The BLT I had tonight was the best ever!

Some guy named Jimmy-John made it for me, but I think you had an influence on what I ordered, CW!

We're going back to Millennium Park for another concert next week, and I'll be having another BLT, you can bet!

Today (Thursday) is a very sad anniversary for me. The actual day is July 25th but two years ago it was on a Thursday. And I will never forget THAT thursday.

Actually I will never forget Monday night through Thursday of THAT week. I came home from work and Sasha met me at the door as usual Monday night/Tuesday morning. We went for a walk as usual. During that walk I noticed she was breathing heavy for just walking. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. To make a long heart wrenching story short, it turned out her lungs were almost completely full of cancer. It was a cancer that medicene would not touch and chemo would not do anything to it either. There was no hope. Sasha was absolutely the BEST doberman to ever live. She was so loving and sweet, ALL the neighbors loved her and she loved them too. She minded so well and was just the best dog you could EVER hope for. There will never be another one to take her place. I cannot ever impress you all just how good she really was. Duchess is not even close to being the dog that Sasha was.

Dave, here a cobbler is a kind of pie that you roll out the dough large enough to put in
a dish, put your filling in, and some pats of margarine or butter, cover it with the remaining dough, and then bake. They're especially good served with ice cream on
top. You usually bake them in a rectangle dish (pyrex). Mama had an oval baking
dish she used for cobblers.

And turkey bacon is fairly new, only been around a few years. It's better for your health,
and after you eat it , you think twice about going back to regular ole pork bacon. It's put
out by Butterball (Swift Premium).

DaveBr, glad your out of that tunnel, it can be dangerous in there wiht all those trains that go by on that main line.

Well, tonight I'll take a nice slice of Coconut pie. Had a good day today. We got to go to Wisconsin Dells with my cousins who are up from New Orleans. We got to go on the Ducks, wich are boats that were used during WWII, and some were later used in Korea. They have I think about 50 ducks or so, maybe a little less, but they only use about 20 a day. They go on land and water, so they splash down in the Wisconsin River and on Lake Delton lake. It's a really neat trip, with the guide telling really corny but Funny jokes. It was really good day, as I said, so I'm a happy camper tonight. Also hoping the WSOR local comes tonight, so if he does I'll be happy there to.

Well, the liver and onions was really good. Have some more in the freezer for another
day. Here's how I make it:

Peel and slice the onions, pull them apart to make rings, and cover with water. After
the onions are done, I flour the liver and put the slices on top of the onions, and cook
until the liver is done and tender.

What a sad story Jim, I remember when my first puppy got run over, it was so pitiful to see him crying and yelping as he died, something I'll never forget, I was only 6. But I'll always love that little Poodle named Sugar.

The diet's reasonably intact...vigorous exercise helps.

Who's playing? The Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, of course! Daughter takes lessons from the principal violist. The nicest thing about their concerts (I mean besides the quality music) is that they're free. And the new music pavilion has to be seen to be believed!

Bout time the diner got a little class!

Since Carl's daughter is an accomplished musician - anyone else here play an instrument? Carl? Where did she get the talent?

Anyone else here play anything beside the radio and video games?

Mookie on piano....

[8D]Larry,

Yankee pot roast sounds good. Are you fixing it for us[?][:p]

Now, let's concentrate on BREAKFAST!! How about some oatmeal with whole wheat
toast? That sounds pretty good this morning!

BTW, we got lucky with the storms last night. They all hit well south of us. No flickering
lights, no storms in our local area, except in the southern part of the country. We just
had a nice, gentle rain.

Hmmmmmmm - Yankee pot roast, etc (sure, I'll cook, and I'm sure Duchess will take care of the pots and pans, anyhow), with some music!

I play a couple of stringed instruments, but with Carl's daughter's violin and Mook's piano, our trio would be better off playing bluegrass (I play guitar and a little banjo). Carl - does your daughter know "Foggy Mountain Breakdown"?

You're all lucky I've never had time to learn bagpipes...

I am reminded of a radio commercial I used to hear in Oklahoma City. The ad was for a pizza place, and consisted of a guy complaining about having liver and onions "every night" for supper. The problem, he said, was that it was liver one night and onions the next...

It WAS better heard first hand...

No, the musical talent doesn't come from Carl, thankfully! Mother-in-law was a singer and pianist good enough to sing in symphonic choruses and to accompany other vocal and instrumental soloists. She probably would have had a real career had she gone to college beyond one year, but she instead lives it vicariously through her granddaughter.

Carl, on the other hand, took courses on music appreciation in school...so he can play the radio and CDs with the best of them.

Tree, don't ever accuse my daughter of playing a violin...violists are pretty sensitive about such things![:(!] It only looks like a (big) violin. I doubt that she could play your request...who composed it?[;)][}:)]
