Dessert tonight will be: your choice of banana pudding, mixed fruit Jell-O w/

Had a crowd for Produce today: 79 people!! Got some more cabbage, onions,
and oranges. That was it for today.

Lunch today: leftover turkey vegetable soup, with grilled cheese sandwiches.
And there's also some ham left from supper last night, if anyone would like
some ham and mashed taters/gravy.

[censored] have to cover mouf - it keeps opening on it's own this morning. Must be the spring/winter/summer/spring/summer/winter weather we are having! Makes me sleepy.

Reading a good John Grisham book (The Broker) - got ready for bed early and since it was cool, thought I would read in bed. Turned on electric blanket to get chill off bed, didn't need the light since the window light was enough - curled up - literally at 7:30 and started to read. Noise kept distracting me. Decided it would be quieter if I laid the book down. Ceased purring immediately! 7:36....

Congrats to both Brian and Larry. There is enough room in our "family" tree for a few more!

CW - think I will just have c-o-f-f-e-e this morning. Raided frige early, so now just need energy to make it to my clean hammock!

Jim, thank you for making the cinnamon rolls this morning. The maple icing
ones sound reeeeaaall good this morning!!

I've got the coffee going, and the juice is made.

Dan, I don't have anything against the Florida Marlins, except when they're
playing Cincinnatti. It was a good game, though.

Larry: congratulations!! I know you're going to be very busy in the next few months!!

Think I have got all the wrinkles out of the hammock (along with any food crumbs
that might be in it), so it's all ready for the Mookster!!

The owner is opening the diner this morning (even tho we are open 24 hours anyway) and making Sarah's favorite rolls. [:D] Some have white icing and some have maple. I will try one of both and with a nice, large, chilled glass, of very cold milk. [:p]

I was asked to work 4 hours of overtime tonight so I got off at the railroad at 3 am. [B)] So after a taste test of the rolls and some milk I will be going to bed.

When it comes to baseball I am a Cardinals and Royals fan. [;)] But I try not to let sports come in the way of friendships. [:)]

Well it is 5 am and I hear the bed calling.

If you live in the Eastern Time Zone you have just 15 minutes to file your federal income tax return or you will be late. Exceptions actually apply to some states that had some holiday today. Don't call me though, I am going to bed.

Hope you all got nice refunds-Myself, I had to pay.

Of course, I don't think she even knows how to get here,), daughter's boyfriend called me tonight (we had dinner together Easter, but he & I didn't get a chance to chat privately) to ask for my blessing. Joe, bring on the ham and mashed taters. I'll take some corn on the cob out of
the freezer, and put into water on the stove (range) to have with the ham and taters.

hammock has a wrinkle in it.....wonder why?

Hmmmm......

Got to watch some of Tree's peers working in our street at home Friday Nite. Extended cab pick-em-up truck rammed a legally stopped car waiting to turn into a drive (across oncoming traffic.) He never saw them, hit them so hard they crashed into an oncoming car. 2 people to the hospital with neck injuries. He was arrested and hauled off to the drunk tank. Totaled one car, and ruined the 2nd one when the first one was thrown into the side of it. It was driveable, but pretty caved in. Watched with great interest as the firemen/paramedics and police all did their job. Very efficient group of people!

The people in the 2nd car were so mad, I thought we were going to get a fairly new dented car out of the deal. It was parked sideways in our drive! I kept waiting for them to turn the keys over to us, but they drove it off.

Sunday - found the Easter Bunny on our front porch. Don't know who was more surprised! He was dining on some ivy that grows between the steps.

Have a question for the forum, so off I go....

Dan and Brian, sorry about the mix-up!! I was still half asleep this morning, when I
got in here. Will pay better attention from now on, I PROMISE!!

Today's lunch will be: Turkey vegetable soup, with some of the turkey from yesterday,
with cornbread on the side. Everyone did such a good job of eating the turkey, that
there wasn't enough left for supper tonight; so decided to make turkey vegetable soup.

Now, I'll have to ponder on the supper menu tonight for the Diner.[C=:-)]

I just had this printed on a sign. I am hanging it in the foryer for everyone to see as they enter the diner.

Subject: Fwd: Carrot, Egg, and Coffee

You might have seen this before, but isn't it great?!!

A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...You will never look at a cup
of coffee the same.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it
and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It
seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and
placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she
placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she
placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the
carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and
them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a
bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asks, "Tell me what you see."

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.
Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did
and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take
an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the
hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The
daughter smiled as she tasted it. "What does this all mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same
adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went
in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the
boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its
thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique.
After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" She asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your
door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but
with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the
heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a break-up, a financial
hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does
my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff
spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot
water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot,
it releases the fragrance and flavour. If you are like the bean, when
things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.
When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you
elevate yourself to another level?

How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you
strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The
brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward
in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was
smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and
everyone around you is crying.

It's easier to build a child than repair an adult.

This is so true - may we all be COFFEE.

It makes a nice sign, don't you agree. [:)]

You might want to send this message to those people who mean something to you (I JUST DID); to those who have touched your life in one way or
another; to those who make you smile when you really need it; to those
who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down; to
those whose friendship you appreciate; to those who are so meaningful in your
life. If you don't send it, you will just miss out on the opportunity
to brighten someone's day with this message!

It's easier to build a child than repair an adult.

This is so true - may we all be COFFEE.

Good Monday morning, everyone! Thanks, Joe, for the putting the coffee on and
making the juice. I've got to quit staying up so late. Woke up at 8:15. With the
storms that came through here last night, it was almost 1 a.m., when I went to
sleep. That's the main reason I was up so late. Need to go out in a bit and pick
up things in the yard that the winds blew over and around last night.

Special breakfast treat this morning: chocolate hollow Easter bunnies, chocolate
covered coconut eggs, jelly beans are on the counter. Knew a lady once, who's
doctor told her, "If you're going to eat sweets, eat them in the morning. That way,
you burn up the calories from them throughout the day."

Brian, I'll take some of the Reese's peanut butter eggs, please. Love them.

Good morning, all- we're back home after a nice weekend with my family. The first order of business here at work this morning is the sharing of stories and newsworthy e-mails with co-workers, and the the first one I received sent me this link to pictures of the damage from Thursday night's tornado down in Iowa City. WOW. I amend my prior statement of dodging a bullet- I think we dodged a hundred mortar shells in this case.

Busy, busy, busy, I was busy all afternoon and evening long. The northbound trains were backed up. Every time we got rid of one here came another one. The crews were not happy because they had to wait so long to get their turn coming through. I am so tired I just might sleep in the hammock tonight. [;)]
