Morning ALL,
Coffee is on,the Juice is out. The rest of the morning's fare wiiil
be up shortly.

Jay,Tom;Some possible good news,in the way of rain for us.
Due to the way that the "leftovers" from Dennis are moving, they
have put us in the 40% catagory for some rain,as early as this
afternoon. Originally we weren't supposed to have much of any
chance until very late tonight,or really,at the earliest, tommorow.
Just hope we do get some rain and cooler temps. Although,
I'm not going to hold my breath waiting.[swg]

Hope everyone enjoys the roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, and the
peach cobblers.

Tom, there's plenty of everything: help yourself!

Joe, fix you a to-go plate for work tonight.

Think I outdid myself on this roast: it's so moist and tender, it just pulls
apart. Mutt and I are stuffed.

Saw our Diner owner on another thread, before I came in. Wonder if
he'll stop in here[?][;)]

Carl-Nothing like seniority on the railroad to get some nice vacation time. I reached a management level that gave me four weeks. I still used them as if they were gold. No wasted time traveling from home to B and back.

I guess we are all in the heat. Well into the nineties here and no rain in sight. Would be nice to get some crumbs from Dennis, but those tend to get used up by Tennessee or Kentucky.

Anyway, things are pretty quiet around here today. Contrast yesterday with a very big crowd over in Janesville at the WSOR roundhouse and yard, and a local classic car showing here in Delavan. Today everybody seems to be hanging inside, in the shade or out on the lake. That's the ticket.

I'll take any leftovers for supper.

Okay everyone, the roast, potatoes, and carrots will be ready in two
hours (about 6:30 our time). So you have plenty of time to get your
appetites whetted. Think I'll get started on the cole slaw, though,
so it can be nice and cold when everything else is ready. And the
peach cobblers I made have a nice, golden brown crust on top!![C=:-)]

Sarah, I can imagine that your garage/shop facility would need a lot of fans to keep the help cool. Be sure and stay watered down.

We are at 93 degrees, as we speak. My "Weather Bug" sometimes errs the other way--no matter what the temperature really is, the Bug will sometimes go to 15 below! Anyone care to join me?

I'm just in for a tall, cool drink (non-alcoholic, non-caloric, non-caffeinated, of course). This first day of vacation is filled with food--we just got kicked out of the place where the wedding reception will be held (of course, the owners fed us brunch and hugged us before they kicked us out), and in two hours or so we have to go to our church's pig roast. Given the temperatures, it might be me they're talking about!

Again, to Sarah--I get five weeks' vacation. Not nearly enough for an AMG, but that's the most that anyone gets. After this one is over, I'll have abouf five single flex days left, to be used by the end of August.

Yes CW the beef roast, potatoes and carrots w/cole slaw and peach cobbler w/ ice cream sounds really good. I think I'll have a little bit of eveything then tonight. Oh I'm glad you enjoyed the luau!!

Joe thanks for making up some of that delicious lemonade. Be carefull I might end up drinking 2 gals of it!!! lol.

What is going on here today, it's not that livily in here. Well I'm sure as soon as CW starts cooking up that good food mentioned above things will get busy. All this talk of rain makes me want to see hurricane Dennis come throught and give us a good down pour and some flash floods. Goodie!! Well, today in PA it's going up to 87 degrees Ferhinehight (spelling) then tomorrow when I have to work oustdie in the scorching sun it's going to be 98 degrees. However the people in upstate PA will be confortable since they live in what I like to call the "mountainous PA region" Well, I'm going out railfaning today I hope I'll see something interesting.

Mudchicken and Chris, I'll try to get the rain to go west, okay?
I know the western Indians did rain dances, but don't actually recall
ever hearing about any of the Cherokee doing rain dances! But,
I'll try, anyway.

Sunday brunch will be: donuts, grapefruit, grapes, cantalope, water-
melon.
I haven't quite decided on supper tonight, but tell me, how does beef
roast, potatoes and carrots w/cole slaw and peach cobbler w/ice cream
sound for supper?!?!?!

Was it only 98? I would've believed 156 today! What ever happened to the nice rainy pattern we were in? There hasn't even been any decent afternoon storms of late. Oh well...August is coming, and that means Monsoon season! Nothing like getting pounded by slow moving 3 inch per hour storms!

Yeah, by Tuesday night and Wednesday, we are to get some rain, effects of
Dennis. They are predicting that we may have 1 to 5 or 6 inches of rain from
the tropical storm.

Know that I am still serving the Saturday brunch; but tonight, it will be the
usual Saturday night pizza night. If anyone doesn't want pizza, I'll also have
beef pasta and garden salads. Will also have plenty of iced tea and
lemonade
to drink.

Good morning everyone! [#welcome] Cogload to the Depot Diner and
Coffee Shop!! Always glad to have new people in here. Welcome aboard!!
Know you will love the food in here (good ole country cooking) and will like
all the people who come in here.

Had a glorious time at the luau last night. Had plenty of barbeque, along with
cole slaw, potato salad, mixed fruit (cantalope & watermelon mostly), and
plenty of soft drinks. New niece-in-law looks like a perfect match for our
nephew. They both love to go camping the "old fashioned" way of taking a
tent and sleeping bags and sleeping on the ground. Do believe our nephew
found his soul mate. Now, can hardly wait for little great-nieces and great-nephews
to come along!!

Saturday brunch will be: turkey bacon, sausage patties, biscuits & gravy,
fried potatoes, sliced tomatoes, cantalope, and I've even fried some steak
for breakfast this morning. Also have oatmeal, grits, and cream of wheat.

Eat hardy, everyone, and have a great day. BUT STAY COOL OUT THERE;
SUPPOSED TO BE ANOTHER HOT one
.

Think I'll go light on lunch, a tossed salad would be fine along with some good crusty bread and a glass of milk.

Jay

Can I get a buffalo chicken sandwich and a rootbeer? Please!

Jay will you be in Janesville tomorrow for the Open House at W&S? I will be there around noon (nap time).

I saw a few UP units on W&S rails the other day. They were on the Janesville to milton line and heading into Janesville.

Question: Do Class 1's have rights to use shortlines? If so why did they get rid of the lines in the first place?

1) British - not English -there is a difference....honest!
2) I work on the railway as a signalman (or signaller to be pc) en Kernow....Pandra vynn'ta dh'y eva? .....could be handy however the last native speaker died in 1770ish so I wouldn't really bother.

Quick summation there. So hello.....

CW I'm going to miss din din tonight. I already oviously missed lunch so I guess I'll have to settle for a snack or two, hehehehe. Hay have fun at the "luau" tonight!!!

Carl how many vacations have you had this year??/ Man.............. isn't it great to have seniority. lol

Well it is was raining here in Philadelphia about 10 seconds ago. The rain started at around 2am. How do I know this?/ Because I was up with all the lights off in my room and the window open watching the lighting and leting the rain hit me. OH my did that feel good considering it was beyond muggie (check out the spelling) in the house. We didn't get any flash flood warnings though. Darn it!! I was hopping to see the Wisshicken Creek (The Wissy) over flow. I also wanted to see the nice lovely Sussquahanna River become violent. Well, maybe next time.
