Yawn [:O]

Went to bed at 7:30 last night - just wasted (creme soda?). Slept and slept and slept and turned over a few times and slept and slept and figured it must be time to get up - I had been in bed for many hours....

Looked at the clock - 9:38....

Have a 2 hour meeting today. No meeting should last 2 hours! I am the soul of brevity, so ....

Evening All! Been swamped for two weeks. Had ten pages to catch up on. Seems like the primary topic is lack of rain. Some farmers here are making sillage out of 2 foot high tasseled corn. Only in ILL could we get a hurricane and still stay dry. Unbelievable!
Well, update from the sandbar:
Step-daughter back in hospital, seems the original DR set up her insulin levels before she dropped 91 lbs, yet the new DR was keeping her on those levels. We finally got her a regular diabetic DR and dietician and things are much better now. We couldn't figure out why her sugar levels were bottoming out about 3 o'clock. Now we know.
Started back to work with my "new" knee. OUCH!!!!!!!! The first shift stupivisor was on vacation, so I was covering him, then after two days the second shift SV quit, so I started covering 1st and as much as I could stand of second. Been doing 12 to 14 a day. After 5 weeks off it's quite a jolt to the system. Money's a welcome site but haven't had much time to sneak into Diner. By the time I get home, I do the 3 "S"s grab a bite, and head to bed. Got off a little early tonight, so I thought I'd drop in and let you know I'm still alive. (Barely)
Anyway, am gonna crash and burn, so I'll try to drop in later in week and catch up and say hi to everyone. Are we still planning our playdate at Rochelle? Willy [zzz] [zzz]

Tom, Of course there's plenty of food left;should have some good
choices of whatever you want;although you might want to be
careful with the cream soda, there's a rumor going around
that a certain 'cat' was seen staggering around after drinking
a bunch of it.[swg]

Larry, that's sorta strange,as you guys have been warmer then us
for the last two days.

Hey, we got one of those "out of the north" storms today, too! Several, actually, and ours had ice (hail) involved, not to mention bunchs of lightning and a little wind. All told, they dropped some 3/4" of much needed rain on us. Made for a damp morning at the county fair, but by late afternoon the sun was very much in evidence (as was the humidity) and the crowds were starting to arrive.

Our county fair is the oldest continuously running county fair in the state, and ranks pretty high in the entire country for longevity.

Actually, that's a funny story. I used to live in Sykesville, Maryland, closer to the B & O than I am now. I was only about 45 minutes to an hour away from the Museum, but now, that would be roughly 2 and a half hours. Sad, ain't it?

[C):-)] HEY HOWDY!

Would you look what the cat dragged in? ME!

I haven't posted in here in forever, how has everyone been? I've been posting more in Model Railroader over the past, what, year? But now, I have a cable internet connection, and a PC, so I can post where ever, whenever because Trains.com no longer crashes what I am running.

I've moved recently, and am now in Boonsboro, Maryland, anyone near by?

I'll be posting more in here from now on, so if no one minds, I think I'll take a seat at the counter.

If Jim doesn't get any of his birthday cake, as Tootie from Facts of Life would
say, " You're in TROOUUBBBLLLLE!!

Now, we still have some pizza and some sub sandwiches left, so we'll
fini***hem off for supper. We'll also have, in honor of the birthday boy
himself, sausage and biscuits and gravy. THEN everyone can have some
more birthday cake, AFTER Jim has his slice of birthday cake.

The visual of a cat all sticky from cream soda is too much! ROTFL

Diet cream soda? I'll mix a round of that in with the Dew. Lawn is done--going over the north forty to spiff it up for potential wedding guests in this drought gives new meaning to the term "crunch time"!

I've been relieved of "gofer" responsibilities for tonight, in spite of the fact that I promised to take a shower after doing the lawn. So after said shower we'll take a trip, grab a bite out here, and wait for relatives to get situated.

... Ok on the birthday and happy birthday...Jim....but just had to get out of the house...and that means food as we're out. Still just a very light rain falling for us here in Muncie...Just doesn't look like we're going to get what I thought we'd get from Dennis...but as I said earlier, we'll take it and appreciate what we're getting. We have so many fast food places and real restaruants here on the north side of Muncie...Mcgalliard Rd.....one could try a different one for many days in a row and not repeat....We're 5 1/2 miles west of center of city, Muncie courthouse....and it's just a short distance to get to all these commerical places. The menu does really sound great at the "diner" though.....

....Still getting a light fine rain but it's not adding up very fast....Now total at a bit after noon is: .4" from Dennis. But it is soaking in well and my yard is nice and green. Mowing at 3 1/2" height has helped. Been doing that for weeks.
But next...must find some lunch and today will be Pizza King Pizza for wife and Subway for yours truly. So much for noon report.

We didn't get enough to turn anything green except the weeds. Local weathercaster referred to his lawn as "shredded wheat"--that about says it for me--I'm probably going to injure the mower blades with it today.

Keep the iced tall ones handy, please--between doing the lawn and playing gofer I'll be needing them!

Had showers on and off all day yesterday, and going through another one as I speak. Very tropical weather. I don't have a rain gage, but I doubt we have gotten more than a quarter inch. Least it is not getting any dryer.

I can't say we've been disappointed here with the amout of rainfall,
but they do keep saying there's more to come.(and heavier)
Since yesterday, our 'faithful' rain gauge has shown approx. 1.7 inches.

Mookie, are you sure that 'storm';wasn't the neighbors, and a garden hose ??[swg]

These last two mornings have been nice, with the cooler temps;as a matter
of fact(according to weather on my Homepage) Tree was about 10 degrees
warmer at his place, than us here further south.(70 deg. here, this morning)

....So far, our rain in Muncie is very disappointing....Not enough of it. Only about a half inch total from leftover hurricane Dennis....Very ligh mist falling now and has been for a while this morning....and that is excellent. Doubt if total will be much though.

Morning everyone. Hope no one has gotten into the white cake with
white icing that's decorated for our esteemed owner today. It's Jim's
birthday today, so we will celebrate whenever we can get him in here!!
After all, being the "birthday boy", he has to cut it before we can eat it.

Be sure you go to his birthday thread, and give him your best wishes.

Mookie, I prayed for all you to get rain: not little five-minute downpours!!
But some nice, gentle ground soaking rain that will help!!

Guess I'm just too far away from you, mudchicken, for my rain dance to
do any good for you all in Denver. I'm so very sorry, as I have tried my
darndest for the rain to reach you. So very disappointing. Maybe I'll
pray to my ancestors tonight, and maybe they'll help you all out in
Colorado Springs and the rest of Colorado, and Arizona also.

Appreciate the efforts from the only one here certified to do an indian raindance CW, but all we got in Colorado Springs this afternoon was about 5 big drops which quicly evaporated. Off to go find the ice blue "Frost" gatorjuice buried in the back of the freezer.

Of course there are chips to go with the BLTs! May not list them on the
menu all the time, but there's always potato chips here in the Diner.

Here at home, we had leftover roast beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, and I
also had some cole slaw.

Street's still wet outside out in front of our house, but right now, it's not
raining. Really enjoying getting this nice gentle, steady rain. But they're
still saying that tomorrow and Thursday, we could still get some heavy
rain.
