Mook - Still amused about Driver's comment about the arrival of MC confirmed by seeing a scottie driving a white truck into the parking lot of the gorilla joint[:D][:D][:D]

PS - got home and let Gus out of the truck. Spent the next hour chasing after Gus who was chasing Ms. RedFox up the street at 1AM. She had no trouble outrunning Gus, but was getting annoyed that he wouldn't give up the chase and she couldn't lose him.

Morning All,

Sorry about the tardy entry. Think I'm going to grab a cup of coffee and try to unbury myself under the avalance of plans I found myself in. Will try to check in on lunch.

The picture I am imagining is just too funny!

Just what you want to do after an all day excursion through Nebraska!

Driver will figure if dog is smart enough to drive, he is smart enough to elude a running chicken and just too short of legs for the fox!

You made our day, again!

Looks like we've had a sloooow day in here. So, for supper, we will have
burgers and fries. Have some strawberry pie left, and if anyone is tired of
that, we also have some fresh baked/frosted chocolate cake.

Getting ready to watch Trains and Locomotives at 6 p.m. EDT. It's
supposed to be on the Indiana Railroad inter-urban system. Should be
interesting.

Chris, love your new sig. pic!!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. Well, looks like it's just me in here this morning.
Guess I'll be doing the decorating for tomorrow all by my lonesome. At least, until
Joe comes in. We'll be having two celebrations tomorrow.

Coffee and juice are ready. Breakfast: BLT sandwiches. Got them fixed, and waiting
in the cooler. Please help yourself, and I'll be back after Produce.

Morning All,

Well, it seems like someone left the oven on Broil again here in Denver. Supposedly 94 today and nearing the century mark tomorrow. Sigh...watching the race at Pocono and seeing the 60* temps and "fall like weather" made me quite envious.

Oh well, guess it could be worse. My thoughts and prayers go out to Florida and everybody else along the gulf / atlantic as hurricane season gets going here. Hope the forecasters are wrong about it being another bad one...

Well, must be off to take a plan off.

Good Morning All

I think I missed something but that is ok, as I am not awake yet. I got busy this morning and forgot to start the coffee. I am one of those people who can get up and walk around but are not awake. I had a roommate once who took forever to wake up, but when his feet finally hit the floor he was up and running.
It takes me 3 cups of coffee to wake up.

Well Duchess has an appointment with her "doctor" this morning. She has developed a small growth just about one inch from her right eye. It doesn't seem to bother her but I am a little concerned as it seems to grow a little every day.

The ants are pesky again this year. They have sent scouts into the house in small numbers. I have been "fighting" them. I have won many small battles but the war is not over yet. They are amazing little creatures. I watched 2 or 3 of them, while I was at work last night, try to carry a small piece of a potato chip. In our ready track shack we have an apartment size icebox. Someone has spilled some small parts from the bottom of the bag on it. They carried it to the edge of the icebox and tried to start carrying it down the edge. However, it fell. But their determination and grit are really something. Some people could learn a lot from watching how hard they work.

Well I must be off.

Everyone Take Care

Well, we served 72 people at Produce today. Got potatoes, sweet green peppers
and berry berry juice. That was it today.

Quentin, yes, we did watch program on the Indianana Railway. It was a very, very
good program. They mentioned and showed Munie and Seymour, along with the
line that crosses the K&I Bridge, and mentioned the Big Four Bridge. Will write more
on it later. Got to make a quick trip out to do a couple of errands, but will be back in
a couple of hours.

Lunch: got some roast beef/lettuce/tomato sandwiches and cream of tomato soup.

Also got plenty of coffee, lemonade, and iced tea.

Dessert today: strawberry shortcake.

Sure hope there's going to be some people in here for supper tonight. I haven't
been cooking all afternoon for my health, you know.

Supper tonight will be: country fried steak, steak fries, mashed taters w/gravy,
green beans, whole kernal corn, and a nice tossed salad.

Dessert: apple cobbler w/ice cream.

Morning everyone......

