Mudchicken, I'm still doing the rain dance. Maybe it'll send you all some rain from
another direction to you all!!

Larry, I'll take about 4 of your cookies, along with a glass of chocolate milk, please,
Joe.

We are still getting a nice, gentle rain, and our current temp is 75.

Hmmmm...haven't seen one this bad since the Hayman and Missionary Ridge burns back in 2002. Hope we can get some t-storms fired up today. NOAA says we're within the boundaries of where convection could get some things poppin.

Fire may be nature's way, and all that, but it would be nice if nature would avoid the 420 homes that were evac'd.

How the rain dances coming, CW? Mine haven't been effective so far. Going to try the foolproof one tonight. From the Washdecar tribe. It involves the ceremonial cleansing of one 1994 Chevy Caprice Classic. Last time I did it, we ended up with a week of rain. The time before that it was 2 feet of snow![:P]

Mookie, maybe we have enough peaches for us to make some peach jelly or

from making jelly, though.

Supper tonight will be what's left of the stir fry, and think we'll also have for the
dinner special, some liver and onions, and leftover roast, potatoes, carrots, &
cole slaw.

Just looked out the window, and we're getting a light shower, or light drizzle
again. Goody!!

Yeah, Mookie, since I no longer live on a farm, I don't do any canning either!
Although, after we moved to this house, a couple of summers, Walt canned
green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, and mushrooms. We don't even do
that now. And yes, when I canned with Mama, I always remembered to
pour wax on top of the jelly before sealing the jar. And like, you, we didn't
have air conditioning either. It was a round fan on the kitchen table, and
box fans in the windows. And I also remember gathering up the green
tomatoes, to make the chow-chow, or, as Mama called it, green tomato
ketchup.

CW - as a kid - Mom and I canned peaches, cherries, pickles, tomatoes, apricots and even a little jelly. (remember the wax to seal the jelly jars.) We didn't do preserves but did make chow-chow - (relish) that was to die for.....and all w/o the benefit of air conditioning. Just a round floor fan!

As an adult - I wouldn't can for all the tea in China. No Way! And I don't iron the pillow cases, either!

Everytime I come in here and Tree has been in here - I gain weight! If I lived close to him - I would quit work and just follow him around and eat!

Carl - I was a wreck at my daughter's wedding and cried at my own (2nd one). Minister thought I was nuts when I was saying my vows and digging in my bra for a kleenex I had put there cuz I knew I would cry. I didn't cry at my first one - maybe that tells me something.

CW - peaches! No - I am not calling you that - just that I love peaches! Yummmm
And some of Joe's vanilla i.......drool..........

Sir Chix - we call them controlled burns. That way we never admit it might have been a duh moment.

Chris - keep drinking milk and someday we will call you.................Chris (no, not MOOkie)

And a funny for everyone - since our Supreme Court decided states can use eminent domain - in Justice Suter's state - they are petitioning to take his home (he voted for the silly thing!)

OK, in CNW parlance, the train will have a waycar on the end of it. Actually, its prototype is PRR.

We aren't supposed to get any rain before the weekend, and temps will be in the upper 80s or low 90s each day (88 now, before noon). I have made a vow not to wear long pants during this vacation, except on the day of the wedding and the evening before. The lawn needs a trimming/dusting, but not today.

Carl,

ARE YOU SURE you want any of us to comment
on that statement ?? [%-)]
My best guess would be; a little one holding the train up............

Well, it has started to rain a little here;enough to let us know that more
will be approaching us soon? A teaser before the main event?
The way the weather people have shown it,it's to move to the
northwest and loop around, and totally stall out in this area.
Tom,Jay;not sure it's going to make it that far,to you all,but
Joe,believe you might be in luck.

Larry, how many of those ice cream freezers you got,I'll crank
one for awhile;haven't had any "homade"ice cream for years!

Hope you'll keep those tall, chilly glasses handy for later in the day today!

We were kicked out of the reception hall yesterday! (Actual reason: owners were overcome by tears after Pat gave them another quilted wall-hanging.) We have to go back tomorrow with the bride-to-be and make some final arrangements.

My job with the upcoming wedding is done--went to the bank and obtained some large-denomination lining material for the wallet. All they need me for now is to throw this lining at the problems that come up.

Oh--and I get to walk the bride down the aisle Saturday.

Yes, the train will have a caboose on the end of it!

Hmmmm...well it seems that my fair state is on fire again. So much for thinking this year would be different thanks to a lot of winter snow, and a lot of spring rain. I guess it's all moot when there has been no summer precipitation, with high temperatures and high winds.

I was just down in that area of the world last weekend, too. Sigh...I think I'll just have a glass of milk this morning. Need to build up some calcium so I have strong bones. I think I need to do quite a rain dance!

Sounds good to me, Larry. We'll have to use some of those peaches
to make some peach ice cream to have in the freezer, along with
having some peach ice cream to eat right away!! And I'll even help
with the cranking.

Phew! Busy weekend! Spent all day Saturday riding herd on the crowd at the nearby "French Festival." (EMS Bike Patrol) Also managed to find time to consume a couple of hot Italian sausage sandwiches (with) and a serving of salt potatoes. Not to mention the French pastries that are a hallmark of the event. Finished up the evening with a great fireworks display over the St Lawrence.

Sunday I spent getting the ol' sailboat ready for, and into the water. Alas the creek from the boat launch to the lake was all into the wind, so did some paddling until I had room to maneuver. Great fun on the lake, though, if a bit rough. All the more fun.

Lunch sounds good, CW, and as for those peaches, they are always great fresh, but for a real treat, we'll have to get out the ice cream freezer. Peach ice cream! I'll crank if everyone else will help!

Good morning all!! Regular breakfast fare is ready and waiting for you:
you know, sausage, bacon, biscuits & gravy, etc., etc.

Mookie, your lunch sounds real good. Think I'll fix some fried
rice for lunch today: chicken, pork, beef, and special fried rice with all
three in it. Might even make some shrimp fried rice, also.

Anybody want to come and go peach picking? We have a family restaurant/
you-pick farm over the way in Indiana. And they are running their peach
picking commercials this morning. We could get enough peaches for pies
and cobblers to fill the Diner's freezer for the winter.

Mookie, I like your weather reporting. But, just make sure you don't
singe your Colorado roadrunner too much: we do want to keep him
around for a long time![:p]

this is your weather person from the desert in the middle of the country. The long range forecast is just plain stupid. Hot, Hazy and Humid and no rain until at least Sept!

See - it isn't hard to predict the weather - when you have no weather. Kind of like living on the moon. But we have no forest fires like Colorado - what would we burn on the plains - grasshoppers? Yum!

So - to my favorite roadrunner in Colorado - be careful and wait for me to singe your feathers! Don't do it yourself!

Now - I brought in some Fried Rice and Combo lo-mein for lunch. Guess where we ate yesterday! [:O] oh excuse me - not bad manners - good food!
