I think Ed (UniHead/Got Ilk?) will be taking his pizza down his snorkel as Katrina comes ashore just east of him (New Orleans to Houston isn't that far down I-10)...

Carl & Jay: We'll make some noise as we get closer.
Joe: Won't be any further east than the IL/IN state line.
Sarah: Bengals won the last one that counted (don't play them this year, but do play the CheesePickers about mid-season)....do like the SW-8 switch engine JRSimplot painted in Bengals colors that's down at Addison on the Ohio river.

Got a full week in western CO this week (Too much sun and no rain[:(])
Mudchicken Nothing is worth taking the risk of losing a life over. Come home tonight in the same condition that you left home this morning in. Safety begins with ME.... cinscocom-west

Randy and Willy, there's plenty of gravy in the roast, so you shouldn't have any problem.
And if you want a bowl of chicken & dumplings, go for it. Do have some left.
So you can have some of both, if you wish.

And Joe, the pineapple upside down cake is right side up when you take
it out of the pan, so you'll be having it right side up.[:)]

WELL this one takes the cake.

I got that stupid E-mail many months ago about Mars being as big as the moon this month- And guess what? i\ve been sitting outside religiously for the past three nights wondering if someone hadn't bothered to renew mars' contract-. WELL, long story short- the e-mail was made up by somebody who is 47 and lives in his parents basement! according to Nasa, it is a hoax.

I\ve been shylocked.

I was waiting for a SPECTACULAR sight. well, looks like that isn't happening.

Late supper again tonight. The wife is checking out grandchildren in Cincinnati and step-son Matt is hanging out with the guys.

Stopped by Roundout, IL, famous crossing of CP (ex-MILW) and the "J" Slower on Sundays, of course, but caught a northbound Hiawatha and the Metra commuter coming in from Fox Lakes. Amtrak hits the diamond at 79MPH blowing for the highway crossing as it goes under the bike path bridge on the trail that runs along the North Shore Mundelein Branch. The bridge is no more than a few feet above a maximum clearance requirement for height above rail and puts the observer just about as close to a speeding train as possible with a reasonable degree of safety.

Nice day here. Anybody "in the path" keep the raincoat handy and stay safe.

I almost got taken in by that Mars thing, but if you read it accurately, it says that Mars, when seen through 75-power binoculars, looks as big as the moon does to the naked eye--in other words, if you look at Mars with the naked eye, it's about one 75th the diameter of the moon (instead of what--maybe one 80th?), and would supply the square of 1/75th of the light surface (about 1/5400). I suspect that unless you're a die-hard astronomer, 75-power binoculars are hard to come by--and they'd be a pain in the posterior to focus.

Carl, you weren't too late for the pineapple upside down cake! Made sure
that I made several of them to have on hand this week. Figured it would
make a very nice treat for everyone.

Breakfast this morning: cantalope slices, turkey bacon, sausage links &
patties, biscuits & gravy, oatmeal w/toast, Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, Fruity
Pebbles, Cheerios, Alpha Bets.

^O^.......got a ring of pineapple on my nose and can't get it off! I am not a big pineapple eater, but oooo - the cake is just out of this world.....

I drug in a big 'tainer full of round steak cooked for hours in mushroom soup - it is so tender, it falls apart. Will offer this to CW for dinner from the driver. Also brought in a big salad to go with it. I got to help toss it - will leave the details out.....[}:)]

Neighbors had a bd party for 5 year old. Ages 5-8 and there were about 8 kids and 6 adults - all day long.....kids were upstairs, screaming at each other and jumping off the furniture onto the hard floor. Sounds like an echo chamber in there.

Driver yelled at kids as they were trying to dismantle our garage door (not there own, mind you) with a big wheel. Didn't know those things could go that fast and hit that hard!

Then I used about a 20 pound book and beat on the walls more than once. I wasn't dressed to go over and yell and Driver wouldn't let me. He said the police would come and he would have to try and explain that it was me that drug the 200 pound neighbor down the street beating him all the way! Said they would never believe it and he would be in trouble! I was a little singed around the ears!

Ah, just a quiet Sunday in the duplex of horrors.