Wow, I haven't seen it this dead in here for quite some time, everyone must have been out getting things done before it gets hot for the weekend. Forecast here is to hit 90 come Saturday, and stay warm and humid for some time.

Seeing as apparently no one stopped in for dinner, I'll take a plate for myself and take a little bit of everything, CW. I appreciate the home cooking here in the diner.

Come to think of it, has anyone seen Sarah lately? Don't recall hearing from her in a few days. Then again, I don't recall much from the last few days.

See everyone later in the morning, and the coffee machine is running for those who need it, I don't touch the stuff myself.

Ahem: Yowl, Yowl, Yowl Yowl......

Ok - need some of Randy's coffee. How can you make something you don't drink and how do you get your motor running?

Be back in for the - ahem - Yowlfest. Headin' for the garden where it has to be a little cooler.

Randy, thanks for putting the coffee on. Juice is ready to go, also.

Well, we have TWO birthdays to celebrate here in the Diner today:

1. HAPPY FIFTH BIRTHDAY to Matt Kohnen!! and
2. HAPPY TWENTIETH BIRTHDAY to Sarah (CSXrules4eva)!!

To celebrate these two special people's birthdays today, we're having
pancakes and sausage for breakfast.

There is a chocolate birthday cake for Matt, and a yellow cake with white
frosting. Both cakes have blue and green designs on them.

Got the a.c. on in here, so it should be nice and cool for everyone in here
today.

[bday], Matt and Sarah!

Gotta run here, my workload both here at work and at home has suddenly escalated, so I'll be scarce for awhile. Part of the reason is that my son has notified us that they're moving from LA to Florida via Cedar Rapids (for a few days) in late August, and we want to take the opportunity to hold an open house for them to celebrate their marriage back in May. As you may surmise from that, all the fix-it projects I've got on my wish list just got a priority bump.

Also, a heads-up to Chad- they're going to need my assistance in moving whatever stuff they can't sell, which will require me to make a road-trip to LA with the minivan starting on the 18th of August. If everything goes according to the tentative plan we've made, I might be available for some limited mutual railfanning on the evening of the 20th. I'll keep you posted...

Happy Birthday to all the birthday people. Man, it seems like it has only been a year...

Super weather this morning. I see by the weather bug that the temps are rising for the weekend. Thought for a while that we could keep the heat in Colorado, but I guess that is not to be.

Hope this doesn't bug Brian too much, but since our big open house-graduation party is past, all the major house project are over (at least for now). In fact, the cleanup is complete as of this morning when our refuse company picks up about three times the usual amount of garbage and recycle stuff.

I'll take another cup of coffee out to the deck next to the track and get some sun.

Tip Top of the Morning All,

First off [bday] to Matt and Sarah! Hope you both have a great one!

Well, we hit 99 yesterday (sorry about the exports Jay...didn't think it was right not to share! [:P]). I think I'm going to have to head up to the high country this weekend and find someplace cooler. (There's around a 3.5ºF drop in temperature for every 1000 feet gained in altitude). So ignoring all other weather phenomena, heading up to Bear Lake (a little above 9000 feet above sea level) in RMNP would mean a drop of about 14 degrees from Denver. Of course, there's usually a lot of clouds and/or rain (and occasionally even snow) up in RMNP, so the high temperature can actually be 20-25 degree or more different!

'Tis been said, if you don't like the weather in Colorado you need only wait 15 minutes or drive 15 miles and it'll change! Sometimes it's not much of an exaggeration!

Well, must be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

I'm early today posting the lunch menu. For lunch, in honor of our little birthday boy,
we'll have burgers, hot dogs and fries. Along with his chocolate birthday cake for
dessert. I know Matt won't have any trouble blowing out his six birthday candles (you
know, five, plus one to grow on)![:o)][:o)]

There's also going to be a special supper, which will be served around 5 EDT today.
In fact, some people might just think that I think it's Saturday around here!!

Don't think I've ever seen birthday candles that looked like fries!

[bday] To both!

Chris - I think some of that warmth might finally be headed east - decent weekend forecast, if Alberto can manage to stay out of our picture.

Network down this morning, so couldn't stop by till now.
