Trainnutz, don't you DARE to anywhere with that cheesecake!! I'll
help eat it!!

Lunch today, will be the usual Friday menu of fried and baked/broiled fish,
chips, hushpuppies, fries and cole slaw.

Dessert will be the rest of the chocolate cake, and the chocolate cheesecake.

OK, CW. I'm putting the cheesecake down. Backing slowly away from the cheesecake. But what happened to the one I left for you? I was taking the one I left as a decoy for the other chocoholics that come in here.

I"m with Q on the situation. Temp is down a bit this morning, and the forecast is for winter to come back a bit, but yesterday was balmy. For a while I thought we had been shifted to down to the tropical climes of Indiana.

I understand that the jet stream has been keeping the cold air up in Canada where it belongs. However, I am sure that Kevin is plotting with his fellow citizens to break through the jet stream a force huge chunks of cold air down on us just as punishment. I'll sound the alert when that happens.

Good to hear that Walt and Paula are out of the dark and safe.

Dear Nutz: Congrats on your 2nd star.

Now drop the cheese cake or the stars go away.

Thank you ever so much!

The "change" has hit us already. It was supposed to start out as rain, but this is the flakiest rain I've seen in a while. They had been saying four to six inches for us at last report--with the early start I wonder if it's been revised upward.

Interesting weather map--go about 15 miles west of us and there are no warnings whatsoever. I suspect our big climate-control device is playing a big role in what we'll be getting tonight.

I just got up about an hour or so ago, and it'll be time to get some more rest in about three hours! Crazy night shift.[banghead]

Afternoon everyone.......

CW and Locomutt, Glad to hear you have the power back on, my parents had their fuse box changed out for a breaker box in 1998, after they decided to add an abvove ground pool. It was just as well, that corner of the house looked a little scary for a loooooong time.

Not much new here, still battling a cold, but it's a bunch better than it was. Now it's pretty much down to hacking up half a lung everyday, just have to take some more medicine for it.

Carl, I wonder if the weathermen were wrong up here-it started snowing as I type this, and a good dusting has already fallen. Forcast is a half-inch at best.

I'll take a fish fry, CW. It feels good to have your cooking again.

Supper tonight is: fried fish, fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw.

Train nutz, I can't resist anything chocolate (well, hardly can resist), so I just
wanted to make sure you didn't take off with it![:I][}:)]

Yes, Brian, you can put away your potato peeler for awhile. But, if I decide to
do a really, really big meal, I'll let you get your peeler back out, o.k?

Joe, you are very correct: good help is always appreciated here in the
Diner. BTW, have a to-go box made up for you for work tonight.

They've downgraded our storm from a "Heavy Snow Warning" to a "Winter Weather Advisory". Still calling for up to six inches, and the time for said advisory hasn't even started yet.

Our meteorologist mentioned the possibility of "Thundersnow" tonight. He said you'd hear thunder and see snow--maybe the snow will be too thick for lightining to shine through!

We're away from the lake; I'm hoping we don't get enough at work to cover the rails or affect the switches. We recently got some brighter lights at our end of the yard--with a layer of snow on the ground, you ought to be able to see our hump from outer space!

Ooh--fish sounds yummy, Cher! And fries and coleslaw are nice comfort foods to go with it. I need some comfort, with this weather and having to work through it overnight.

Brian,

As CW said earlier, for right now,you can put the peeler up;but I do have
a suggestion for you about that;just carry it in your hip pocket, and it
will be there when you need it. ( I almost just sat on mine[:D])

When YOU least expect it,it WILL be needed.[:(][(-D]

Well, we were supposed to get maybe 2 inches, but it looks like we've got four so far and it's still snowing. The radio reported that some locales in Iowa were getting thundersnow. No noise or light show here, though.

OK, peeler is in the back pocket. Luckily, the pants are fitting much looser these days.

Well, at 9:40 p.m., we have a current temp of 62 degrees F. Don't want to see
any thundersnow around here, for awhile at least.

Have popped some corn for tonight. Hope you latecomers enjoy the Friday
night treat.

And a BIG [#welcome] to Bob Flemming and switch8frog! Have a slice of
chocolate pie, or a slice of chocolate cake on the house, as a welcome to
the Diner.

What snow is getting passed Brian is being dumped right here. The very wide band is slowly moving east so we should be OK soon.

Good late night-morning everyone......

Well, the "dusting to a half inch" of snow predicted by NBC 15 in Madison turned into four inches or so, made for some interesting driving this afternoon when I went to fill the truck up. It quit snowing a little while ago, but in the open areas, the roads are now covered in a sheet of ice.

I'm very pleased with myself tonight, I went to play in Badger Poker's free tournament and managed to last to seventh place, which is the best I have ever done in a live tournament. I even earned a free t-shirt just for making it to the final table. I played pretty solid all night, didn't make too many mistakes, and above all, just had a good time.

See everyone later for breakfast-lunch.
