You'll have to talk to the cook about the stove, but whatever the needs are, we can put it into the virtual improvment budget.

We already have the vibration pretty much taken care off. The Mudchicken had a gang in to lay down CWR just before the place was opened and he has the track gang in to touch up the surface just about every other day.

Forgot to mention that a big truck stop is going up off the Interstate about a mile out of town and a station is being built right there for the light rail. You could probably make big bucks betting your trucking buddies that you know of a railroad depot that offers way better than truck stop food. Of course they can get the trucker's discount, though it isn't quite as good as the railroaders discount, but then you know they've got bunks in their trucks. Nothing like that on a freight train.

I have been thinking about the pool and perhaps some other improvements to our property. Actually maybe a complete redo. It would take a large amount of virtual money from the large virtual profits of the DD&CS, and we may have to kick in some of our vast virtual wealth to get the job done, but here goes.

Completely restore the depot to its historic as new state.
Rebuild the passenger platforms with hidden hydralic lift systems so that there will be ADA compliance no matter what type of equipment is used with our passenger service. (That lets us not be held up by the FRA while those [:o)][:o)][:o)] try to figure out a standard platform height configuration that will work for every passenger car type now in use.)
Set well back and off to the side, build a first class motel in an archetectural style of the depot. Ample number of rooms with great views of the railroad, soundproof rooms on the street side for non-railfan spouses and children.
Between the motel and the tracks a landscaped area with a fountain and patios for seating, viewing and outside dining. Further off to the side the pool, maybe tennis courts, a rec area for younger children with extremly attractive fencing for safety.

Pets allowed! Huge discounts for train crews and forum members.

Heck, the total cost would be much less than rebuilding the MILW PNC extension.

One more idea. We relocate the Mall of America about 10-15 miles away with The Hiawatha Light Rail line providing service between there and the Depot. That takes care of the teenagers in our family. "Mom, Dad, when are we going back that train place you guys like so much?"

(The last few brain cells are now shutting down for the weekend. Have a good one.)

Jay

Paul,
They left the PTRA yesterday morning on the BN318 yard transfer to BNSF's South Yard.
What train they will leave on from there is anyone guess, but they were not there this morning at 06:00 when I went by on the way to work.
They are shipping on BN, so you may want to check their website, but bet on them going through Forth Worth.

Good Afternoon Everyone: I just stopped in after leaving the coffee shop over in the MR forum. Happy to see a few familiar faces here.

The reason I stopped in was to ask if anyone had any information on when and what route the Chinese steam locomotives were going to take north. I live just west of Ft. Worth and if they are going to come through there I'd make an effort to get to see them. If you would drop me a note, please. I'll stop in once in a while to see what is cooking.

Thanks

{Puts on "World's Greatest Dad" Hat} Thank you all very much. Son & daughter-in-law are too far away for a visit, but daughter and her Dalmatian are in the house for the weekend, and of course, my old pup is always around.

Breakfast sounds good. Steaks on the grill is the afternoon meal! Since all Dads are excellent chefs on the grill, we'll be doing the cooking! Potato salad is all ready to go, along with other picnic foods. The weather is always great at the diner, so no problems there.

CW Just put it on the account with the meat supplier.

I have been thinking we need to do something a little nicer to bring in the couples crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. So adding some Prime Rib and a few cuts of Porterhouse, N. Y. Strip, Rib Eye, etc., and some nice seafood like shrimp scallops, and some "tail" (lobster of course) [:o)] should do the trick. We can order some nice size baked potatoes and add some simple desserts that look realy fanstatic but are simple to make like Strawberries Galliano .

Sounds like a plan to me. AND we can even use the new outdoor balcony that overlooks the mainline and passenger depot. [:D] It is really a nice place to eat after dark with the candles on the tables and dim lighting that add to the atmosphere. I really think the more romantic will enjoy it much.

Well off I go.

Everyone Take Care

PS CW I love the new cook's moto. [:D]

Do you mean you have never been on the new balcony and ordered from the new menu? I just spend a ton of money so the Friday and Saturday night couples crowd could eat outside and enjoy the view (trains, etc.,).

