Mookie, too bad you didn't catch any fish. We'd have them tomorrow for the
Friday Fish Fry. Know you'll enjoy having Ed and Aimee visit in October!!

Jim, looks like your rain from last night, has made it to Louisville. We're
getting a little bit of rain right now, along with thunder boomers and lightning.

So looks like the grilling out will have to wait. Instead, for lunch and dinner,
we're having beef roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, and beef gravy. Do you
want biscuits, rolls, or cornbread with the roast?

And we've got plenty of apple cobbler and blackberry cobbler left from last
night for dessert.

jhh I woke up several times in the night to booms also...but mine were from some kids throwing eggs at my windows! They didn't think it was so funny when I snuck out the other side of the house and shot video of them doing it then followed them home quietly. After they got inside I called the PD. After they knocked on the door waking up mom and dad who vehemently denied that their little ones would ever do that. The cop asked if they'd like evidence and they got to watch the video. Oh man that was fun! Plus I got a check for the broken window. So I'm happy!

cw could you grill my term paper for me? Maybe that'd be easier than typing it! LOL

You have given many of us untold pleasure with that tale - many's the time I've wished I could do exactly that. You can bet the kids stock with mom and dad went down a couple of points...

Not that I want you to work harder, but is one of the choices "All of the above"?

P.S. Dan, I love your .gif in your sig, as it forces the formatting on my PC screen to use wider margins for the forum posts. Otherwise, my IE seems to think it needs to put everything in a narrow column that leaves a couple of inches of blank screen on either side.

Greetings from the campus of Butler University in wonderful Indianapolis, Indiana. Matt it doing the registration thing today and I think he has his babe meter on, but he hasn't reported any results yet. Seeing that the forum members haven't established a scholarship fund for children of forum members, I will start digging for gold in the back yard as soon as I get back to Delavan. Either that or I will have to be eating here every day just to take advantage of the good prices on the menu.

Ah, it is a worthy effort.

Have a good day.

Brian (bhanel), fortunately for you, I did make all the bread items listed. Decided
to give everyone their choice of bread for tonight.

Sarah, hope you have a good, safe trip going to pick up your cap & gown tonight.
Not much longer, and you'll be out of college. Way to go, girlfriend!![^][:D]

At 8:10, we are still getting a light rain. Been that way most of the day. Looks like
it'll continue through tomorrow into Saturday morning. Heard the Blue Angels
fly over a couple of times today. Haven't seen any of the Apache helicopters
that are also in town for the air show Saturday for Thunder over Louisville.
We'll be watching some of it on TV. No way will I go and fight those crowds and
traffic!!

They're scheduled to make an appearance in the Quad Cities Air Show June 3-4, an event that I like to attend. I missed last year's, as it was the same weekend as Galesburg's Railroad Days. Priorities, you know...

Cuppa tea and a bearclaw, please. I see the hammock is occupied, with a large "Do Not Disturb" sign to boot.

Rain for this weekend (and Monday - my day off). No problem on Saturday, I have plenty to do inside. Sunday AM I have a lot of outside stuff, though. At least I'll be wearing my fire gear, although I don't like the idea of my Rebel in the rain.. The laddies will be playing with real fire, though, so there should be some interesting pictures.

cod, hallibut, catfish, along with popcorn and butterfly shrimp. We also have these

Morning All

We had another night of rain minus the light and sound show. The night before yielded a little over 1/2 inch. I have not heard about last night's totals as yet, but my yard is a swamp (lots of red clay that does not drain very well).

The truck is now clean though. [:D] Sarah, sending the free truck wash your way now. Enjoy it. [;)] And Congrats on finishing school. It is all downhill from there. [:o)] Funny how when are are young we can't wait to get out of school, and as we grow older we wish we had it so good as being in school. [:0] [B)] [8]

Dan, sorry to hear about your window. I am glad you got them on tape. The "my Johnny would not do that" concept is wayyyyy over used these days. When I was in school if the teacher thought she or he needed to paddle you, then you got paddled. [B)] And in the small town where I grew up, everybody knew everybody and news spread like wildfire. If I got in trouble at school, guess what, I also got in trouble at home.

Then they went to a policy that they had to call the parents and get permission to spank them at school. Then the next policy was NO Spanking. And see what has become of that. The schools have become a collection of drugs, guns, gangs, and who knows what else. No wonder so many kids do not want to be in school these days. It just isn't safe anymore.

Brian, congrats on your (almost) freedom.

I just walked the dog as it has now stopped raining. The sun is trying to peak out too. Some of my Hostas are doing very well. In a day or two if the rain has stopped I will have to put out more snail bait.

HAPPY FRIDAY

Mook; Is that anything like: "I've Seen Fire,And I've Seen Rain.........?
(still just think it's Fri. ??)

Jim;Sarah should be getting her truck washed shortly,as Philly
is supposed to have some rain today.
Wi***he rain would depart our area,we still have chances for more
rain tomorrow, which could affect the "Air Show".[:(]

The "punishment" deal with students (or lack of) became a deciding
factor in my sister's decision to retire from teaching......She always
said in most of those cases,it wasn't the kids that needed to be
punished so much;as it was the parents who really needed it.

Jim, thanks for sending the rain my way we actually do need it. I will see how clean my truck gets when the cleaning machine does come through. The rain is suposed to start tonight.

CW thanks for the way to go, I could really use support during this time of cramed work.

Um....lets see what happened to me today?/ Nothing really. Man, I'm having one of those days in which I don't know what to say....maybe it'll come back to me possibly tomorrow. [:D]

Well, Joe, Matt's a little bit older than I was when I had to start
wearing glasses. I was two when I started wearing them.

I'm frying more fish for supper tonight. Ran out of the hallibut, so I'm also
frying some perch, along the cod, and shrimp. Also got some more fries
going, and hush puppies. Got plenty of cole slaw, and have even boiled
some corn on the cob.

Hey Walt, you hit the nail on the head (or your sister did). I think it's the parents that need a spanking more often then not.[;)]

I had these punk kids dump a load of trash behind my property one time. Well it wasn't too hard to figure out where it came from, all I had to do was fish out some mail with there address on it. I loaded the bags in my truck and drove to town where there house was. Upon contacting the parents it quickly became obvious that they were in denial of there kids actions. The local law got involved and when confronted with the cold hard evidence the kid admitted to pocketing the money for the dumps and drove out of town to dump the trash at the side of the road. I really think that was a wake up call for the parents.[:D]

Started home after work with best intentions tonight, unfortunately my usual route took me right past a large brush fire to which my department had also been dispatched (one of 15 that responded). Finally got home 4 hours late. Depending on who you talk to, it was either 9-10 acres or 20. Either way, it was a big brush fire for us.

I'll take a coffee to go, Joe. Need something warm on a chilly morning. Getting ready to go play in a drum & bugle corps I just joined at the Little League Opening Day. Right now I have my yellow Laprador keeping me warm in my chair while the other one (the male, of course) is staring me in the eye, anxiously awaiying his breakfast (NOW, DAMMIT!).
Have a great day, everyone!
