(Makes you wonder, doesn't it? [}:)] [;)] )

I adjusted the "count". When you work second shift your days and nights are different than day shift people. [;)] We night owls think a little differently. [:0] Oh, and Mookie, I'll have the EGG Salad lol. I will try to keep it on the plate and not on my face. [:p] [^] [;)]

Picked up my purchase at the PBS auction last night - it's for the Lake Placid/Saranac Lake portion of the Adirondack, so once I figure out when I'm going, I'll be riding in the cab of an F7 (two actually - I think they run one at each end of the train since they can't turn them...).

Tom, here's your piece of chocolate cake. Remember: Saturday morning,
I baked a lot of cakes to have in the diner.

Guess I'll have to email the Mookster tomorrow morning, and ask to
please get herself in here to see us. It's not like her to be gone all
day from here, except, of course, on the weekends.

I so want to perform the Jongen. Ever since one of my teacher's other students did it, I have desired to it as well. I guess I should buy the music and practice, practice, practice.

Mookie, come out and play. We can go watch trains, and eat pizza and listen to Tina practice.

Now that I've finally gotten organized (let that sink in), I'm here for breakfast only to find that it's lunchtime already.

There used to be a pizza place in Grand Rapids that had an old theater organ; we got there a couple of times. It has since changed hands and/or closed, and the organ is now in the local museum (I think it's still usable there). Closer to home, the Tivoli Theater in Downers Grove still has an organ; I heard it once a year or so ago.

My favorite concert pieces to listen to are those that have parts for organ included in the score (an organ will definitely help make a piece monumental, as it can hit higher notes and lower notes than any other instrument). If you want a symphonic work to really blow you away, try Joseph Jongen's Symphonie Concertante for organ and orchestra. Unbelievable!

If its such a secret how do you know there is a "Skunkworks"? Maybe somewhere there is a "ChickenWorks".

Tom,

Actually there is such a place, and there is also "Dreamland",
Out in Nevada, where they test the "Top Secret" planes.

And there is a "Chicken Works";it's in Colorado;and it
only 'produces' one kind of aircraft.
(not sure if that base is classified yet.)[:D]

The best pipe organ was in the movie 'Slap Stick'. During the movie the player keeps playing 'lady of spain' and one of the hanson brothers shots a puck off his head. The next game he started wearing a helmet!

There was a grand organ in the old Chicago Stadium. It was awesome when the Blackhawks scored!!!

...Tree....If my memory serves me correctly, this theater organ I speak of in Indy originated on the west coast...and brought to this location much later. It too had all the musical "toys" attached and could make all kinds of sounds...Beautiful ones....At least one of the times I was there to hear it Ken Double was the organist in charge...and he could really handle the job...mudchicken...This organ could duplicate the sounds of your river boat calliope if needed to...and then some....! I don't know if the instrument is still in the building but sure hope it is {or has}, been properly dismantled...{what a job that would be}, and preserved or taken somewhere and reassembled. And again if my memory serves, believe it was built around 1929 or 30....

Breakfast is running late today; woke up at 6, went back to sleep at 6:50.
Walt (mutt) woke me up at 8:15, wanting to know if I was going to sleep
all morning. We'll have all the usual breakfast menu fare.

Lunch today
will be: pizza. I'll make them as you request, with whatever ingredients
you want them (except for sardines: I don't put them on my pizzas).

Supper tonight will be the chilli and what's left of the beef stew.

Mudchicken, don't you mean, "Belle of Louisville", KEEP THE ANTLERS?!?!

There used to be a pizza place in the Phoenix AZ area called the "Organ Stop." Main feature was the full theater organ - it had all the toys with it. My mother knew the organist.

No snow (yet) in the upper reaches of NY. Not exactly warm, but not winter-like yet, either. There is some in the forecast, however.

Among my volunteer activities are annual stints at our local PBS station, running camera for their general merchandise and art on-air auctions. I've been volunteering there so long that I might as well be staff... The Adirondack Scenic donates a number of packages for rides each year. They generally go pretty good, but I've ridden several times and don't usually bid on them. Tonight something a little different came up for bid - a cab ride. I think I was the successful bidder, but I won't know until I get to the station Monday night. Most likely it will be in the RS-3, which they have usually used for the local trips in the past. I'll find out more when I pick it the package, assuming I was successful.

Pizza, I bet Cherokee Woman sells excellent pizza. Is that on the menu for tomorrow? I will take two slices with a Texas-size large iced tea with a twist of lemon.

I grew up maybe 3 miles for the Paramount Pizza Palace on US 40, which is just north of the old pensy line.

I heard it play two or three times. Impressive!

....There was a giant Wurlitzer believe a 5 manual unit in Indy I had a chance to hear several times but no model railroad involved...It was in a place called "The Paramount Pizza Palace"....and believe it is not in operation anymore...but it did have the capability to make beautiful sounds....Console came up out of the floor rotating with the person playing it.....to bring it into view...!

Maybe you're thinking of Northlandz---that gigantic model railroad in Flemington NJ. It has a pretty big pipe organ in the middle of the building.

That's not bad. I just woke up from a nap and thought someone posted a picture of an Amtrak train pulling an outhouse. I clicked on the link and realized I need to wear my glasses when I first wake up. It is actually the Amtrak State House outbound.

Check it out, it is a nice picture. But no out-house.

Tina

Tina,

So you are another one of us that has to wear those things ?!
Last thing off at night, first thing on in the morning.
Even had eye surgery a couple of years ago;
still didn't totally help.

That is a good picture, but I couldn't find an "outhouse" either.

And "pipe organ" music is Great,Love to hear it.
