There's plenty of both kinds of Mountain Dew on hand here at the Diner:
along with just about any other kind of soft drinks.

Went and did the produce this morning. Produce truck had a [b]NEW[/b
driver: got lost, and it was almost 11:30 when they showed up.
Got potatoes, zuchinni (yuck) and little tiny vidalia onions. And that was it!![:(]

Supper tonight will be beef pasta and leftovers from yesterday.

July 4 here in Western Chicago burbs brought hot weather (and again today) and we had first measurable rain in about 120 days (about a quarter inch at most) but it drove us into our neighbors garage for our annual neighborhood picnic but we had fun anyway with bar-b-q and lots of salads and desserts, yummy, then the fireworks but most were rained out as we had a brief downpour at the scheduled time for the works. Oh well, a good time was stil had by all.

Speaking of weather, I see Randy Stahl made a couple of posts today. The snow in Maine must have melted.[(-D][(-D][(-D]

I celebrated the 4th by riding behind a diesel built by the AMERICAN Locomotive Company.Went to the Fillmore & Western railroad for the train ride and other festivities. They had a car show and fireworks in the evening.Train was pulled by a GP30 and an ALCo S6. It was a great day[:D][8D]!
When I got home one of our cats clung to me like glue.He had been terrified all day by the constant noise.I live in a neighborhood where firecrackers and especially M80s are EXTREMELY popular[:(!][xx(]!I'm glad I wasn't there!

Tom, know what you mean about pets and the fireworks!! Had a little border
collie many years ago, who absolutely HATED any kind of fireworks. We would
have to put her in the house on the 4th, and someone would usually have to
stay with her. That was my first border collie. I had another one, that came to
me from one of my brothers, after my Mama passed away 17 years ago. She
got stolen out of our yard. Miss her so much!! She didn't seem to like the
fireworks either.

Hmmmm. Think I'll grab a quick bite of breakfast and keep quiet - looks like most of the denizens of the Diner are sleeping in...

Morning everyone! Think this will be mostly a "Help yourself" day. Have
several errands to run today: especially to get my driver's license re-
newed. But hate having to pay $20 to get it renewed. Cost of getting
them renewed here went from $8 to $20 on July 1st.[V][:(]

Hi all, I'm here in Kansas City (actually at an airport Marriott hotel for a meeting) and just had to have one of those famous KC steaks...which actually tasted pretty much like a good Chicago steak that I don't have to fly 1.5 hours to eat. Weather pretty balmy here and my better half tells me on the phone that Chicago metro is cooling down tonight...just in time to get really hot again at the end of the week. No rain in sight for Chicago AGAIN in the forecast. Watch what happens now, it will wait and we will get too much all at once. What ever happened to the idea of a nice drizzle all day that made the flowers and grass happy?

So sad to wake up this morning, and the first thing I hear is about the
bombings in London. Why in Heaven's name won't people wake up?!?!
The way things are going in this world, it makes a person want to scream!!
Takes me back to the 70s(?) when Coca-Cola had the "I'd like to teach the
world to sing, in perfect harmony" standing hand in hand. And it also makes
me want to call all the radio stations and request a song: "Let There be
Peace on Earth"[:(]

Breakfast this morning will be all the regular breakfast items: turkey bacon,
sausage patties and biscuits & gravy, cereal, oatmeal, toast, etc.

Lunch special today will be beef pasta and garden salad.

I'm in for the salad, please, and a tall, cold drink before work.

Had to get out of the house where people are going crazy with wedding preparations.
