Good Friday morning, everyone! Well, it's the Holiday Weekend. Will need to
take a head count, and see who all will be with us this weekend. May have to
have our Saturday Pizza Fest tonight, instead, if most everyone is going to be
elsewhere over this long weekend. So, please, let me know how many of you
I need to cook for this weekend, okay?

Coffee is ready, and juice is made. Have orange juice, pineapple juice,
and orange tangerine juice available this morning.

Breakfast this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns,
sausage gravy, and the last of the fresh strawberries.

Had some wild weather here last night. Lots and lots of thunder, lightning, and
tons and tons of rain. Some of our water rescue people are now on their way
down to a litle town called Irvington, in Breckinridge County, to search for a toddler,
who got swept away in the waters last night. They found his mother out in a field.
People need to watch, and stay away from raging water in severe thunderstorms!!

There are about 22,500 people without power this morning. Thankfully, our lights
never flickered once.

A lot of people here are turning the three day holiday into a four day event, so today should be nice and peaceful here at work. Rain in the forecast today (with thunderstorms), and in a new development - rain in the forecast tomorrow now. The rest of the weekend should be decent. Hopefully lots of folks will want a train ride through the Adirondack forest and I'll have plenty of reason to volunteer there this weekend.

CW,

Glad to hear that you made it through the night unscathed. I'll be hanging around this weekend, as we have nothing more than a few graduation parties to keep us occupied. And, as a bonus, even though the Mookster is still MIA, I'll even bring in the chocolate cake on Sunday, complete with Birthday candles on it!

Morning, all!

Thought I'd pop my head in here for breakfast. Mmmmm! Yummy stuff.

Although I missed the festivities at Rochelle, I did have an opportunity to meet Eric (kenneo) and his wife at GorgeRail. Very nice people, and it was a pleasure to have lunch with them!

This weekend my husband and I are off to Indy. Something about powerful engines that just appeals to me... Go figure, right?

Anyway, I'd better get back to work or you won't get your August issues on time. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Mornin" All

I was up early to see the 844 depart. It is now gone. [^] [:(] <Mixed emotions>

Zach and company are back in Missouri and they had a very enjoyable trip and time. Now I can take it somewhat easy for a few days and get some rest. I will have to work and am "Forced" to work the holiday day. [:(] So that nixes my planned trip to see the parents. [:(!]

Well I am "thinking" about a quick nap before lunch. [;)] Is the hammock available?

Morning All,

Brian, thanks for the recipe for the pizza burgers. Will be sure to try that one out!

Kathi, good to see you in here! Stop by for breakfast more often.

CW, I'll be out for the weekend. Headed up to Steamboat Springs for the holiday. If I have time, I'm going to try and stop at the Georgetown Loop to see if I can see #9 on her home rails. Also might do a little looking around the Moffat Line on the way up.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Remember to stop a minute to remember those who have given all that we may enjoy the freedoms that we do.

Lunch today: have some fried fish, and am also baking some fish for lunch today.
Also, we have the fries to go with the fish, and cole slaw.

Joe, after this very warm day today, that lemonade certainly hits the spot!!
Thank you for thinking of making it. Guess that's going to have to go on
the ole shopping list after the first of the month: we'll certainly need to be
keeping plenty of lemonade on hand.

Brian and Cannonball, there will be plenty of chocolate cake and ice cream
on hand this weekend. Along with iced tea and lemonade.

Joe, we watched that episode of T&L Monday night. That was a very good
one! Had steam and diesels in it.

And Joe, thank you for making the coffee and the juice this morning. To go
along with them, we've got doughnuts and muffins this morning. Thought
that would be a nice treat for this weekend.

Mornin' All

I didn't notice this yesterday but Joe started the 700th page.

CONGRATS Joe. [:D] Keep up the good work there. [^]

In the Model Railroader Coffee Shop if you start the page you buy the drinks for everyone in the shop that day. I think we will do it different here. If you start the next page everyone buys YOU drinks. [:D] [8D] [:D] Now isn't that a better deal? [:D] [:o)] [:D]

Soooooo Joe, what will you have? I have your first one. [:)]

I must say, yesterday's nap was well needed and sure was nice. [^] I don't nap during the day (on purpose [;)] ) but I sure did yesterday.

When Zach gets his photos up I will share a link with you all. I sure hope that tall cotton picker ( 6' 1") didn't get me in many of his photos. I can't be held responsible for breaking his camera if he did. Trust me though, he had a very enjoyable trip and was thrilled to get into some of the places where he normally could not have gone. [;)] Just remember the Beatles song, "With A Little Help From Your Friends." [:D] Or that might be better said, "I Got Friends In Low Places." LOL [:o)]

Well here we are at the end of the month and time to write the "first of the month" checks. [:(] I hear the eagle flew early this time. [:p] Mine did. [:)]

Well, I just finished making some fresh lemonade and iced tea. Now, I'm working
on making up the pizzas for tonight's Pizza Fest. I'm only making two extra
large of each of the different pizzas.

So, hope there's some people in here, about 7, 7:30, when the pizzas will be ready
to eat.[C=:-)]

Gretings from Chocolate City USA!!

Enjoying a nice, but humid, weekend at my parents, got together with some friends last night and went to Chocolatefest, wasn't bad, tried something different in the beer tent (I'm not a very big beer drinker, but this brew tasted really good). Might go down later to catch the hydroplane boat races and other festivities.

I never did say anything about the rain we had on Wednesday night, got an inch and a half of rain in about twenty minutes that evening, was blowing so hard it got wet about 70 feet inside the building at work.

I've heard quite a bit of CN action so far this weekend, but I miss the deep rumble of the Wisconsin Central SD45s, now it's just a low moan across the fields from the V16 power.

If I may suggest something for breakfast tomorrow morning, the local Kiwanis club members are throwing a pancake breakfast, I'll try to divert some of their cooking towards the diner!![dinner]

See everyone later.

Nothin' like some pizza after a long day on the rails (not to mention two hours one way to get there).

We hauled over 70 riders total on two trips - not a bad crowd for the first day. The regular locomotive for the trip, NYC RS3 8223, is down for parts, so an SW1, painted as NYC 705, did the honors. Struggled a bit on a couple of grades, but we got there and back. The 705 started life in 1941 as L&N 14.

Back at it tomorrow - hope we have just as good a crowd!

Sorry I'm late- any supreme left? Had a very enjoyable day helping serve at one graduation party, then hitting another one, in spite of the light showers and windy conditions. At least it didn't get nearly as warm as they were predicting. Tomorrow I guess will be a different story, as hot temps are a pretty sure bet.

Hey Randy, bring any chocolate for the rest of us?[:D]

Good Sunday morning, everyone! Well, we get to celebrate a birthday here in
the Diner today:

[bday] to Brian(IA)!! [bday] [bday] [bday]

There will be plenty of birthday cake! Brian's bringing a chocolate cake, and
I've made a chocolate birthday cake, along with a white cake w/ white icing,
decorated with birthday wishes.

Breakfast this morning: pancakes w/syrup (maple syrup & blueberry syrup),
and your choice of sausage or turkey bacon.

Brian, let me know what you'd like for your birthday dinner, okay?
