Good morning everyone. Seems I had problems sleeping last night. Didn't get into
a nice sleep until about 3 a.m. this morning.

Pat and Mookie, here's your omelets. Hope everyone enjoys them this morning.
If anyone doesn't want an omelette, let me know and I'll fix you something else.

Working on my first cup of coffee, and trying to plan the lunch and supper menus
for today.

Chris, glad to know you're all right. Everybody's been wondering about you. It's
good to see you back.

...Nice morning under way here in central Indiana.....Grass growing fast...New tires on tractor, and now ready for next mowing....Believe we might head for our "trail" a bit today with granddaughter and a little bike riding.
Weather people say some rain moving in later today and some threat {again}, of nasty stuff sometime tomorrow...maybe not as severe as this past one. Hope not.

Yeah, Quentin, we've had a light rain for about three hours now. Not supposed to be
anything too severe, though. Sure hope not. Local power company still has somewhere
between 500-600 people waiting to get their power back from Sunday.

Lunch today will be: Baked pork chops w/ pork flavored stuffing, potatoes, peas &
carrots.

Still trying to figure out a supper menu for tonight. Will post that around 2 p.m. EDT.

Mornin' All

Our last few days have been mostly cloudy with a little sun here and there. It might rain for a 1/2 hour then be cloudy for hours then the sun come out for an hour or so and then the whole process starts over again. [B)] It did a slight rain this morning about 8 to 9 and now the sun is out.

National dopler radar is showing a lose cluster of rain all around the mid central states right now. It looks like our sun will not be out for much longer according to the radar.

It is 70 now with a 15 to 25 mph wind. Rain chances increase throughout the day until they hit 60% tonight with strong thunderstorms predicted. With the sun out that will just make it worse when the storms come. [B)] [8]

Today is Monday again, my how fast time flies on my weekend. [:(]

We had a derailment near Bald Knob yesterday killing the truck driver who pulled into the train's path. The train derailed and both mainlines were blocked. They hope to have at least one line open by this afternoon. Things are really screwed up here because of it too.

Well, everyone take care.

You know what will make the trip seem even quicker? Follow US-30 all the way across. Long sections in both the western and eastern sides of Iowa follow the UP transcon very closely. And, if you're careful and watch for the small sign, you can take alittle detour just west of Boone and get close-up and personal with the Kate Shelley bridge!

I've got the day off today, gotta take my wife down to the Surgical Center so she can get her trigger finger fixed (years of working in electronics assembly has taken its toll).

Just heard from girlfriend in La Quinta - they had no rain, but big wind! Had to take down a tree from it. She said they desperately need rain.

Okay, folks, here's the supper menu: we will have a buffet smorgasbord tonight:
meat loaf, fried chicken, pork chops, salisbury steak, ham steak, mashed taters,
cream style corn, green beans, peas; and as a special treat, managed to get some
fresh corn on the cob, specially brought in by an engineer who had a little bit of
extra room in the cab.

Desserts tonight will be apple cobbler and peach cobbler.

Mook,

If it is possible, Kate Shelly is really worth the detour. An impressive bridge with a neat railroad history.

Li'l sister, I'll echo the sentiment about the Kate Shelley Bridge (might suggest saving it for the trip home, though, as I'm anxious for you to get here). I believe it's still the tallest (or longest--can't remember which) double-track trestle anywhere, and it's a real eye-popper (we stopped there on the way out to see you).

Matt didn't say "clear" for green and "approach" for yellow, did he, Joe?

Vacation days are lined up now.

Jay, I'm afraid we might as well ask for a ride on the old MILW through Rochelle.

Sarah, of course you can have a Sprite with your cobbler. Which cobbler do
you want: apple or peach?

And to everyone else, the smorgasbord is set out, and ready for you all to go to
town on eating it. Please eat to your hearts' content, as I don't want to be putting
a whole bunch of leftovers in the fridge.

(2) If Professor Insomniac MisManager gets to you again, look at it this way: The Business Administration course of study was created by a New England mechanical engineer working in the mills. She's gonna have to go right past the shops at Boone (Boone Valley Scenic) to take the back road into the bridge....She may forget the bridge or she can fill us in on Uncle Pete's efforts to build the replacement bridge.

Good Friday morning, to everyone! Hope everyone is well this morning.

For breakfast this morning, we have muffins: blueberry, apple cinnamon, and
bran. There's also some strawberries and cantaloupe chunks.

Everyone have a good day, and if you're in the path of the rains today, try to stay
as dry as possible.

Sarah - trust me - that will be good training for those long, long, long meetings that someone that likes the sound of their own voice will make you attend. Possibly as often as once a week!

You're right, Mookie. I always hated our Friday morning meetings. It was bad enough
listening to the boss ramble on; really hated it when they "brought in" someone to
talk to us about even more boring stuff. Guess that's why they decided to bring in
doughnuts on Friday mornings to keep us awake. [8][}:)]

Wet feet!

Had some rain here last nite. Trees (real ones) did an exercise class. You know, bend way over and try to touch the ground. Then put your limbs up and shake them all around. Squirrels looked like small brown flags hanging out of the trees!

But it was no biggie. They said 60 mph winds - which is never a tornado, just a good wind around here. No damage that I saw other than a few lights out. Most of it north of us. Humidity was so bad, we went to summer sleepwear and a fan all night. Ah.....

I am off to look for a Mudchicken so he can 'splain to me more details about the bridge.

An important (and frequently overlooked/ignored) thing about meetings is that they should always be scheduled so they have a wall to run up against - like lunch, opening (as in stores), or quitting time. Most bosses aren't going to pay overtime so they can hear themselves talk.

Not long ago my boss retired. Micromanager - meetings all the time. New boss came on - no meetings!

The only thing this Tree bent last night was an elbow - fire department meeting and nominations of officers, followed by refreshments...

Tree - I am laughing! Re: meetings - our boss used to have our meetings at 10:30 and run them right into lunch (anywhere from 12 to 12:30). He fixed the problem by rescheduling them at 10:00 and now runs them right up to noon!

My best friend (female) had meetings where everyone stood for the entire meeting. She said they lasted about 5-10 min max!

So elbow bends decently? Firefighter physical training?

Good morning, all- looks like we escaped the heavy rain here during the night, it all went north of us and soaked the IA/MN border. I am breathing a sigh of relief, as I just put down some grass seed the other day and didn't want to see it rearranged to areas that didn't need it.

Joanie's operation went well, she should a good strong grip in her hand again in a few days.
