Joe, thank you for fixing the coffee and making the juice. Also, thanks for the
muffins this morning! Had quite a few emails to get through this morning, so
just now making it into the Diner. Had trouble sleeping last night/this morning,
so was late waking up this morning.

Sunday Dinner will be: fried chicken, mashed taters w/gravy, green beans,
choice of cole slaw or garden salad, and there are three different pies for
dessert: apple, peach, and chocolate.

Crossing Bells At BNSF West Eola, IL (Chicago Sub, MP35.2)
Posted by AMTK161 on Saturday, May 6, 2006 11:13 PM
Well, The tenure of that old gong bell at McClure Road (West Eola), IL is over. Does anyone know when they (somewhat) paved the road at West Eola (BNSF Chicago Sub, MP 35.2?) and replaced that gong bell with a lovely (not) electronic bell...and why?

Thank you CW, I appreciate it very much.

Been busy today. Our town had their Derby Day Festival, so we walked 2 blocks to main street and spent part of the day there.

Don't know what happened to NS today, but they must have opened the floodgates in KY today.

Brian (Ky);Those are all the ones that came through here yesterday,I guess
NS wanted their Thoroughbreds out of town. We were out for a short
while yesterday and saw 3 manifests in about 15 minutes.(two of them were
headed your way,er, Danville at least.)[swg]

Well the "Police" have succeded in keeping the "Derby Cruiser's" off Broadway,
but they forgot about all the "side streets" that connect to B-way.
The motorcycles, particularly, have been BAD this year. Especially
hearing nothing but "straight pipes" at 2, 3, 4 o'clock in the morning.[zzz][zzz]

Joe; glad you all were able to hear some good music. All we have had
was "NOISE". The police were actually even inforcing the ban on
loud music/noise this year. By writing a bunch of citations![{(-_-)}]
(They should have used them![(-D])

Jay;glad some one had a "winner". This is one Derby that neither one of
us has paid attention to at all; we very seldom pay that much attention to
the Derby anyway, but has been less paid this year.[X-)]

(yawn) Had a beautiful day here today as well- got some tree trimming done, mulch spread, etc. Also went to a figure skating show at the local ice arena; my wife's cousin's daughter performed in it. I'll take some pie as well if you've got it- then it's off to bed.

Good day today. Matt and his partner took 3rd place (out of 8) winning their last match with a tiebreaker where they allowed their opponent no points.

Watched the Kentucky Derby. Excellent. Linda had the winner.

A slice of pie-any flavor-with ice cream would be a nice closing.

And Brian (louisnash), I called N. KY. and they sent over one of your

As I did last Saturday, I made them all extra large, so there'll be enough to
go around. Sure hope everyone has worked up an appetite today, and will
be able to eat all these pizzas.

Good Saturday morning, everyone. Joe, thanks for starting the coffee, and making
the juice. Both hit the spot this morning!

Saturday brunch is now ready: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy,
scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles.

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your
birthday wishes to me yesterday! Everyone of you helped to make my birthday
a really special and fun day! Thank you all so very, very much!!

Tree-Great mind? Maybe you are thinking of another Jay on the forum. Still have to go a little over the top for the special occasions. I told the butcher to bill Jim. Is that OK?

Been an interesting week. I was leaving the house to go on an errand and saw a dog hiding between a bush next to the house. When I went to check on him I found he had been injured. He was a very handsome jack russell terrior and his tag said-of course- Wishbone. Got him to our vet's clinic and they got in touch with the owners. Turns out that the mail truck had hit, but not run over Wishbone, in fright he had run off and showed up at our door a good half mile away. Fortunately, his injuries were just scrapes and he is going to be OK.

Tuesday I went to a seminar at the Northwestern University Transportation Center in Evanston. Dave Gunn spoke on the transportation crises that we face. Interesting discussion on the problems faced by all modes.

Saw Matt play in two high school tennis matches-he and his doubles partner won both.
He is playing in the Delavan HS invite today. Last year was a rain out, but today it is sunny, a little cool, but looks like it should be a great day for the kids.

Got to go. Will check in later, probably after the Derby is run.

I was tied up at the local PBS station tonight (running camera again for their auction), so missed supper. Was thinking that steaks would be a good idea, since the grills were already warmed up - and so was Jay! Great minds think alike....

Sarah - send some of that heat up here. Beautiful day today - got lots of outside work done - but cool. It's down to 40 right now. Maybe some rain in our forecast, but nothing too bad, I hope.

Got a note today that the Adirondack is having a meeting of all car hosts ("entry level" for train crews). Problem is that the card says the meeting is on Wednesday, May 6th. A little disconnect there, methinks...

I think I'm going to copy off of Chad here and say:

HAPPY B-DAY PAULA, AND MAY YOU HAVE MANY MORE TO GO!!!! GOD BLESS!! [bday][bday]Oh and as a rule of thum (sp) you can't be sick for your B-day so, if you weren't feeling well this morning I think you should of stood outside on the porch and blew all of the sickness across the street........................hint hint wink wink [:D][;)]

SilverSpike [#welcome] to the diner!!! I'm sure people have already said this but, don't **** off the cook, most espeacilly on her B-day.

Well, it was hot and hummid over in the great state of PA. I was surprised! I wanted to go out swiming but, the pools around here don't open until May 30th. However, my neigboor's pool is open 24/7, maybe I should of went over there instead. It's dark here now and still hot outside. I've got all the windows open in my room. It's really nice to have the natural God given air come in and make the room smell nice. [:D] Now I'm going to say something now, since it is approching summer, and I didn't have a chance to go out snowboarding this winter. I WANT TO GO SURFING!!!!!!

Well [bday] to you Cherokee Woman!

Wishing you the best on your special day.

Are you Native American? I have some Houma blood from one of my great grandmothers who belonged to the Houma Tribe in south Louisiana.

Since the grill is fired up, Joe and Larry, I think a burger with fries sounds great. And some cheese too please!

Ryan, [#welcome] to the Diner! Joe and Larry (tree 068) are grilling today for
lunch.

Really enjoying my birthday today. Later on this evening, I'll either be calling,
or will receive a call from my twin brother. Would really love to see him in
person, but I'll settle for the phone call, and hearing his voice!!

Think I'm ready for a burger, some baked beans, and corn on the cob. And a
slice of chocolate cake for dessert.

Happy Birthday, CW, milk's on me today (couple of gallons straight out of the bulk tank).[dinner][bday][bday]

A little cool here in Madison today, forecast is for mid-fifties and clouds. Supposed to warm up in time for the weekend.

Work? Well.... Let's just say it's gonna get ugly before it gets better, just hope they get more people in there soon.

I'll take a burger or two, Larry, with some potato salad.
