and you can't be "Older Than Dirt",CW & I are closer to claiming that
title than you are.][(-D][(-D]

Brian(Ia.) enjoyed your Photos, especially the ones of THE "Blue Angels"
We enjoyed seeing them here in Louisville last month, even if it was
watching on TV and not live.[:)]

Chris,we would gladly send you some of the moisture, especially this
evening, but believe you'd have to take the "FOUL" weather
with it. We're under a severe T-Storm Warning all evening, and Southern
Indiana is being bombarded with Tornado Warnings as I type.[:(]

Your Signature picture is really outstanding, wouldn't mind having a
large one of those myself, hanging on the wall with our other Eagles.[8D]

Thanks for the good reviews on my airshow shots, guys. I try to get something alittle different every time I go to one, otherwise I'd get bored. I think the shot of the business end of the F-18 is my favorite. I was hoping the Air Force would provide an F-117 or B-2 fly-by, but no such luck this year (I was on a radio development project for the B-2 several years back, so I have a vested interest, but I've yet to catch one in the air with my camera).

I've gone blind!!!!!!

Oh.....

No - I guess it is just my eyes are leaking so bad, I can't see out of them. They feel like two pee holes in the snow (can I say that here?)

Got a new bed and they must have included ragweed in the mattress! But it sleeps like a board and while it will take some getting used to - don't have near the aches and pains I normally have when I get up.

Must bring up an old subject - went on vacation and got new neighbors while we were gone. So far - not too bad. 2 adults - 2 kids - 12 and 2 - and a flock of relatives. But - they are pretty quiet.

And - I figured out that somewhere after my generation, people took door-slamming 101 in school. We were taught - at the top of our parents lungs - not to slam doors. We lost that fine art somewhere in the 70's/80's.

Good thing as you age you lose your hearing - now you just "feel the earth move".

I, too, like Chris's picture. Now if I can just get the bird to visit our birdy baths! What an addition to the backyard wildlife!

That's it - time for @ [zzz]

Good Thursday morning all! Well, didn't see anything messed up in the yard this
morning, from last night's storms. Thank goodness for that. Cooled the temp really
good; made for some great sleeping last night.

Joe, thank you for getting the coffee going, and making the juice. Been trying to
get in here for 15-20 minutes. Seems like Trains computers are really running
slow this morning.

Breakfast: bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and biscuits.

Lunch today: open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters and gravy,
with green beans and tossed salad.

I'd like to thank y'all for the kind gift of rain you sent us for the weekend......[V]

No hard feelings, though. It probably means I can stay in and not worry about some of the stuff I was going to have to do - like officiate a waterball* tournament and deal with a parade. The recliner sounds much more inviting....

I'll have my usual.

*Waterball - two teams of from three to five players use fire hoses to push a tetherball along a 100' long wire, with the goal to pu***he ball all the way to the opponents end. Best of three games per match, expecting 20 teams, double elimination, so ~40 matches, up to 120 games. Wet.

Mutt / CW - Glad you guys made through the storms without any problems. Is it me, or has there been a lot more Severe Weather out east this year? I guess it makes sense. The Jet Stream that refuses to let us see very much in the way of anything but hot, dry high pressure is the same one that keeps pushing the storm track your way. Sigh...if only I could lasso that bugger and change it's path a bit we could change the weather for a lot of folks.

Mutt / Mook - Thanks for the comments on the picture. [:I] I was going to be taking this one down soon for another one. It's going to be hard to get rid of this one, though!

CW - You were the winner of the Top Of the Page Free Meal Giveaway! Congratulations! So I guess that means that we will all have to don the cook's uniform for one of these meals. I could break out the grill and do some Brats (with the prerequisite Saur *** of course) / Dogs / Burgers / and maybe even Chicken ([:O] Sorry MC!) for supper. Sides would be dill pickles, potato salad (sorry...might have to get this from the store...have never made this), and beans. To drink I've got some sun tea (both sweet tea and regular) as well as some homemade lemonade. Sound good?

Well all, have to be about my business. Hope you all have a great day!

Mook; you'll have to speak up,as I've become hard of hearing also (age thing)
Now about the "Earth moving" (under my feet) anything about the "Sky Tumblin'
Down"?

Larry;I know that you get WET when you participate in the "Waterball Games",
but don't the "Officating Persons" get just as WET ??[:-,]

Chris; don't know if our "severe weather" is/has been any worse than normal (?)
this year, but last nights storms sort of dropped down from the north west into
our area making it a "bit" rougher than normal. Generally speaking, all of our
storms come in from the west and south west. As far as right here, sometimes
the Ohio River really does make the exact dividing line. Last night, anything right
on,and south of the river basically just had strong gusty winds and heavy rain;
although several local fire departments had reports of lightning striking several
structures. North of the river there were several reportsof funnel clouds (no confirmation)
and some severe wind damage.

Good Morning All

Well today is again . . . my Monday. [:(]

Chris [^]

Potato Salad is easy to make. Just boil your potatoes, boil some eggs (hard boiled), dice you cooled potatoes into bite sized chunks, dice the eggs, add pickle relish (I use sweet relish), and add mayonnaise. That is a basic potato salad. You can add many other things to suit your taste such as a diced apple, celery, bacon bits, some people add mustard, and you can even add a small package of green peas and carrots to give it a little color. Some people actually ma***he potatoes and have mashed potatoe salad. It is ok too.

You can make a macaroni salad pretty much the same way, or a pasta salad too. Both of these are good also. Actually a pasta salad sounds pretty good right now. [:p]

Somehow I knew that CW would have the top of the page today. Congrats CW [:)] .

One time when I worked as a cook in a restaurant we made a Monte Christo sandwich. The odd thing about this sandwich was that it was dipped in a egg batter and cooked over the fire just before serving. Another thing I had to make was a "Chick" [:D] [:o)] [:D] Pea salad. Don't worry MC, your safe on this one. Some of you probally know Chick Peas as Garbanzo Beans. [:)] They are a marble sized brown peas that are very dry. I always pass on eating a Chick Pea salad.

Well Everyone Take Care

Depends a lot on which way the wind is blowing. Last year it changed in the middle of the tournament and I did get soaked - of course I hadn't bothered donning my bunker pants and boots....[4:-)]

It also depends on how accurate the teams are, and whether any of them have it in for the officials...[}:)]

Mutt - no ceiling plaster yet. But they must have a whole house full of cracked doors.
Seems to go with that side of the duplex.....

Jim - we used to do Monte Cristos...I put them in the same category as waffle with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce over the whole thing - GAG!

And they always thought I was 1/2 story short cuz I liked my patty melt dunked in blueberry syrup. Yum!

Chris & Jim, thanks for the "congrats." Didn't know I started a new page: thought I
was on the bottom of 709!!

Our lunch of the open-faced roast beef sandwiches is now ready.

Supper tonight: fried pork chops w/your choice of mashed taters and gravy, or
seasoned rice w/herbs. Just might make up some potato salad, for an extra
side dish. ( I make mine with Kraft Miracle Whip Salad Dressing and a tad bit
of mustard, to give it a little color.)
