So I will just say - [}:)] Remember "Your Hit Parade?".....

....Had to be 78's....I remember the first jute box in our little home town was in a bar restaurant {two different rooms}, and it was a Wurlitzer and that would have been shortly after WWII, perhaps about '47....There was no flipping over the records, etc....it just had about a dozen stacked up on one side and the selector would move up and down the stack and remove one and swing it around to playing position and bingo...Music...!

No but, tidal surge backs up the bayous and spillways restricting the natural drain off and causing the streets to flood. Houston isn't high enough to have gravity overcome this problem, and since the gulf, via the channel is where it drains to.....Allison caused all sorts of flooding in that part of Houston several years ago.

Sis--good thing you aren't the violent type, or you'd be taking out your trusty ol' .45!

I bought a 45RPM of a novelty song when elder daughter was in about third grade--that had to be 20 years ago, and the place I bought it had to do a search for me. Boy, did I pay! (Was worth it--entertained Ellen's class for years with it!)

MC, need to hear more from you!

....Oh yes, my turntable can handle 45's....It's a good quality unit but I rearranged things some time ago and simply took it out of the system at that time....but it's still very serviceable. CD's of course had taken over by then and I simply put the turntable away. Item: A couple of years ago a friend's mom passed away and I was on the receiving end of dozens of 45's....and I've never played any of them yet.....In that batch I picked out many of Ken Griffen's organ music, popular in the beginning 50's era, etc....so curiosity is building and perhaps I must take a look about equipping to play some of that stuff....

Thanks again, for the additional info.

No problem, Quentin. Glad I could help a fellow member out. 45's, eh? Careful, you're dating yourself. But then, I don't care if I do the same about me- I've got a bunch of 33 1/3 rpm LPs stored away. And some 8-track tapes for good measure![:D]

Alright CW, save me a spot for SUPPER!

Brian,need a player for those 8 tracks,I've still got 2 of them;
Quentin,I've got the adaptor for playing 45s on my turntable,
And the 45s to go with it,plus still have a bunch of 33 1/3s.
And my turntable is connected to the system. [:D]

Good morning, all! Breakfast menu today is a light menu: cantaloupe and water-
melon slices, turkey bacon, and sliced tomatoes.

The roast, taters and carrots are on in two pots. One pot has been cooking since
5 a.m., to be ready for lunch/dinner. The other pot is simmering for supper. Will
also have green beans and cole slaw as side dishes for both meals.

Looked further down the Google list and found articles dated later that tell how he spent a couple of nights in Baton Rouge at the LSU quarterback's apartment.
