Joe, thanks for the steak idea!! And Walt (Mutt), thank you for firing up the grill, and
getting the steaks started. To go with the steaks, we've got baked beans, corn on
the cob, garden salad, and tater chips.

And yes, we have STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE for dessert tonight!!

Jim, so glad to hear that your puter started back working on it's own!! I know that can
be a real pain in the neck!!

I'll have mine to go tonight - headed for a meeting. Hopefully that strawberry shortcake is on nice fresh, warm sourdough biscuits!

I've got a Mediacom cable modem connection here, and I'll never go back to anything else.

Sorry I missed dinner, the weather's too nice today. I'll try some of that strawberry shortcake, though!

Oh, and mark your calendars, starting next Tuesday I'll provide the cake.

Chocolate.

Every night.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone! Boy, it just isn't the same without the Mookster
in here. I think everyone thinks it's vacation from the Diner time!! NOT so!! We still
need everyone else in here.

Breakfast this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, sausage gravy and home made
buttermilk biscuits. There is honey to put on the biscuits, after you've melted some
butter on biscuit. Practically melt in your mouth. And there's fresh strawberries, too.

Lunch will be served out on the patio today: I'll be grilling burgers, and hotdogs
for lunch, and the sides will be: cole slaw, potato salad, chips, and more strawberry
shortcake for dessert.

Supper tonight will be: roast beef, taters, carrots and onions, with side dishes of
green beans and cole slaw (or potato salad) and a nice chocolate cake for dessert.

Cheeseburger with, please. I'll dress it myself [dinner]...

All scheduled up to run on the Adirondack all Memorial Day weekend (at Thendara). Two runs a day. Starting assignment is "car host." We'll see how quickly we can work up the scale.

Good Afternoon All,

Just had to pop in and say "Hi." Got back from Yellowstone last night. Sorry didn't post anything as promised. The Wireless internet at the campground was terrible at best.

I will endeavour to get some shots posted ASAP. I've got to wade through the 600+ images I took though first. It was a great trip though. The wildlife was out of this world. Off the top of my head, I saw the following: Bison, elk, coyotes, wolves, black bears, grizzly bears, whooping cranes, moose, mule deer, marmots, fox, pronghorn antelope, trumpeter swans, herons, osprey, and probably lots more that I know I'm forgetting.

Didn't get a chance to go railfanning, unfortunately. Hopefully will have some time to go railfanning next weekend (Headed to Steamboat Springs for the long weekend). One of my first stops is going to be the Georgetown Loop to see if they've got #9 fired up yet.

Hope you are all well.

TTFN!

WoW!! I can't belive how dead it is here in the diner today. I guess it's because the Mookster isn't in here. BUT....the food is still good anyway so that is why I am here today. lol

Well, my first couple of days back at work (I work at a diesel servicing facility) have been very exhausting. But, I just received word today that I am going to face a promotion into management, instead of being out on the floor. So, I'll be dealing directly with the customer. OH my I guess I should welcome myself to the great world of "The customer's always right".

Chris: On Monday I did an over and back to Glenwood. Monday morning they had lit the boiler and moved #9 out of the shop to keep the heat outside. At 7:30 PM going back east it was back inside with no sign of smoke out of the shop building.

Got cold cereal set out this morning, and there's oatmeal and toast. Also
have some fresh strawberries (that haven't had sugar added to them) to
go with your cereal this morning.

Mornin' All

I am waiting on a call from Zach and company to say they are up. We have some unfinished sight seeing from yesterday to do. I hope they call soon.

The weather is hot and sunny. I think that is better than cold and rainey especially since the 844 is here.

I need more coffee. [B)]

MC,

Thanks for the info. I've been waiting a long while to see that bugger running "over the loop." The Hawaiian Prairie is cute, but just doesn't seem to fit.

CW, the fresh strawberries on the cereal were wonderful!

Well, have to get to work. Hope you all have a great day.

Brian and Joe, sorry that I forgot to mention that the coffee was ready, and had
the juice made. Wasn't quite awake this morning, when I posted breakfast.

Lunch today will be: open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters and
beef gravy. Side dishes will be green beans, corn, cole slaw and applesauce.

Does anyone have any requests for supper tonight?

CW,

A favorite recipe from a bacehlor's perspective (e.g. easy to make and not to bad to eat, either):

English Muffin Pizzas

Get a pack of English muffins, slice them in half and place them on a cookie sheet. Add pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese (or provolone or whatever your prefer on your pizzas) and whatever other toppings you would prefer.

Place in an oven pre-heated to 375*F and cook for about 10 minutes.

Voila! Little personal pizzas that are delicious and so fantastically easy to make that even this bachelor can handle it! Need a hand in the kitchen tonight?

Post Scriptum:

Following the above recipe but substituting pie filling (apple is my fav) for the pizza sauce and icing for the cheese yields a great dessert pizza that usually receives high acclaim when I bring them out for guests.

Chris, like the sound of your pizza recipe! So for anyone who would like a pizza tonight,
we'll have that. And Dan, for you and anyone else who wants steak and baked potato,
I'll fix that also. They'll be ready at 6:30 EDT.

Those pizzas sound yummy. I'll take three or four of 'em with supreme ingredients. Chris, a recipe that I like to throw together once in a while that's simple but tasty- browned hamburger, grated-up Spam (yes, Spam), grated cheese, and your favorite spaghetti sauce mixed together and spooned onto half-buns, put onto a cookie sheet and baked in the oven for, oh, 12-14 minutes. Makes GREAT pizzaburgers!

Steak? Baked Potato? Where's my plate?!?!?

Visited a favorite restaurant last weekend - a specialty there is their "Baked Potato Soup," which is one reason we went there in the first place. They were all out ....[V]