Heading for the hammock. Will take the radio - listen to the hissicane reports.

Oh - and for all you who have not met Mudchicken - this is the fastest bird I have ever seen. He flies in a big truck and usually about 5 inches off the asphalt. There will be only a blur and a cloud of feathers!

I'll have to stow a piece of that cake away - still trying to finish up apple pie I baked for a picnic. Everybody stuffed themselves an burgers, dogs, and salads, leaving no room for dessert... Their loss - gosh it's good!

Spent the weekend learning how to extricate a valued group of our society from their work environment when things go wrong. We certainly need farmers (and appreciate them) but they often tend to take on that teenage "bulletproof" mentality. Next time you drive by a bucolic farm scene - well, it's really pretty scary.

Probably catch a light lunch before I head out to the lake to sail this afternoon, but I know we've got all the ingredients in the cooler.

Here's a good one to go with that farm scene Larry;
Tank truck with approx. 2,000 gals. of Jet-A stolen
from airport in western Ky. Authorities are thinking
that a farmer, fed up with the rising fuel costs stole
it,thinking he could use it as diesel;after all,it's just
very highly refined diesel(kerosene)

Mookie,so MC kinda plays the Road Runner routine Huh ?!
and did UNL have a football game over the weekend ?

And yes,I'm sure CW will appreciate the round steak and
tossed salad for the 'Lunch Crowd';she had to go out on
an errand, and might not be back in time for the 'lunch bunch' ![:D]

Katrina will hit us likely as a depression with heavy rains and likely some decent but not threatening winds even in Ontario.

Won't need to water the grass.

I just feel sorry for the folk getting hit with it as a hurricane. The only upside is they won't have to water the grass for a year probably-that's about it for upside.

Hello All [:)]

Just stopping by for a quick drink and a little lunch before going to work.

We are getting a light rain shower but I don't think it is related to Katrina. Katrina's projected path doesn't involve Arkansas.

I hope everyone is well. [:D]

Have a great day.

Mookie, thank you for providing our noon time dinner today!! Just got back
from errand-running, and am very glad you provided dinner for us today.

We are supposed to get the "tropical depression"rain around 7 p.m. edt
tomorrow. Had a very nice rain yesterday afternoon, and another round
this morning (just as I was going to catch the bus). At least I had the
foresight to put on my raincoat this morning!!

Supper tonight: leftover round steak (if there's any left), leftover roast,
potatoes & carrots, and there's plenty of pineapple upside down cake
left, also. So: everbody enjoy the good eats!!

Katrina, Katrina, Katrina........................ I have to say something about this huge storm. I was told today by my foreman that he was going to ship me and another co worker of mine down south to the good old Mississippi River today, so we could experience first hand what it's like to be in a violent storm. I said hay I wouldn't mind doing that because, then I can watch the rivers and participate in some extreame sports. Like hanging on street signs and letting the wind blow by me. lol ON a more serious note I'm going to give all my blessings to everyone down in Katrina's path.

Well, today I did get to see a car fire today on 476 or the Blue Route as we Pennsylvanians call it. That was really interesting considering the fact that I've never seen a car on fire before however, I did see a truck explode before and that was last week.

To those who asked me about the Packers: Yes I do love the Packers evey though they aren't doing so well as of now. I own a Farve jersey (spelling). However, I don't own one of those Chesse hats. lol. I would like to see the Packers come up in stats though. We'll see if that will happen this year because, last year it didn't.

Well, a good evening to all of you. I hope all of you are well, especially those of us who may have an univited houseguest named Katrina...

Sorry it's been so long since I've frequented my favorite dining establishment. Work, school and life have all been on the busy side of late. I suppose it does keep me out of trouble.

CW, I went out hiking on the Colorado River Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park, and brought back some Wild Strawberries. You'll have to forgive the size- they don't get very big out here. They're really sweet and juicy though! Have some vanilla ice cream that we can put them on?

Well, I hope you are all well. By the way, Sarah, I'm a Pack fan, too. I'm originally from the Chicago burbs, too! No wonder my uncles don't like me very much! [(-D]