I am soooo dissappointed that you didn't notice it. [:(]

Jim, I haven't forgotten about our new balcony. I'm just so busy doing the
cooking, that I haven't had a chance to get out on it!! Think I could get a
couple of full time helpers in here?!?!

And as for the new Friday & Saturday night menus, they're always ready
for all the couples. We just need to get the couples to come in together on
those two nights!![;)]

Well, I surely do hope that all you Dads are enjoying your day.

The grill is still going, and there's plenty of steaks that are ready to be eaten, along
with all the side items.

I even made several quarter sheet cakes with HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
written on them. And there is plenty of different flavors ice cream to go with the
cakes. You've got the following cake flavors to enjoy:

1. chocolate
2. white
3. yellow
4. Missisippi Mud cake.

Big long lunch about an hour south with my two for fathers day and then a late nap so I just got back over here about an hour ago. Looks like I might not have been the only one out with the family for the day, but this will get the DD&CS back to page one where it belongs.

Think I'll sit on the balcony, have a piece of the yellow cake, a little icecream and a glass of milk. (Can't do coffee in the evening if I want to sleep.)

Thanks, CW

Good Monday morning to everyone!! Hope all you Dads enjoyed your day yesterday.
Kind of sounds like you did. We got some rain also yesterday. Nothing very heavy,
just enough to keep you inside. Which was kind of nice.

Breakfast this morning: bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits
and sausage gravy are up.

Everyone have a great day

Morning All

CW, I didn't mean you. I knew you had not forgotten about the balcony that was finished about the 2nd of June. I just was in a hurry to find a post about it and that one won the hurry up contest. [;)]

I am in a hurry today too. Monday is my Friday and I work the ready track tonight. I also cook for the 3 of us in the shack so I have to make a "Kroger" run this morning. We had more rain yesterday.

I emailed some of you a very nice song/video from Diamond Rio. The song is called, In God We Still Trust. If you have dial up like me, it will take almost a half hour to download, however, it is worth it. This song and video is AWESOME. If you did not receive it and want to see it, just email me at jhhtrainsplanes@aol.com and I will email it to you. I watched this thing about 10 times then Zach called so I talked to him, otherwise, I probally would have watched it several more times. [:)] Thanks Q for sending it to me.

Well, hope you all had a great weekend, and a belated "Happy Father's Day!" to all the dads out there.

Spent most of the weekend working around the house so I can have some playtime next weekend. Also starting to think about a 4th of July excursion down towards the CO/NM border to catch the C&TS.

Well, I suppose I had better get to work. Hope you all have a great one. TTFN!

Well, had a very nice Father's Day - visit from daughter and all, and the weather was beautiful, if hot and muggy.

As for today, NWS just issued a severe t'storm watch, and judging by the weather radar, I'd better bring in the laundry off the line. Don't mind the storms, though, and rain is usually a good thing. At least it held off until after the weekend!

Will probably head south for some more train time next weekend.... For now, I have to see if I can get the dog in for her shots - it's that time again!

Kitty only takes shots - she doesn't accept them.

Are we getting an automatic hammock swinger? A snack machine with kibbles? A milk chiller? A warm spot in the sun with a comfy sofa to lie on? A beauty shop to do fur and nails? A fur store? Cosmetics store? Catnip shop? Jewelry store - ah - most important!

I love upgrades!

Hello again, all. Just got back from the library. Took one book back, and got Mutt and
myself four or five books each. Should take care of us for awhile.

Lunch today: macaroni salad, tuna salad, turkey salad (notice a theme here?), chips
or fries, and for dessert: leftover Happy Father's Day cakes from yesterday.

Afternoon everyone......

Had nasty weather up here yesterday, lots of tornado warnings, one was sighted near Stoughton (not again!!!), another one near Hartford took the roof off of an elementary school, and lots of rain again yesterday (not good for my dad, he replanted a field that flooded out, only to have the same thing happen again!!).

Had a good weekend in the free poker tournaments here in Madison, I placed 15th, 5th, and 12th in the three I played in, got enough points to get me entered in the final tournament on Thursday, too bad I have to work. Oh well, the last five games I've played in I have finished in the points, which is really good for me.

As soon as someone can get me the virtual plans, I'll see about getting the permits (which should be a lot easier in the virtual world) and line up the contractors to make the improvements.

See everyone later.
